now THIS is how you should have used Lynch, Chan
DUFF replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Marshawn ever learns that he is more suited to run like brandon jacobs, than barry sanders he will be a great back. -
based on what you dug up he "reads" like a solid lineman and a potential tackle! don't know much about the guy, wish i could be excited about it, but in the back of my mind im always reminded that other teams got rid of these players for a reason. im hoping we aquired him the same way the eagles aquired our rb bell (excessive talent at the position), and not the way the jaguars aquired trent edwards (the team didn't want him/fans didn't want him)...hopefully he works out!!!!!!

you beat me to it....just posted something similar (my bad )!!!

Chan said something along the lines of "he hadn't spoke to Buddy Nix about any trades, but they have til 4pm tommorow so anything is possible". Does anyone think we'll make any moves and/or is there anybody that we can trade for? we have plenty to trade out.....thoughts???

Is there anyone available that we need??? I agree with your thinking, but unfortunately buddy nix is all about "building through the draft". Which normally is not a bad idea, except when you draft as many busts as the bills! -
All Aboard! Cam Newton bandwagon....i'm in
DUFF replied to DUFF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
last draft popular opinion said this was supposed to be the draft class with the best qbs... I honestly can't think of one qb right now that would demand a first round pick (i know luck and mallett, but they both have sucked at times and reek of potential bust). at least last year bradford was pretty much a "lock" at being the #1 selected qb. maybe they are all playing bad on purpose because the are afraid buffalo will draft them!! -

any reason???? -
I honestly never heard of this guy until about 2 weeks ago when someone on this board mentioned him. I was actually watching the arkansas auburn game to check out one of our future 2011 qbs (mallett), but ended up being much more impressed with cam newton. Im usually not into scrambling qbs, but let's face it...we need it, plus the guy can throw just as well as run. he's just as tall as mallett (6'6") but bigger and much faster. he's like a mike vick on the field, and mother theresea off the field. any thoughts? P.S i missed the stanford game....do we still like Luck????

Its time to move on to Brian Brohm
DUFF replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep hearing "he's been through 3 coaches and none of them think he is a starter". I can't speak for Green Bay, but as for Buffalo- they are the ones who thought Trent Edwards was the "answer" based on practice. Maybe Brohm is a gamer (maybe he isn't...but he hasn't had a shot yet). I don't think Fitz should be pulled, (20-30, 220yds, 2tds, 0ints is not bad) but I do look forward to seeing what brohm can do (or not do). Fitz is an awesome backup who can win games and has heart. Does anyone else remember the posts before/during the season, that said Peyton Manning would look like a scrub behind this line and with these receivers? if Fitz can put up 220yds, a better qb could potentially excel on this offense. it shows how terrible TE really was... 2011 bring us a franchise qb.......please no busts!!!!! -
I agree with the OP... the defense was adressed primarily in this years draft and FA's. Hopefully with a year under their belts guys like troup and carrington will be contributors next season. Develop the OL and see who can emerge as true #2 and #3 receivers. I don't understand why people say get rid of Evans. If you think our OL,WRs and QB look inept now, imagine how it would look without teams having to double cover Lee and stacking another guy in the box. A new qb will take time to develop, so while that is happening we begin to address the defense (who take less time to develop) and become competitive in 2/3 years.

Right off the bat...Im not saying that our defense was good last year, still couldn't stop the run, but they kept points off the score board with the "bend don't break" mindset. Last year many were saying that our defense wouldn't look as bad if the offense could ever sustain a drive and give them a break. 26 points would have won quite a few games for us last year. As awful as the game went, Fitz was 20 for 30 with 220yds and 2tds...0 interceptions! what the hell is going on here??? (i know we have a new DC, and switched to a 3-4 defense (even though we barely us it))...is george edwards that bad? ps... if i see kelsay back in coverage one more time i am gonna

Does anyone see this about Lynch
DUFF replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jackson IS better than lynch! look at ypc. also the next time lynch screws up he's suspended for the season. I also couldn't stand watching him laugh and giggle on the sidelines when the team was losing every game. -
Can we give it up one time for Freddy Jackson?
DUFF replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marshawn Lynch only started for the sole purpose of finding someone to trade for him. Jackson is the man!!! glad we got rid of "beatch mode" -
Is there anyone worth signing for our open roster spots?
DUFF replied to DUFF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not my kid (from the internet)....i think he may be half "willis mcgahee" though from what ive heard of his stay in buffalo (about the right age too from when willis roamed the streets of buffalo) -
Who is going to fill the roster that Lynch vacated?
DUFF replied to Phil Hansen Forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
kawika, meredith, trent, lynch are gone: urbik(sp?) was signed, kawika was on IR so i dont think he counts, nelson will be added, so we should have another spot open...anyone worth taking???? am i missing something?? -
Like him or not Lynch is a pro bowl (or at least very good now)player. I didn't start this thread to talk about the Lynch trade as there are many of them already out there. My question is.......are there any good players (not PS garbage type players), ones like lynch (talented but wanted out) that could/would possibly come to buffalo??? We dropped trent, kawika, meredith, and lynch. i know one spot goes to nelson but what about the rest? anything???

Why Rebuilding Has Taken a Decade +
DUFF replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good Post!! i honestly never looked at it that way...just assumed it was 10 years of bad drafting and a revolving door of qbs and coaches. nice observation! Hopefully Gailey can show just enough progress each year that we don't drive him out of town after 3 years. There is no quick fix to this mess. unfortunately it took over 10 years to fffff it all up, it won't be fixed in a year or two. So how do you feel about others on this board suggesting to trade evans and lynch??? is it time to start over or does this create new unnecessary holes??? -
agree and i this is the reason we continue to abandon our running game

Will the Bills make more mid-season cuts?
DUFF replied to please stop the pain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
does nelson come back next week? and also is he going to start or is stupar our official #1???? -
good point...however in is first start with buffalo last year, he was only on the team for a few weeks (if that). but this is where im torn...is it that the coaches know he is garbage or is it that they don't want to say "brohm is the future starter of this team" when you have/had trent and fitz in the starting role? (trent and fitz are from stanford and harvard-which means they are smart, maybe they just picked up the playbook quicker than brohm???) i just want to know what we have before the draft....if he sucks cut him!!!
-
Im not implying that we put fitzy on the backburner, because he's playing as well as any quarterback we've seen in buffalo in the last 10+ years. I am however looking forward to seeing brohm get to play an entire game (not when a game is already blown out and hopeless...i want to see him operate the offense as gailey planned it). Do i think he is this teams savior?...not sure...but we do need to find out before next years draft. My wife made fun of me after the last pre-season game because i rewatched the game on DVR and was taking notes. statistically brohm looked horrible and i was afraid he was going to get cut. when i rewatched the game (keep in mind he was playing with the 3rd stringers) the statistics did not give the whole story. While i no longer have the notes i took on the game, i do remember several dropped passes from receivers, a couple passes thrown out of bounds due to pressure, and receivers being knocked to the ground on their routes. otherwise i saw a guy who threw a tight spiral, got rid of the ball quickly and took chances down field (like fitz with more accuracy). Again im not exactly drinking the brohm kool ade yet...what i do know (as well as several other posters) is that fitz is fitz, and what you see is what you get. brohm needs a chance to shine or bust to put this argument to rest once and for all. i don't want to go into next years season, not drafting a qb, and gailey saying "we're gonna see what we have in brohm" when the guy hasn't played a game all season.

What position would you draft...
