  1. Does that make Pettine "six pack ugly" or worse ?
  2. Sorry. I. will. do. better. next. time. Mrs. Mackey. Didn't. know. my. ninth. grade. english. teacher. was. a. Marrone. fan.
  3. Let's keep telling ourselves that --- with 4 Pro Bowlers and a potential 5th (Kiko) -- led league in sacks, 2nd in INT's, Top 5 pass defense --- issues were around contain / cut backs / over pursuit --- yielding big plays --- reality: defense was the ONLY bright spot on the 6-10 Marrone team ---- lose Pettine and start planning for Top 3 pick in 2015 draft --- Mariota, Hundley, Hackenberg, Petty etc. etc. ---- another rinse/repeat and rebuild with a new HC --- lose Pettine this year and Marrone will be on proverbial hot seat next year when this team goes 3-13
  4. I'm saying the best thing Marrone has done as Bills HC that I can point to is hiring Pettine, I really can't think of anything else, can you ? --- if Pettine were never here, would we all feel differently about Marrone as a HC ? ---- I'm saying, Pettine might be the next Belichick or the next Payton, in other words, the great coordinator that becomes a great HC --- do I like Marrone ? --- I do -- but I don't think he is or will ever be a great HC --- I don't want to settle, especially if I think we have the next great HC on staff already ---- CLEARLY --- by the 47+ pages of comments on this thread, the vast majority of Bills fans believe he is a great DC ---- not sure, we'd have 47+ pages on Marrone as a great HC ---- or Marrone as a great OC !! ---
  5. I'll say it again, in a different way --- would we all be so concerned and worried if Doug Marrone was given permission to talk to the Browns ? . . . . ask yourself that question . . . . promote Pettine to HC and fire Marrone !
  6. Did you realize that in 8 of the last 9 years the Bills have been between 8-12 in draft position ??!! --- that is amazing mediocrity, consistently bad, but not real bad -- depressing, but amazing --- and through it all we promote Russ Brandon ---- sorry, wrong thread, but it is so frustrating as a fan to watch how poorly this team has performed and how all of us get so wrapped up into the potential that awaits us in the draft, FA etc -- only to sit here year after year drafting between 8-12 ---- it's a slow painful existence as a fan ---- sorry --- we can now return to our regularly schedule thread ---- I'm not sold on Robinson, he only played at that level for a year --- but he was awesome last year -- my preference at 9 is Ebron, Mosley, Barr or a trade down ---- unless by a miracle Matthews falls --
  7. I'm okay with Ebron at 9 --- or should say, I'm more okay with Ebron at 9 versus selecting WR at 9 --- Ebron is a can't miss prospect at TE while the WR's carry some risk -- in addition, WR is VERY deep this year -- Bills can find value at WR in 3rd or even 4th round ---- my preference is Mosley or Barr at 9 --- and like others -- would love to trade down a few spots and add a 2nd
  8. I think it would be difficult to passionately defend the extra point --- afterall, next to the kickoff that sails out of the endzone, it's the most boring play of any game --- I actually like the idea, 7 points for TD, risk a point to get another point on the 2-point try ---- as for commercials, I hate them like everyone else -- I think we are heading toward commercial scrolls during games and branding in and around the field of play (ala hockey) ---
  9. I have my doubts as well and want no part of him or his off-field issues that I'm sure will only get worse when he has millions in his pockets --- I'm just saying the current thinking amongst the draft pundits is that he is a top 10 prospect and most likely will get drafted in top 5 -- he will not be considered a "reach" for a team to take #1 overall, whether that's the Texans or a trade up partner ---
  10. I'm with you on everything, but comments on Manziel -- he is a Top 10 prospect --- full disclosure: I am a Baylor/TCU fan, not Aggie --- but Manziel is a legit NFL franchise QB prospect and Top 10 on almost EVERY board or mock ---
  11. That's a great point --- watching the games the past couple of weeks, you can see how far away the Bills are in many areas -- they are not a complete team --- a few plays here and there, better QB play etc --- gets us to 10-6 --- but we are not close to being in the company of SF, Den and Sea ---- depressing
  12. You can't be serious ?? . . . watch the plays that both Kaepernick and Wilson made yesterday -- they are damn good QB's -- on ANY team --- granted they are surrounded with decent talent on offense and great defenses --- put either of them on the Bills and Bills this year are 10-6, not 6-10 ---- that is HUGE --- would we be SuperBowl caliber, no -- but playoffs -- absolutely --- take a look at the games the Bills lost this year ---- the QB is by far the most important position in all of team sports ---
  13. Loved watching the excellent Seattle team toss that frozen 35-yard rope to Kearse on 4th down !!! . . . . product of their excellent teams --- what a joke
  14. Wouldn't you and every Bills fan love to have the chance to see if they would be or not ! ---- Sorry -- Wilson in 3rd round instead of Graham was a no-brainer even at the time -- we needed a QB -- not a project speed receiver with a QB that had no arm --- will go down as one of the worst picks in Bills history
  15. Yep and Peyton is a product of great WR's -- Brady is a product of a great OC and Brees plays indoors --- PULEASSE --- open your eyes --- NIX screwed the pooch --- we could have had both of them ---
  16. U kidding, I'm fighting to get him a 4-year contract as HC of the Bills -- send Dougie Moron to Cleveland
  17. ?? --- Take a step back and analyze the team's performance overall --- what were strengths / weaknesses --- where did players improve or regress ---- if you do that --- On DEFENSE: agree, torched by the big play, struggled to get off the field on 3rd down --- BUT, saw huge improvement in pass defense (sorry, look at the stats); pass rush and turnovers --- we saw huge individual improvement from Hughes, Lawson, McKelvin, A Williams and Dareus ---- solid years from Kyle and Mario, Byrd --- on OFFENSE: please insert the positives ? --- O-line regressed from last year; Spiller regressed --- F Jack had v good year --- I saw neutral change with Stevie and Chandler --- on SPECIAL TEAMS: (see Crossman thread --- so, when you summarize the team -- the lone bright spot vs. last couple years is the DEFENSE --- let me ask all the Marrone lovers --- besides hiring Pettine, what has he done that is so remarkable ? --- do you want the guy that hired the genius or the genius -- I'm just saying !!
  18. Seriously ?! . . . . you want to defend or take Marrone over Pettine if given a choice right now, with the information you have ? --- I hate when folks debate or argue with the reasoning that "we aren't in the locker room OR don't have all the information" --- that's crap --- open your eyes and watch what is happening --- you are the same guys that defended Jauron, Gailey,Mularkey and every other retread that this FO has hired and ultimately fired ---- unbelievable ---
  19. Are you saying it makes no sense to fire Marrone and promote Pettine ? ----- first, I know it will NEVER happen --- second, it SHOULD happen --- Pettine is by far the best coach on staff in Buffalo right now, not even close --- when I originally posted this thought, I was more or less thinking ahead to next year's off season --- it's a legitimate question to ask --- "what happens if the best HC happens to be one of your coordinators ?" --- talk to fans in Dallas (they let Payton walk), Indy (they let Arians walk) or Cincy (they let Zimmer walk) ---- a lot of fans of those teams are kicking themselves --- look, I know it will never happen, but it should ---
  20. CBS Sports is reporting that Gase will likely TURN DOWN Browns job if it is offered ---- Right now Pettine is in Final 3 with Seatle DC and Dallas ST ---- UGH
  21. Nice post. Manziel #1 is distinct possibility especially with Texas angle --- I like the idea of Cleveland trading up to make sure they get their 2nd choice -- they could also trade with Houston if they fall in love with one of the QB's ---- ---- Mack/Barr are dead heat for 1st LB --- St Louis would take Clowney over Mack or trade down and trading partner would nab Clowney --- no way do I see Matthews at #9 -- if he's there the Bills lackey in NYC will pull groin sprinting up with the card ---- I see Bills picking between Ebron (TE) and Mosley (ILB) --- based on how I see draft -- but Bills would definitely take Clowney, Matthews or Barr if they fall to #9 ahead of both of them -----
  22. Since 1970's --- can't comment before that -- (1) Brady ----- (2) Montana --- (3) P Manning --- (4) Marino --- (5) Elway
  23. You know what's crazy --- why wouldn't the Bills promote Pettine to HC ? . . . . if you read through this entire board, he's the one coach universally loved and the one most recognized as successful --- fire Marrone and promote Pettine --- take a look around the league at the number of times a HOT coordinator got away --- I think Colts kept the wrong guy, Arians is better HC than Pagano --- or Payton leaving Dallas --- or Zimmer leaving Cincy --- ---- I know it won't happen NOW --- but maybe, Pettine stays another year in Buffalo (i.e. he doesn't get Clev job) --- the defense is Top 5 and Whaley realizes he's got a great HC -- it's just not Marrone, it's Pettine
  24. I hadn't considered the impact on the assistants coupled with the picked over coaches market --- this would have a significantly negative impact on this team at this stage of the rebuild ----
