  1. Loved the play -- overloading one side and sending Kiko on the opposite -- Pettine designed it well
  2. Peter King has Bills too high at this point -- he does that on occasion to highlight a team with a storyline --- Bills belong in the 16-20 range ---
  3. Well deserved honor --- Matthew Coller says Mario has shot at Defensive MVP --- clearly, Pettine's scheme and Weaver's coaching is having an impact --- Mario is being used the way he should be --- he's probably the only person happier than Bills fans to see Wanny go
  4. +1 Whaley was taking input from Buddy, but the decision was Whaley's at the end of the day
  5. It was also Whaley with Brandon at FSU talking to the maintenance man about EJ
  6. Look, I have no bone to pick with Buddy, but the only way to objectively evaluate his tenure as GM is to look at the team he inherited and the team he left behind and the years in the middle --- he did some good things and some bad things -- Ultimately, he is judged for having 3 losing seasons and leaving behind a team that needed additional rebuilding and a new coach ---- in my book, that's a D (at best) ---
  7. Evaluate Buddy on the 3 drafts he was in charge of 2010, 2011 and 2012, guys he drafted and guys he didn't draft ---and UDFA's and FA's he signed / didn't sign --- players he resigned and players he didn't resign --- ultimately, Buddy will get a failing grade --- not an F, but a D --- if anyone sees it differently, I'd like some explanation --- the product on the field was the ultimate objective score and the team never won more than 6 games with him at helm --- did he leave the cupboard bare ? --- no, he added some talent --- but not enough --- Whaley so far gets much higher marks --- his first draft is solid --- but will ultimately be judged on Manuel's success or failure -- like it or not --- unless of course Kiko and Woods become All-Pro's --- I like the Hughes trade, he Branch signing --- not as thrilled with letting Levitre walk without a good backup plan (i.e.Rinehart or other) --- so far, his grade is Incomplete, but to date, I'd give him a B
  8. Marrone said he was told before he was hired that Buddy was out -- so, the GM is on his way out and he's going to make one of the most important decision this franchise has made in the past 10 years, drafting a QB in 1st round ?? --- come on people, it's completely illogical -- Buddy was a LAME DUCK by draft time --- this was Whaley's show
  9. Buddy ? . . . . are you kidding me . . . no way was this his draft -- no way he picks Alonzo or Duke Williams -- this was Whaley's draft from pick 1 through 7 + all the UDFA's --- if you believe anything else you are crazy --- No different than when Buddy was hired and he pretended it was Modrak picking Spiller --- didn't buy that either --- Buddy was out of the decision making circle in January
  10. "Just win baby", to quote Al Davis -- you win and you will be on as much as the other teams mentioned --- you win, your players become stars -- all of a sudden, Mario, Dareus, Kiko, Stevie and EJ are national storylines --- we've seen the tip of the iceberg several times over the past 13 non-playoff seasons when the Bills have a strong start or a couple surprising wins --- if Bills win, primetime games will come --- just ask other small market teams ---- IMHO, if Bills finish 7-9 or 8-8, they might get a MNF game to go with a Thursday night, especially if network execs are buying into EJ as true franchise QB ----
  11. +1 No way Freeman should have been in that game in first place --- give him some time and then evaluate
  12. Baby steps . . . . while Hackett concerns me, I'm willing to let him grow into the job during season and make evaluation at end of year --- I like the coaching staff, they seem to be getting more out of a lot of the same guys we had last year --- If you want to take GIANT steps forward, you need two things --- (1) Manuel to be "the guy" we won't know that until December --- and (2) get rid of Brandon-Overdorf and Littman, so this team can continue to grow and not be hamstrung in 2014 and 2015 by spending limitations Great win !! (all wins are great, I don't care how they get them)
  13. Thanks -- loved the interview --- "see ball, get ball" -- Kiko takes it as a compliment --- love it, football isn't that complicated, hit the guy with the ball!! A word of warning to coach, if he's taking financial advice from Kiko, he might want to seek a second opinion
  14. This just in, the mafia has officially changed murder for hire from "a hit" to "a Kiko"
  15. My "love affair" comment is based on many on this board having at one time or another called for Tuel to START, projecting good training camp practices and a nice preseason into something more than he is right now --- in addition, comparing Tuel to Brady is ridiculous Tuel is the definition of PRACTICE SQUAD --- a kid that has potential but needs time --- That's my main point
  16. Not sure I buy the love affair with Tuel after the debacle in Cleveland --- it was clear the Bills yelled from the top of te mountain with the promotion of Thad Lewis to starter that Tuel is nowhere near ready -- if he was, he would have played last Sunday --- I think the Bills will keep all 4 until they get another injury that forces them to add a player at another position --- in meantime, there is no harm except the dreaded splitting of reps in practice that hurts all QB's development --- BTW, it cracks me up that the Vikings are starting Freeman on Monday --- I remember last year Gailey saying that T Jax couldn't learn the offense after 15 weeks ! --- either T Jax is dumb as a stump or Gailey had his head up his a$$ --- I'll vote the later
  17. They have $20M in cap space left this year, might be tough to squeeze it in
  18. That really sucks -- so he is nothing more than a glorified PR guy -- he probably can't even investigate or dig for stories because it would be a conflict with his bosses --- can't be too rewarding of a job for a "journalist"
  19. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but best case is 8-8 -- most likely is another 6-10 -- good for a pick in the 8-12 range, AGAIN --- too many injuries and QB issues --- I expect D to improve, but O to regress or stay stagnate
  20. He panned the legend in the article, I know Kiko got burned a couple of times, but he was a beast most of game -- seems like most saw it that way as he is nominated again for rookie of the week ---
  21. You would think the Bills would toss Brown a bone now and then and let him break a juicy story, too --- all the NFL teams seem to want to take care of the national guys, Schefter, Rapoport, Clayton, Mort, etc etc --- at expense of their local beat guys I actually think most of these stories are leaked by agents of players -- that's the connection Brown should make and other Bills beat guys ---
  22. The concept is to allow yourself the maximum flexibility in future years, when you, correctly point out you have other players that you want to keep and should keep with expiring contracts --- why would you want the Bills to have $10M in Fitz money count against next year's cap ? --- at the same time, you and I and others will be begging the Bills to go out and sign a FA or resign Spiller, Glenn or A Williams --- I'm on a crusade because it's completely asinine to operate with this mentality --- think about it, next year the Bills have $120M to spend on player contracts --- because of a decision Brandon and the beancounters make, that number drops to $110M (charging Fitz's dead money to 2014 instead of 2013) --- that means $10M less to spend on keeping core players or $10M less to spend on FA's --- it doesn't make sense --- EXCEPT, except for the reason they are doing it -- to show a profit -- to prove to the other owners, to themselves that a team in Buffalo can make money --- there is not ONE legitimate football reason to do this --- As for your points on spending to the cap and success --- I've said this before and will say it again --- spending to the cap doesn't guarantee you ONE win --- however, I am positive every person on this board would be pissed off if the Bills had their cap number lowered by the NFL to $100M --- just like Cowboy and Redskins fans were when the league gave them that penalty a couple years ago --- so, why are the Bills lowering their cap number on themselves ? --- again, my BIGGEST issue is Fitz dead money --- and spreading into next year --- One other point --- would I like to be the Steelers and Giants -- YES, all day --- your talking about 10 SuperBowl wins and two franchises that are the standard bearers when it comes to consistency Yes -- I'll take the 10 Lombardis all day and be 0-6 and 1-5 in 2013
  23. All either of us knows is the facts --- right now, there is $20M in unspent cap space in 2013 and a big fat $10M in Fitz dead money sitting in 2014 ---- I will go out on a limb and predict the Bills will underspend the cap by at least $10M in 2013 and keep that Fitz dead money under 2014 --- if they do that, you and the other Brandon apologists will see why I've been saying all along that this FO (Brandon-Overdorf and Littman) are handicapping the coaches and GM and preventing this franchise from being successful --- my beef is not with Marrone-Pettine or Hackett and it's not with Whaley --- it's with the FO -- B, O and L
