  1. Now all the sudden I'm imaging Eli (who I never even considered before this topic). Eli would use Sammy and Woods as designed. If we added a TE and got better OL play we could (just saying "could") win the superbowl with Eli...like...as soon as next year.
  2. Looking at that list I go: 1. Eli (it will never happen) 2. Cutler 3. Locker 4. Sanchez In that order. All should start over EJ. EJ can remain on the roster developing as a #2 for now....if he can beat out a young guy we bring in as #3.
  3. I guess if I really felt like I had to sell the job I would consider overplaying EJ's potential. But c'mon, it can't actually be that bad. Between the talent on the roster, and the names of some of the guys I see us talking too...I would be horrified to learn that the Bills job (one of only 32) is something even the career coordinators of the world need selling on. The last thing I would do is end up selling my failure of a 1st round QB to people interested in a job I'm filling.
  4. I like Whaley but I have to agree that if he's coming on too strong about EJ in coaching interviews that is a bad sign. It's one thing to say he expects them to continue to develop him it's another to suggest that Marrone was unfair to him and he deserves more attention/playing time.
  5. McDaniels could be a good for us if he is paired with Shwartz. You have to keep that consistency on defense, and keep Shwartz in there in a leadership role that probably would be greater than the average DC. Then you let Whaley and McDAniels see what they can do with the offense. It would interesting at least, and in that scenario we would take some aggressive risks to try to get that thing pumping. Might work, might not, but we would be trying. There are other likely outcomes where we would not be doing nearly enough in the way of aggressive change to try to be better.
  6. Marrying McDaniels with Schwartz wouldn't be half bad.
  7. Works for everyone. If I were Pegula I would wonder why the hell I have this contractual obligation to pay $4 to Doug still...and why his contract was structured so that, if he had the opportunity to get another HC job, staying in Buffalo was effectively working for free.
  8. Cowher can hypothetically bring stability to the organization and attract and maintain good coaches with a reputation as a fair and good boss. That is what Cowher is. Keep in mind, we are behind the rat race at this point.
  9. Marrone is just an ass plain and simple. He thinks he's a Saint and reason for our success and tried power moves and fought with Whaley. He lost. He's a loser. Our team won b/c of personnel and defensive coaching. Not Marrone. Don't the let door hit you in the ass.
  10. I say keep him. He shouldn't be a financial issue at all so it is just a matter of keeping or not. I still think with a good OC and better OL he could be a big part of our running attack maybe even greater than 50% of it.
  11. That is why you might be able to get him for a 5th. I still doubt he could be had for that though. If I were the Browns I wouldn't trade him at all.
  12. 1) They just did this. Well, they made it easier to pass a test anyway. Hopefully that is enough for Gordon to stay off the suspension list. 2) Gordon is no Mike Williams. He would play. He would arguably be our #1.
  13. Absolutely. Gordon and Sammy would be insane. Gordon is great.
  14. Watkins was always contingent on getting the OL in order and a capable QB. If we ever do that, we will be glad to have him. If not, he'll be wasted and leave after is rookie deal is up (similar to CJ who could be still be great).
  15. The site you posted shows 1.5M dead next year if we cut him. Looks like they prorated his signing bonus over the life of the contract (as is typical), thus accounting for $1.5M of his bonus against next year's cap...aka dead money.
  16. Imagine what our record would be if nearly half the team (special teams is not 1/3 of the game) wasn't good (like it is)? Why would I do that?
  17. Goofy, pudgy Orton, was superior to EJ. Sadly. Agree about the season though. It was not bad. It was typical Bills in missing the playoffs and losing an important game to a 2 win joke-team...but it was still (somehow) an improvement on every season for the past 10 years.
  18. If we had to replace him, that would be a big factor. But remember, Kyle Williams is getting old and doesn't have much left in the tank. Dareus is an UFA next year. Other than Mario, no part of that stellar front is locked in...so to suggest that cutting Hughes loose would be anything but disastrous for us is crazy.
  19. Once again, games we would gladly trade for AFC victories. I dare say we are a playoff team in the NFC.
  20. Ya, but we would have been better off exchanging those games. Conference is important.
