Could be wrong but if I recall correctly Thigpen is in the 2nd year of a 3 year deal where he's making fairly substantial money as a back up. I think he's our guy for this year at least. If Fitzy struggles or is hurt the entire project we're building for is screwed.

It's pretty clear we got Mario under the perfect storm of conditions both in terms of us, the future of the cap, and other teams not being in great position this year. From Mario's standpoint this was not the best year to go free but here we are reaping all the benefits and he still got the giant contract so I doubt neither of us are complaining (yet).
