  1. Like most draft experts predicted, Rogers-Cromartie has far exceeded the performance of Leodis McKelvin. And, he never had a penis spray painted on his lawn. Aqib Talib is also far better. Oh wells.
  2. Jackson's performance last year put him squarely in the middle of the NFL in terms of yards gained, and near the bottom of the NFL in rushing touchdowns (fun fact: Mark Sanchez and Quinton Ganther had more). He was merely average to slightly below average last year, and as expected, his productivity continues to decline as he approaches 30. Not a big surprise - pretty much everyone saw it coming.
  3. I came up with this opinion by observing that the coach of the Buffalo Bills feels that C.J. Spiller is such a liability, that he is rarely allowed on the field. He doesn't touch the ball, and now we are bringing in another journeyman scrub in a desperate attempt to continue to keep him off the field. How does this possibly bode well for C.J. Spiller's ability to be an NFL running back?
  4. Two competent backs? One aging running back who seems to have lost a step, and one rookie who is a situational gimmick 10-touch-per-game back, who we might turn into a slot receiver.
  5. 1-5) Use your once-or-twice in a franchise's history opportunity to draft a franchise quarterback #1 overall. Recognize that the only way to compete for championships over the course of a decade is to get elite-level play from your quarterback. Otherwise, you rebuild to 7-9.
  6. Measuring Spiller against one of the least productive starting NFL running backs isn't a great way to make your argument, sir.
  7. I expect the quarterback to be the best player on the team. This is why we will draft his eventual replacement in April.
  8. Just some more evidence that C.J. Spiller is not a capable NFL running back. Ouch. This one really stings - I hope hope hope we can turn him into a slot WR so we can get some return on investment.
  9. There are actually people left that think Ralph Wilson cares about winning more than $$$$??? He sold out his team's competitive advantage for cash. That pretty much solves the debate.
  10. If after enough samples you just can't get it done, you probably won't ever be able to consistently. Some players step up in the clutch, and some don't. Oh well.
  11. Yes, this is what most sensible folks should have wanted coming into the season. Blow the thing up, go close to 0-16 to secure a chance at landing a franchise QB. Play entertaining football (not another season of brutal 14-9 losses).
  12. He is a fan favorite because he is a hard luck story, which Bills fans can relate to. He had to grind his way into the NFL from NFL Europe, and his struggles embody the struggles of a region. Same reason that many people are super enamored with Ryan Fitzpatrick - hard worker, guy without all of the physical tools making good through sheer perseverance. Also, he gives a decent press conference and isn't "thuggish" in any way, to contrast Marshawn Lynch who people never really got on board with. But yeah, he obviously isn't anywhere close to being an elite-level running back. Much like Fitzpatrick, both are bottom tier NFL starters.
  13. What's a Carrington?
  14. There is going to be around 50% of people on this board that will blindly support whoever the Bills starting quarterback is, because gosh darn it, that's how you prove you are a real fan. The other 50% watch the games a bit more critically and see some of the nuances that the others miss. Like the numerous game-killing turnovers in the clutch, for instance. Spritzy is a great stop-gap until our real franchise QB comes along. He will be a great tutor, sharing all of his big brain thinking with a young quarterback with the physical tools that will hopefully not betray him in the key moments of games. The Kool-Aid crew, ironically mostly the same folks who predicted the Bills would shock the world with a resurgent Trent Edwards and electrifying C.J. Spiller, pointed to Fitzpatricks QB rating. He was #2 in the NFL! You all are going to eat your words when he makes the Pro Bowl! The more sensible among us insisted that you'd see a statistical correction back to his proven (substandard) career numbers. And we were right. Spritzy is back in the bottom half of NFL QB rating and falling. This will be a moot point at the end of the season when we see how far he has fallen. The pick will be obvious. Nice, well spoken (and non-dog killing) fellow, and a real competitor that guy is. I wish we were friends, I bet he is great to hang around with. Just stinks that he consistently 'Goes on the Fritz' in the key moments of close games.
  15. Cue the laughable C.J. Spiller is the next Chris Johnson homer in 3...2...1... "Just give him time" is the mantra that desperate Bills fans have chanted year after year as they watch their failed draft choices die on the vine. Our guys have to develop and learn how to be good players while we watch the ones we pass on set foot on the field from day 1 and make an immediate impact. But hey, if Spiller averages like 150 yards and a touchdown every single game for the rest of the year, he can have a similar rookie season to Johnson. Except he is only a 10-touch at most situational back, so that'll be tough. But hey, he tore it up in college so that is cool. Slot is most likely his only role in the NFL. I'm sure Gailey is aware, which is why he doesn't really see the field with Roscoe performing.
  16. Delusional Bills fan alert. In this thread we are now seeing posters compare RYAN FITZPATRICK, a career journeyman backup to Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly and potential-Hall of Famer Drew Bledsoe. All while winning literally zero games, and making key game-killing blunders in several. I know that it has been tough sledding over the years with some terrible quarterback play. We've seen some really bad stuff, but don't think that because Fitzpatrick may be a bit better than J.P. Losman, that he is the second coming of Joe Montana. Even in his 'miracle run', Fitzpatrick is now in the bottom half of NFL quarterbacks in terms of QB Rating, the statistic that the Spritzy-lovers ran wild with when he was near the top. We are now seeing what the rational folks insisted would happen - there would be statistical correction that would end up leaving him right around his career averages when all is said and done. And trust me, getting his career average performance over time isn't nearly enough to win with in the NFL, which his former teams already know. Don't cut him or fire him, we all like him as a person and a player - just understand that you can't compete for championships year after year with a quarterback that consistently 'Goes on the Fritz' in the clutch.
  17. Um, Cutler plays behind an offensive line that is widely regarded as WORSE than the Bills line, and yet he actually wins some games. While the value of converting third downs and keeping a team in a game exists, there is more value in not consistently choking away game after game with blundering turnovers. And yes, quarterback is the literal most important in any organized team sport. Period. The teams that compete for championships consistently are, with hardly any exceptions, the teams that get elite-level play from their quarterback. Not 'good enough to convert a third down and keep the team in the game until a crippling interception'. Elite. Spritzy is fine to keep the seat warm until we draft his replacement. He will be a wonderful backup. But unless we want to rebuild back to 7-9, we need the potential to get elite-level play from the most important guy on the field.
  18. Spiller is a gimmick 10-touch a game player who will never be an NFL running back. Our best hope to get any value out of the guy is to convert him into some type of Percy Harvin slot receiver. Also, I love drafting players who, when put on the field, are "liabilities". Groan.
  19. Yeah, unless you like actually winning games and not choking in the clutch moments of every single game.
  20. Ralph Wilson: The only owner in the NFL that will sell competitive advantage in actual regular season games for cash money.
  21. There are a good number of posters here who will blindly support any quarterback the Bills put under center. That is fine. Reality is that Spritzer is a journeyman backup caliber qb in the NFL. The stats don't lie. Your eyes don't lie when you watch him blunder away game after game with clutch chokes. Sure, he is our best option now. Nobody really disputes that. But he is literally winless. For being so darn good, we have ZERO wins. Is that really good enough?
  22. People are actually debating whether Buffalo is a better city than San Diego? Lolwat? Ask 100 people if they would rather live in Buffalo or San Diego. If you don't get > 98 people saying San Diego, you asked the question in Buffalo. I choose to live in Western NY because my family lives here, same as most. It makes it better for me, but it has nothing to do with the area being the nicest place to live in the country. Also, everyone knows this.
  23. And again to correct PTR's misinformation - the game has sold out each year and is televised because of that fact. Not saying that there aren't no shows or that you still can't get tickets at the gate because of team returns, but yeah it sells out annually and thus the blackout is lifted as ticket sales crest average seating capacity (luxury seats are not factored in).
