  1. I'm giving Claypool the benefit of the doubt over the trainwreck that is the Chicago Bears.

Can you name a receiver in the last 5 years that has panned out for the Bears? Me neither.

These GMs play politics to cover up their own mistakes. Fields is a bust so let's blame it on the receivers to save our job.

Suddenly the Steelers are talking bout Fields running back kicks! Isn't that tacit admission that he's inept as a passer?

Claypool wasn't going to get many looks in Miami being the new guy in town with Hill and Waddle.

    This signing is all upside.

  2. There was less doom scrolling on the BBMB during the decade of fail. I can't believe the level of hopelessness here.

In the Clappy/Beane era we have been in the playoffs six out of seven seasons. We are way closer to the top than the middle or the bottom.

I had season tickets from 2006 to 2018. We had a grand total of one playoff game in that time and it was on the road at Jacksonville. So zero home playoff games in twelve years.

With the atmosphere on this board you'd think we were perennial losers like the Jets or Bears.

These are the golden years folks.

  3. I'm beginning to realize that drafting is largely about replacing your older, injured and expensive guys with younger and cheaper new guys.

I like the way Beane approached the draft. It shows we're building an organization with a pro scouting room instead of chasing glitzy names.

I expect Coleman and Bishop to start. If we get two more draftees to make the final roster I'll consider this a successful harvest.

  4. Boomer never did anything as player or announcer to impress me. Simms has won something meaningful and is a good analyst. I would put Jimmy Johnson as the best football mind ever over BB. Terry is the worst attention addict I've ever seen.

  5. I like what Beane did in the draft, particularly his avoidance of mortgaging the farm to chase a replacement for Diggs. KC has shown they can win without Hill. It might take more than one player to replace Diggs' production but it will be replaced. Don't think for a minute Josh didn't OK letting Diggs loose.

When you win double digit games every year your a draft expectations need to align with the reality of picking late. The way we drafted makes me think we are building a good scouting room and an organization versus throwing paycheques around. I don't expect Coleman to be Diggs 2.0 but I think he will be our Mike Evans.

The changes in coordinators gave the appearance of turmoil and instability but they turned out the be the right moves judging by results. I am sold after going from 6-6 to 11-6.

We are closer to the top with Beane-McDermott that the middle or the bottom. I thought catching the Chiefs on a Superbowl hangover last year was our chance but the threepeat is as big a mountain to climb as the perfect season and I'll enjoy watching our Bills spoil the party.

  6. The game will soon be unrecognizable with rule changes and schedule expansion. Park avenue seems to have lost sight of the fact that what made the NFL successful was that every game was meaningful.

The health dangers of football will eventually turn the sport into boxing where only the very poor or desperate will take part. Aaron Donald's retiring in his prime is instructive.

What will become of the blue collar fan bases like ours when the only way to get a seat will be with a PSL? Attending a game is already becoming a fashion show for the rich. And what of the culture of tailgating and super fans? The fun of the fans is what has made the gameday experience meaningful for a long time now.

That sports will collapse under the weight of gambling related corruption is inevitable. Only then will we realize that greed can destroy everything we hold dear.
