Many well off people give a significant amount of money to various causes. Why do you feel the need to tell him how to spend his money? I do not feel the need to tell you how to spend yours. The problem gets bigger when it spills over to other actions: If there is M4A, we will be told how to eat, exercise and why for the greater good, we will not get treatment. Lead by example - make a fortune and spend it on the causes you find worthy. Bernie does not lead by example - he has three houses and is a multi-millionaire. IIRC, he also under gives to charity more than the average person. But it is alright for him but not others. Why?

I agree - wish there was a viable option outside the two main parties. I usually end up with the lesser of two evils approach. Since the Ds want to reduce individual freedom more, this usually means voting R in most cases. The weak point for Libertarians is their foreign policy views - the world and US would not be safe. This does not mean nation building or interfering in other countries but making sure the US has a strong defense and willing to use it if necessary.

In the same boat until moved to Texas. It is really a NY / California issue, not a federal. In addition to no state tax, my property taxes are 1/2 with similar valuation. Services are equivalent. Why can some states get by on less?
