  1. I recall reading about Ellis when they drafted him, and was not all that impressed. I think during that draft everyone was hoping for a pass-rusher. The Ellis pick was a bit like the Wang pick--a position viewed as a need is taken at a spot where you will be lucky if it pays off. As for Carrington, everything I've read about this guy has me thinking we got a Phil Hansen type player as a steal in the third. All we can do is guess at this point, but it's always fun to speculate on the players they drafted, before the pads have gone on. Another player I think will one day be a solid if not spectacular player is Moats. Impressed by the few interviews I've seen too. As I mentioned in my assessment of the draft, I think he and Batten will be STs hellions this year. I think all of the players drafted this year will be on the roster or practice squad.
  2. I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to come to Buffalo and leave San Diego too. Probably never complain about his contract again...
  3. As I stated in my review of the draft, I think Gailey had to change his pants after he saw Spiller on the board at #9. The offense needs playmakers just as much as it needs help at OT. I am fairly confident that Spiller will help win a few games this year. I don't think there was an OT or QB they could've taken where I could say the same thing. He will not only have some big plays for the offense, but he will provide field position on returns.
  4. Cut and pasted from the Rumblings site, eh....?
  5. Some good thoughts. I have to disagree with only 2 possible explanations for not addressing LT and QB. A 3rd reason is too many holes to fill in one off-season. For QB, I tend to agree with those who believe there weren't any QBs in the draft or free agency who were significantly better than who is on the roster. To your other important point, can Gailey make something else work? For me, the best quote I've read so far is from TE saying he's never been around a coach who understands play calling so well, and how some plays are used to set up other plays. NFL defenses are so good, the more unpredictable you are, the more success you will have. I am starting to think that Gailey will make Trent Edward's career. The Bills will be far better than what the experts are predicting. Take it from an expert.
  6. I disagree that this defense has the possibility of being "total crap." I think at worst they will end up statistically ranked no worse than last year at 19, and at best a top 10 D. My best gues is somewhere in b'tween. The biggest difference is that they will be bigger and more physical and won't crumble in the 4th like last year. Hell, I think Gailey will even put the offense in the middle of the pack statistically this year, which is a far cry from where they've been. I also really like the new young talent brought in--it will be a raucous, competitive training camp!
  7. Is Mr. Wonderful softening a bit? Certainly not as bold as my prediction--Sorry LBF, but I am on record as saying he ends up being better than Phil Hansen.
  8. Mitchell sounds like the second coming of Maybin, which of course means your suggestion is not much different from Modrak's--looking for a job?
  9. That's the point, with these picks teams try/hope to get players who will contribute significantly. I think these 3 will. TO was supposed to help out Evans. Spiller will force teams to stack the box and/or put a spy on him, creating opportunities elsewhere. I read. Thanks for reiterating my point. You hope that one or more of these picks becomes a gamer, and if so, then you got gravy on top of your mash. Easy, it's called a message board opinion. It's a prediction Mr. (not so) Wonderful. Agreed.
  10. You can't miss on the first three picks--they have to contribute right away, and it looks like they all will significantly. 1. Gailey must have needed to change his pants after he saw Spiller was still available, and they wasted no time getting the pick in. He makes the O-line and QB automatically better, and will be a mismatch made in heaven. 2. A 3-4 DT was a necessity at #2 or 3. While Cody may have more potential, this guy has the work ethic and attitude. 3. My favorite pick. No Bruce Smith, but better than Phil Hansen. Anything productive after R3 is gravy. 4. Took a flyer on a flyer. Saw a catch of his (on youtube) that was amazing. Could end up being Lee's best friend eventually. 5. It's hard to refrain from male jocular humor--thank god we no longer have a Johnson at QB. Lots of reviews about his athleticism and potential as an LT. We'll see. 6.a and b. Two motors from small schools. These guys will be special teams hellions this year, and add much depth to the LB core (corps for that guy who whines about spelling). Lucky 7s. Roll the dice here. Liked the video on Levi. Like the attitude of the tackle soon to be guard. Overall: It's hard to pick someone from this group who won't make the team or practice squad. One can take the low road and say it's the lack of talent on the roster; I prefer to think they had one Hell of a draft. Final point: I am very happy they did not draft a QB early; no one in the class of 2010 was going to come in and help this team for at least two more years. Chao hombres.
  11. I'm with you brother! While last year was a good draft for the Bills (could be great if Maybin pans out), I think we'll look back at this one as what brought the Bills back to the playoffs and beyond! I have a very good feeling about Carrington... Not a glorious position, but he and Troup will anchor a run D we haven't seen since Big Ted.
  12. Really like what they did with the draft. I really like the Carrington pick. Should contribute some this year, but be an anchor for years to come. I also think the STs will be huge this year, both returns and coverage. Combine with an adequate offense, and this team will surprise people.
  13. Gailey wants to runt he ball and stop the run--finally someone who gets it. Bills should have enough talent now for the 3-4, tho another playmaker at LB would be helpful. Beefing up the front 7 will make one of the best secondaries in the NFL better. You are spot on about the O. The team will depend on an improved running game, which will help whoever is the QB. No more getting away with 7 men in the box. Personally I think Gailey and his philosophy could be just what Edwards needs. Finally, another thing I like about the switch to the 3-4 is that you have more LBs to play on special teams. Not expecting miracles next year, but I agree, the improvements could definitely move the team to 8-8, which would be damn good for the toughest division in football.
  14. From the little blurbs on each, all three picks look like high character, hard working players too.
  15. Boohoo. You have the #1 Rb in the draft. Get over it.
  16. It may be fun to come up with "what if" and trade scenarios (this is a general statement, not meant for any particular poster), but no one knows wtf! will happen on draft day. I have no clue what the teams ahead of us will do, both selecting and trading. I will base the pick on what unfolds. So y'all just chill and enjoy your beer next week.
  17. According to my wife, yes.
  18. Yes, I can. It's not neurosurgery rocket science. Run and stop the run.
