  1. Ahhh Bills' fans, to quote the Wizard of Oz, "Nattering nabobs of negativity."
  2. I guess I should respond to this since I'm on record with "we could look back on this draft as one of the best in their history," or something like that. First, I think it's agreed that the first 3 picks will contribute to varying degrees this year. Your issue is 4-7. 4th Easley: Showed signs of being a steal and future #2 opposite Evans. Given the time he missed, he would not be able to contribute much until later in the season. I think Gailey/Nix decided the best option was to IR him. One can find many quotes where Gailey talks about players who can help the team now. 5th Wang: He could've gone the same route as Easley, but they obviously feel he will develop fast enough to be the backup to Meredith as the backup at tackle positions. 6th Moats and Batten: Yes, Moats is clearly a ST player this year and I think any rational observer would say that's the best you can expect from a 6th rounder. I really like his future potential as he learns a completely new position, and I think he will eventually be a very good starting ILB for this team. As for Batten, I thought he'd make the team and help out on ST as well. I'm less certain about his long term capabilities. 7th Brown and Calloway: How many teams hit in the 7th? I thought Calloway might be a PS candidate, but apparently, as the draft guides said, he had slow feet. As for Brown, who's to say he won't be back with the Bills in the future? I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the Fred Jackson route to the NFL. It makes little sense to have a 4th qb on the PS since he would get virtually no time. As I said in my original evaluation of the draft, anything after the 3rd round is gravy. Me thinks you protest too much.
  3. My sense is that it's more than that. I think people now feel comfortable saying "they have depth inside now;" whereas, prior to the signing, I wouldn't feel comfortable saying that.
  4. Speaking of big cats, he reminded me a bit of Tiger Woods (no jokes please) as I watched the video.
  5. correct video: Nelson
  6. Very articulate and a future leader of the Bills? He's one of the last one's interviewed in the video. Oops! Wrong video comes up. Click on the shorter one titled "players react..." Bills interviews
  7. I think it's the optimal choice in this case, and if they don't win, you're likely going to pick the best QB in the 2011 draft anyway.
  8. Nice to see everyone jumping on my Moats bandwagon, even if it's in a backhanded sort of way. He is a player, no doubt. I think he'll start next year. Give him some slack while he learns a totally different position. Despite injuries, we will look back on this draft class and "all hail buddy"!
  9. Good job John. Rarely will anyone here admit they were wrong, and at least you are not clinging to your original belief. Now we'll see how long it takes for Joe in Macungie to come around....
  10. You are correct. The problem is that Maybin was not ready for prime time and the Bills took a chance. He was a kid, still is, and we'll be lucky if he is ready to contribute significantly this year. Maybe he will. Maybe Maybin will turn the corner (so to speak) sometime this season. We can only hope. I think he will be a solid edge rusher eventually, and maybe an all down player. However, it was a dumb move to pick such a green prospect last year. The worst thing is, by the time he is a player, he'll be in his contract year.
  11. nice article on A. Moats in the D&C. He got a lot of criticism from various posters based on his first game performance in a new position. He definitely looked lost out there, but it's to be expected. However, the dude is a player, and he's intelligent. As he gains experience, he is going to be difficult to keep off the field. The 2010 draft class of Troup, Carrington and Moats (I'm less certain about Batten) will be the bedrock of the Bills' defense for years to come.
  12. I guess I should've made a bet.
  13. It has to go better than the last one, otherwise my optimism starts to fade. I think Trent will lead the offense to a TD in one of the first 2 possessions. I'd like to see the secondary make up for last week's performance too.
  14. I'd say that J. Bell ahead of Chad Simpson is a mild surprise too.
  15. Interesting idea. I think the D would tend to counter with a nickel package if they ever saw those 2 in the backfield, but that would make running easier.
  16. Sounds like they are going to take the chance that no one claims him, then put him in IR?
  17. The game that gave me hope and made me think the TE had the "it" factor, week 13 against the Skins in 2007. Here's hoping he can get "it" started this week. Yes, it's the first practice game of the year, but I'd like to see something that gives me hope again. Keep hope alive Trent.
  18. Because of the lack of a true NT in Jeff Wright. IF the Bills had Ted Washington during that period....
  19. Thanks for the recognition. That other assclown steals my thunder, and I get ignored. You are my best fan mr wonderful. I'm tempted to predict this will turn out to be the best draft in Bills history....tempted...
  20. I thought schobel could've done well in a 3-4 defense--a Bryce Paup type. However, I'm glad Nix forced the issue. Everyone (but Spiller) is in camp busting their ass while Schobel was hoping to come back August 15th-. This sends the team and his lazy Texas a$$ a message. Good job buddy.
  21. I'm going to stay away from starters for this question and pick 2 guys who will get more playing time as the season wears on: Offense: Easley Defense: Digging deep and going with Moats.
  22. I tried to find verification of your original statement through a search, but I can't. Sorry, but I don't accept your circumstantial evidence. As far as I can tell, you can only collect social security retirement income if you paid into it, and the amount you get is dependent on the amount you've worked and paid into it. Do you have anything to support these statements now?
  23. I understand my statement and how it works. My question was for the poster who said that benefits are paid to those who never contributed to the system. I can't find any reference that says people who haven't worked can collect it?
  24. Someone can collect social security without working and paying into the system? why do i get sent a statement that tells me how much my benefits are based upon my past earnings? I tried to find this answer online, but best i could do was find the minimum payment which is still based on some minimum years of work.
  25. Got to consider the round these guys were taken in. If Carrington is close to Hansen, then it was a great pick.
