  1. That strikes me as an odd burden-of-proof standard, even if used elsewhere. If Wells assessed that there was a 51% chance of Brady's complicity and 49% chance of his innocence, then he'd have to find against Brady. Though reading the report highlights, it seems the circumstantial evidence went far beyond the minimum for "more probable than not" despite the lack of a smoking gun and may have reached the 'reasonable doubt' standard.
  2. Spiller doesn't have great vision. On the other hand, he's a remarkable athlete. I think Payton will know how to use him and CJ will be very productive this year. And because I like CJ, I hope I'm right. Bucky Brooks, after talking to some NFL colleagues, rated Roman the 6th best OC in the NFL. Yet, I'm not sure Roman could use CJ effectively as Payton. We're probably better off with Shady no matter how many all-purpose yards CJ gets with NO.
  3. I think he started maybe only half his rookie season... but awesome memory! I would have never thought of that name/player again if you hadn't brought him up.
  4. Yep. The Bills won this vote. Cool. (Good find, Yolo). On a recent edition of the Move The Sticks Podcast, NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah polled seven league sources to find out which team boasts the NFL's strongest front seven. The Bills garnered three votes while the Ravens, Panthers, Rams and Dolphins received one vote apiece. The Seahawks, Jets, Chiefs and Eagles earned honorable mention. The Eagles finished second only to the Bills with 49 sacks last season. If they want to be viewed in the same light as Buffalo, though, they'll have to improve their 15th rank in run defense.
  5. Good find! Here's the summary for those too lazy to follow the link: We all know Pryor is a phenomenal athlete. His ability to shake defenders and surprise them with his acceleration are among his most impressive traits. The fact that Pryor tested so poorly in this drill leads me to wonder if he tired early or perhaps didn't take this particular part of the workout as seriously as others. Or, perhaps he simply isn't as quick for the watch as he appears to be on tape. Regardless, it doesn't bode well for his chances at successfully converting to receiver or tight end.
  6. Here's Fairburn's cut at this: http://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2015/06/buffalo_bills_53-man_roster_projection_will_bryce_brown_make_the_cut_in_2015.html
  7. It'll be interesting to see how both these competitions will play out.
  8. 26 pages of ad hominem attacks, unsupported allegations, inane remarks, factual errors, misguided jokes, unintentional irony, and rehashed arguments... Best thread ever - TBD at its very finest!
  9. I think Joe B's final 53 will be very close to the reality. Most years, I don't really care. This year we'll probably cut a couple of NFL-worthy players.
  10. You could look at that way. Or you could see this as an attempt to lump all the disparate threads into just two: Positive and Negative (a plot CBF denies). But okay... I'll contribute. The OL won't be great. Neither will the QB play. But EJ will emerge as the starter and play well enough to lead a talented Bills squad to the playoffs. I can't remember the last time I predicted the Bills to be in the playoffs, but I'm predicting it this year. The drought is over. I hope these sentiments earn me ongoing admission to the Positive Thread. (Later I may find something negative to say so I can also earn my seat at the Negative Thread).
  11. Seems like some kind of social experiment. Get all the Negative Nancies on the Negative thread and all the Kool-Aid drinkers on the positive thread. So everyone hangs out with like-minded people. Sounds very kumbaya.
  12. I agree. He had 3/4 productive years with Buffalo because we did use him correctly - most of the time. He's more of a prototypical TE (tho not the best blocker) rather one of these New Age TE who are big WRs with excellent speed and no blocking ability. Unfortunately, Chandler didn't fit Roman's idea of a "Move TE." Chandler will do okay in NE but he won't steal reps from Gronk. The line Spiller ran behind in Gailey's offense was far from perfect Yet Gailey finessed Spiller to 6 yards per carry and 1700 yards from scrimmage. I expect Sean Payton to get similar production from Spiller.
  13. I had a professor in college who said all social scientists could be divided into two groups: lumpers and splitters. Lumpers like to lump things (concepts, theories, etc) together. Splitters liked to split things apart. CBF is a lumper. He's going to lump all threads into two meta-threads: Positive and Negative. There's no reason for any other threads. Except that most of us are splitters and we want a myriad of independent threads about about inane Bills related subjects.
  14. OC, this is crazy! I'm not exactly a wus who has spent his life in a protective cocoon. I've led soldiers into combat, hung out in bad neighborhoods on three different continents, and have broken up more than my share of drunken bar room scuffles in my time. But I've never been in a fist-fight since my freshman year of college because the bandit is right. Fights are avoidable. P.S. Actually, I am a wus now - a middle-aged, family-oriented one. And very happy about it.
  15. No. The bottom of the roster doesn't matter. The top of the roster matters and Percy Harvin was a good pickup.
  16. There are a lot of good players on the list but I gotta jump on the JC bandwagon for the same reason as everyone else: CJ's skill set fits Sean Payton's offense. Shady will have many more yards rushing than CJ but Sports Center will show more highlights of CJ this year.
  17. Other than Peyton Manning, which was a bit of an anomaly, when was the last time a team allowed a franchise QB become a FA? I suppose the thing about Rivers is that the same club did let Drew Brees go.
  18. Great summation by KtD. And I agree that I don't know. So I'm not sure how's I'd feel if Kaep became available and we signed him. I suppose my main feeling would simply be curious.
  19. I gotta admit - that's impressive for a man his age.
  20. It's amazing what age does to you. When I was young, I could throw a ball 55-60 yards. I didn't have a strong arm as much as I had good technique (for a WR). Now, a couple years older than Herschel, I can barely toss it 25 yards now. It's embarrassing. I can see a high school football practice field out my back window. Sometimes I think - with just a little bit of hubris and forgetting the ravages of age - I should go out there and show those kids up. I probably run a 10 second 40 now. I can't show anybody up. When I turn 60, maybe I'll find a touch league for senior citizens 60 and up. Maybe in that group I could be competitive again. Just maybe. If Walker can really run a 4.3, he's some kind of freak of nature. But I don't believe it. Father Time is unforgiving.
  21. I'm not saying this to defend EJ but I think QBR is a flawed stat and almost worthless as a gauge of QBs. It attempts to evaluate how "clutch" certain plays are and weighs them accordingly. It also attempts to divide credit for passes among the QB, receivers and blockers and then weigh the play accordingly. There's just too much subjectivity and mathematical gymnastics in the QBR. To give just one example of the goofiness of the QBR. One week in 2011 Tebow had a higher QBR than Aaron Rodgers. Tebow went 4 for 10 for 79 yards and a TD in a loss. Rodgers went 26 for 39 for 396 yards and two TDs in a win. Any system that rates Tebow's performance higher is clearly broken. Criticize EJ all you want but don't use the QBR to support your cause.
  22. JP was a great community guy. Used to participate in community clean up programs, as I recall. Didn't help him on the field.
  23. If you didn't open the link, Kryk says this: I don’t get to watch many Bills practices. But over the past three years I’ve seen him at rookie mini-camp, at OTAs, at three mandatory mini-camps, at two training camps and in games home and away. Manuel on Thursday looked as good as I’ve seen him. He was confident, assertive in his decisions, stepped aggressively into his throws, and was accurate everywhere: short, deep, on the flanks and over the middle.
  24. I don't know how the hell you found the IP Intelligence article. Who reads this stuff?
