  1. I can see injuries leading a coach to call a player done. But ego? Leopards don't change their spots - I get that. But RG3 is only 25 and still maturing as a man. His desire to succeed can still overcome his resistance to feedback (if true).
  2. There's some wisdom in here. But I would never take a job if I didn't have the resources to excel.
  3. Supposedly, Pettine had something to do with the firing of Dr. Jamil Northcutt who apparently didn't always getting along well with the coaching staff. Northcutt was the Director of Player Engagement and a favorite of Farmer. What does a "Director of Player Engagement" actually do for a living? http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/article-1/Browns-name-Jamil-Northcutt-director-of-player-engagement/2bbbbd18-060d-419e-af71-080bd54324f3
  4. I admit I never thought of this either. It makes sense. Looking back, we know that Marrone didn't endear himself to everyone. In retrospect, he certainly doesn't appear like a competent HC. Pettine could have easily decided that the Cleveland opportunity, despite its flaws and dangers, was still better than hanging out with Marrone indefinitely in Buffalo.
  5. I usually tip about 10% for really poor service and 25 to 30% for really good service. If you give me bad service, there's a penalty. But not as harsh as what Shady did. Nonetheless, you can't judge the guy by one bad tip. This is just one moment in the big totality of his life. Is there a pattern here?
  6. Here's my take on this debate... The season will answer many of our questions. All the name calling supporting one position or the other isn't helpful or polite. It doesn't persuade anyone and at this point I don't think anyone's changing their mind until the season gets underway. Regardless of what we think the likelihood of EJ developing into a franchise QB, we should all support the guy as long as he dons a Bills uni every Sunday.
  7. Drew Brees. I'm partial because I'm a Purdue alum but I enjoy his game and how he throws guys open. His skills, however, are probably in decline. While we're on the Saints, I hope CJ does well this year. And I second Khalil Mack because of the Buffalo connection and it's good to see a MAC guy do well in the pros.
  8. When you look at our top 3 WRs and top TE, it looks like we ought to be a passing team. We have the weapons. And, btw, our starting RB one season pulled in 78 catches. But then we have Roman for an OC and ? for a QB. I guess if I was a WR, I'd be disappointed.
  9. Dude, there are different kinds of courage. I went to war. Folks in different colored uniforms tried to kill me and my men. I still think Jenner is courageous. To face millions of viewers for the first time after going transgender? That wouldn't frighten you? Transgender issues are not something I think about much. They're certainly not a pet cause. But I thought his/her speech was nicely done. I don't want this to sound like boasting, but I was not afraid in combat. I was too busy to be afraid. Being in Jenner's shoes and giving that speech on national TV, though, would have terrified me.
  10. McCoy is what? 26? He's still too young to lose a step. We may worry about this later in his contract, but thankfully not this year. Fred had his best years when he was 28, 29, 30 years old. At 26 he was still improving his game, still getting better. Fred's not the same kind of back, of course. But McCoy still has shelf-life left on him.
  11. Good find. It's cool he bought his riding trainer a ranch.
  12. Wasn't the QB coach last year (forgot his name) who said that EJ didn't have an accuracy issue so much as a timing issue? Accuracy seems like it's mostly an innate skill while timing is more trainable.
  13. Interesting article but brings back bad memories. Whatever your opinion of EJ, I think most of us can agree that Marrone didn't use or develop him correctly. And we can also agree that Marrone's/Hackett's schemes and play-calling were poor. The statistics in the article won't lead most of us to conclusions we hadn't already made.
  14. Every team has stuff happening. I'm not sure how many employees a NFL team employs but I'll guess in it's in the hundreds. In the big scheme of things, the isolated actions of one OL coach is pretty petty stuff. Especially when we're talking about a misdemeanor. However, if the Bills have a string of bad actions, and handle them poorly, yeah - that's concerning. So I hope the Pegulas and Brandon handle this one correctly. They need to set the right precedent.
  15. I think the way many of these books are written is that coauthor or ghost writer sits down with the celebrity and interviews them. After a few sessions, the writer starts taking the recordings and putting them to paper, transforming the celebrity's words into coherent, organized English. So many of the words might indeed be Gronk's. But he probably never put pen to paper or touched a keyboard to produce the book. But, yeah, I agree. It sucks that many celebrities don't write what they take credit for writing. This includes books, songs, articles, etc.
  16. When Denise Huskins and her boyfriend said she was kidnapped, the Vallejo, CA, police listened to their stories, examined the evidence, and declared their assertions a hoax. And then demanded that the couple apologize. They discussed pressing charges against the couple for the phony kidnapping claims. Today the FBI arrested the kidnapper. Who should apologize now? Sometimes the first facts to come out lead you to the wrong conclusion. I'm not saying Kromer is innocent. I'm just saying none of us yet know what happened.
  17. I'm surprised Bucky Gleason, normally a rational writer, is advocating the knee-jerk firing of Kromer and the hiring of Morris. Personally, I don't feel we know enough yet to call for the firing of Kromer. Sometimes the "other side of the story" makes a huge difference in our judgments and we haven't heard it yet. And even if Kromer does indeed deserve termination - a distinct possibility - would Morris be the right choice? How did the OL perform last year?
  18. The ST Coach has little impact on the quality of punting or kicking. But he does have a lot of impact, I think, on the coverage and return units.
  19. This is funny. Sad, but funny.
  20. You may be right. But I really want to hear the other side of the story. Too often initial media reports are either slanted or just plain wrong. I'm waiting for the whole story. Needless to say, the fact Kromer was arrested isn't a good sign. But we'll see.
  21. I think this is probably true. I've personally never met any Bill. I once met a 49er TE when I accidentally stepped on his foot. He was cool. Met Jaws once years ago - he was apparently a friend of my HS football coach. Also cool. But I'm surprised at how many have had contact with Bills and ex NFL players. Where do you guys hang out??? I more or less never meet guys from the NFL. Maybe I just have poor facial recognition skills because, except for a small handful, I wouldn't recognize them if I did see them.
  22. It sounds horrible but he's innocent until proven otherwise. False accusations are hardly uncommon. Surely something happened and it's a shame that Kromer wasn't wise and talented enough to avoid an incident. But exactly what happened? We only know one side of the story. But if Kromer really punched this kid, and it wasn't self-defense, he needs to go. Coaches need to role models and ought to be held to a higher standard than the players.
  23. I'm embarrassed to say I hated the Crossman hiring more than the Hackett hiring. I figured Marone would be the de facto OC and that Hackett would simply do the legwork. Since Marrone wanted to run the offense his way, it was important to have someone who understood his scheme, and would defer to him. Crossman's hiring, looking at his track record at the time, seemed like a personal favor that was detrimental to the Bills. Man, my assessment was poor!
