Too many other variables outside his control: * the natural talent of the backs. * the work ethic of the backs. * the health of the backs. * the natural talent, work ethic and health of the offensive line. * the ability of the offensive line coach * the ability of the offensive coordinator * the ability of the head coach All these things influence the statistics generated by the running backs.

Media: * Anthony Lynn a lock to be next Bills RGM. * Bills situation toxic. HC candidates staying away from Buffalo. * Childress to be new OC. * Childress out. Greg Olsen new favorite to be Bills OC. * Olsen out. Reality: * The media is nearly always wrong.

True enough. But we won our wins by a lot and lost our losses by a little. And that's better than winning our wins by a little and losing our losses by a lot.

Are we sure about this? Even if true, Belichick requires his coordinators to run the Pats O and the Pats D. They're not required to innovate. They're required to execute a pre-existing plan. Not sure he could do that here with Bill to guide him.

I'm wondering what OC candidate has connections with our two new offensive coaches - Castillo and Boras? (Working under the assumption our OC has in fact been chosen and is engaged in the building of a new offensive staff).

I agree. You'd want to make sure there's good chemistry between the OC and the offensive position coaches, and some philosophical alignment. And I've got to imagine a position coach would really want to know who the coordinator was before taking a job. So a lot of us are guessing the OC has already been decided and is in fact involved. But who knows?

Why does it 'appear' that way? Does Vic have insider info? Or is he just guessing because he hasn't heard about an interview date? Not too long ago, A Lynn's hiring as the permanent HC was all but a formality - according to the media. About half the stuff in the media is wrong. So I only believe half of what I read. Unfortunately, it's usually the wrong half.

Marrone, a former OC, isn't going to run his own offense? This could be very smart. I never got the impression that Marrone was a brilliant Xs and Os guy.

The old saying, "A leopard doesn't change his spots" isn't always true. But it is true often. I'd stay away.

I get that some coordinators are better than their rankings say. They don't suit up. They don't play. Their rankings are very dependent on the level of the talent that does suit up and play. But, still, it would take a lot of mental gymnastics to conclude that Rob is a good DC.

Speaking of rubbing people the wrong way. Didn't cable punch a staffer so hard once that he broke his jaw? He's not exactly known for his Zen-like demeanor.

Somebody said he McDermott was boring in front of a mic but "fiesty" when coaching. I'm not sure it matters. Successful HCs aren't all cut from the same mold. You have to add the Bills to that list if Cardale is the alternative.

I use my smart phone for the time. But I wear a runner's watch when running. Then again I only "run" at 15 minutes per mile... so I'm not sure anything I do while "running" really counts.

I didn't truly appreciate how good AW was until I saw how bad we were without him. Still, I worry about the young man's health.

Yep. McDermott said a couple interesting things. (1) he was training for this moment for his whole life. (2) he plans on being aggressively involved in all three phases of the game. I don't think he plans on being a Rex type HC who is the de facto coordinator of one side of the ball who then allows the other coordinator free reign. I'm guessing he's been studying offensive and special teams schemes for years and plans to have his fingerprints on everything. Having a DC with experience allows him to get more involved elsewhere. Having three guys with experience means he doesn't need to get bogged down with minutia. Other than a short period that Chilly had with Favre, neither OC candidate have had the best QBs to work with. You play the hand your dealt. It takes more work, but to truly evaluate an OC you have to evaluate his players and determine if he did the best with unit's potential that he could.

I think some of you guys may have marched across France with Patton. Or maybe across Georgia with Sherman.

Or done without a lot of transparency. It's almost like the media punishes the Bills for keeping things close to their vests. "If you don't tell us what's really going on, we'll just make sh*t up."

It's such a roll of the die. Romo might last the entire season. He might not even last preseason. The risks are huge. Although there's no doubt in my mind that Romo is a better QB, I'd also rather bring Tyrod back.

Robert Woods deserves one. I liked Shady as a player when we traded for him, but not as a person. He's starting to grow on me though. The guy always give his all and seems to be a good teammate.
