  1. These are good questions and I know next-to-nothing about the individuals involved. But I do know that some NFL QB coaches are all about the mental part of the game. They examine the previous game to see if the QB was executing each play right and throwing to the right man. And they breakdown the next opponent, pointing out tendencies and opportunities. Personal QB coaches like Jordan Palmer are different. They try to improve a QB's mechanics, power, and accuracy. The two types of QB coaches could conceivably get along.
  2. When I was a teen, I was at my brother's house celebrating my nephew's birthday. My brother's best friend was driving home from that party when he was t-boned by a drunk driver. He was killed as were 3 of his 4 children. Count me as part of your 10%. I resolved that day that I would never drive impaired and I never have. I don't know Ruggs. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's a generally good kid. But he killed someone through his negligence. Mistakes - and this is a tragic one - have consequences. I agree with your close... It's a sad situation all around.
  3. I agree. Then again, I thought his career was over when the Bills cut him. I didn't count on Chucky.
  4. Yep. I'd like to believe we're building a dynasty. But we've never even once won a Super Bowl. So if there's a chance this year to make a run, we need to do it. In other words, if anything, we should look to gain assets, not lose them. Trubisky may never play a down for the Bills. But, man o' man, it would suck if our run this year was torpedoed by an Allen injury and we didn't have a viable backup.
  5. Now well executed by the Bengals. No one blocked Shaq and Burrow should have NEVER thrown that ball.
  6. Daboll knows 1,000 more about NFL football than I do. Still, it was hard to understand his play calling in the first half. We couldn't run on them - mostly because our OL was failing. We couldn't pass deep given their defense. By the end of the first quarter, the situation was screaming for dunk-and-dink. Whatever the cause, the offense couldn't find its rhythm - or the endzone - in the first half under Daboll's leadership. I would love a chance to talk to him and discover what he was thinking.
  7. I only watched some highlights so my point of view is tentative and limited... The kids seemed composed and adept at finding his receivers. But I didn't see him make any great throws. Guys were getting open and guys were getting yards after the catch. I'm not sold yet, despite the gaudy numbers.
  8. That's more than me. I'm perfectly aware of his Brady-less win record. Still, I respect his coaching ability. And I've endured too many sorrowful Sundays thanks - in part - to that man to take him lightly.
  9. I'm glad McD and the players will take the games more seriously than you seem to.
  10. I don't get the guys who say they don't care. The Pats are a divisional opponent. And they're playing decent ball. I'd rather have the Pats suck and give us two easy wins each year. But after they beat the Chargers, it looks like they can give us a fight.
  11. Did you guys actually read the thread the OP posted? Many/Most Fins fans do NOT agree with the whining about the Bills running up the score - for a variety of reasons.
  12. Where I grew up in Cheektowaga, there was a guy who often wandered around the neighborhood muttering nonsense. He was a WWII veteran suffering from what was called "shell shock" at the time. We're not becoming mentally weaker. Mental health problems have always existed in our country. We simply understand them, and deal with them, in more helpful & sophisticated ways now.
  13. Allen is a huge homerun. Lots of other base hits. Altogether, Beane is winning.
  14. If we get to the Super Bowl, I'll feel like we deserve to be there. Respect Tampa's/Brady's talent? Absolutely. Fear them? Hell, no.
  15. An investigator is convinced the son did it. I thought this was brain-full-of-batpoop stuff too. But the case for the son is interesting and not entirely without merit. Or, as Dan Rather says, the son theory deserves "careful consideration."
  16. As someone who only gets back to Buffalo once every few years, I'd love to see something like that. My Filipina wife makes grilled marinated pork belly that my Mexican friends use for tacos. They're fantastic. Maybe we should open a restaurant on Elmwood.
  17. I always used to think the son theory was crazy talk by the same contrarian types who don't think Lee Harvey killed Kennedy and we didn't actually land on the moon. But reading up a little, I'm less certain in OJ's guilt than I used to be. But I still wouldn't shake his hand.
  18. I’d Endorse Portland. Metro population about twice as large as Buffalo’s. Oregon needs a team of their own. San Diego. Screwed by the move of the Chargers. They deserve a team and have the population to support one. International Toronto and Mexico City… the biggest cities North and South of the border. No Fly Riverside/Inland Empire... They have the Rams and the Chargers. Orlando… Florida already has three teams if you count Jacksonville. Oklahoma… with a metro area of 1.4m, it’s too small. (But, then again, a team there would represent the entire state). Austin… It’s a growing, vibrant city but Texas already has two teams. San Antonio… Ditto
  19. You're right. But from a NFL standpoint, that's LA's market & fan base.
  20. Sometimes I hear players say something like, "I knew his rookie season before he ever stepped out onto the field that he was gonna make it." And I don't believe it. I think it's 20-20 hindsight revisionism. I don't think players are as astute about rookies as they pretend to be. Let me just mention Steve Deberg. When he was a practice squad player in 1977, I doubt if any of his teammates expected him succeed in the NFL. And I doubt if he changed anyone's minds when he was San Francisco's starter in 1978 and completed less than half his passes for a season long passer rating of 40! I'm sure his teammates thought what I thought: "This guy sucks and is gonna be selling insurance soon." Yet 12 years later, DeBerg attained the 3rd best passer ratings in the NFL, and the lowest INT percentage in league history, when he led the Chiefs to an 11-5 record. While DeBerg never became a great quarterback, I really don't think any of his 1977 or 1978 teammates predicted even his moderate success. Rookie performance doesn't always presage future performance.
  21. I can't remember the last time I thought the Bills had a good OLine. Maybe the 90s?
  22. I would have answered differently last year. But right now Josh is playing better than Mahomes. Who knows how these guys act off camera but I suspect Allen is the better leader, too.
  23. I get what you're saying but... In the NFL scheme of things, you've got to admit that the Bills have a comparatively easy schedule coming up. The Fins, Jags, and Jets have 1 win each. There are players on other teams who wish they were looking ahead at something like that.
