If one coordinator was guaranteed to walk…
hondo in seattle replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like Dabs and Frazier - both are good if imperfect. I voted Frazier to walk just because I think it would be easier for McD to keep the D going than the offense. -
Just musing out loud, not really suggesting this... Let Dorsey be the OC. Hire Payton as an X-and-O consultant. The guy is really good at schemes, play-design, and all that.

Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
hondo in seattle replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
Frazier didn't have a good game this time against the Chiefs. Every coach and player on the team had at least one bad game this season. Do you want to get rid of Allen for his poor performance against the Jags? Frazier led the #1 defense in the NFL. Who do you want to replace him with? The #10 guy? The #20 guy? The unproven DL coach? Who? Because HOF coaches like Bill Belichick always, always win big games. Like against the Bills in the playoffs this year. -
Looks like the call to squib may not have made it to Bass
hondo in seattle replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
This has already been talked about in another thread. All speculation at this point. -
As I roam around the country, I occasionally run into Bills fans who are not from WNY. At the regular season game in Arrowhead, for example, I met a Bills fan from Wyoming and you can guess what turned her onto the Bills. But, in my experience, the biggest reason that non-Buffalonians become Bills fans is the Bills Mafia. At least thus far. After watching Allen play in the playoffs, I think he's going to become the Bills best salesman.

What are the top three worst losses in franchise history?

Pick three of the Super Bowls at random. -
It’s time to trade for an Edge Rusher
hondo in seattle replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
Established talent is expensive. I think he's hesitant because he's careful about the cap. Especially now that Josh has his contract. But your right: we need a game-changing type edge. -
I hope they do - in a rout - so we can feel a little better about losing to the eventual champions in a coin-toss game. Also, Chief fans strike me as classier than some other fan bases. And I think it was cool Mahomes left his celebrating teammates to give Allen a hug.

I live in KC now and this is what I've heard from my Chief friends: The greatest game I've ever watched. You should be proud of your team. They played their hearts out. It came down to a coin toss, just like it did for us against the Patriots a few years ago. The overtime rules suck. The Super Bowl should be a three game series between the Chiefs and the Bills. They're the best two teams. Allen is a stud. So is Gabriel Davis. One of the greatest quarterback duels of all time. The game could have gone either way. The team with the ball last was going to win. Kelce should have been called for unsportsmanlike conduct. You guys will be back in the playoffs next year. And you'll get a Super Bowl win before Allen retires. None of the Chief fans I know gloated. They've all been pretty gracious in victory so far.

Provide you(r) own Hot Take Monday [edit]
hondo in seattle replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obviously, the D was awful yesterday. The 13 second drive was abject misery. But if we let Frazier go, who do you replace him with? Frazier coordinated the #1 defense in the NFL. Do you replace him with the #5 guy? The #10 guy? An unproven guy who's never been a DC before? The obvious answer about last night might be the correct one: their offense was better than our defense. Their OL was better than our DL. Their receivers were better than our DBs. And Mahomes played well. His scrambles made our offensive linemen play cautious - which bought him time to find targets. -
It seemed to me that after the first drive, our D Linemen were more worried about containing him than pressuring and sacking him. Mahomes absolutely played well - really well. But he had too much time. And KC play-design was sometimes getting people open and other times his targets were good enough to gain separation even when we had coverage. In other words, our D didn't make it hard enough on him. Which I suppose it simply stating the blindingly obvious.

Mafia outside the USA -- Sound Off! Where will you watch?
hondo in seattle replied to macnmotion's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is great thread. Fun to hear about the Bills Mafia around the globe! I'm jealous of the guys chiming in from exotic locales. I once watched a game from Korea but, boringly, I'll be in Kansas for this one. -
Kyle Brandt’s visit to Buffalo on GMFB video
hondo in seattle replied to AlfaBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm starting to become a Kyle Brandt fan -
I currently live in KC but don't share your experience. From what I hear, people here expect a fun shootout. I believe one local paper is predicting a Bills win. I do. I want to root for my guys. I can't root for someone who does bad things. At least not until they reform and redeem themselves. You can't say sanctimonious Bills fans accept the bad behavior of their own players but condemn it elsewhere. That's not true. Bills fans, like Chief fans, are not all cut from the same cloth.

Titans changing policy to limit opposing fans
hondo in seattle replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I think this rule is a response to the Bills and it's hilarious. Buffalo doesn't need a rule like that. -
Is Super Bowl victory or bust realistic?
hondo in seattle replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would love to win the Super Bowl. And the way the Bills have been playing lately, I think it's a realistic aspiration. But if each remaining game is a fifty-fifty proposition, we only have a 1-in-8 chance of winning it all. It's not a failure for McD or the players if it doesn't happen. Every team we'll have to beat has good coaches and players too. -
Have you ever gotten into a fight over the Bills?
hondo in seattle replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
We all face enough sh*t in the world already: Disease... misfortune... injustice... moronic political leaders... Why do we need to add to all this crap by beating each other up over a game? Peace, love and understanding. That's what we should all add to the world. -
Patriot friends of mine describe it more like this: There weren't high hopes for this year given last year's performance the fact they had a rookie QB. But the D did well statistically - until the Bills buzz saw. And Mac played well enough for their fans to believe the future might get better. They don't see this is a full-on rebuild - maybe but more of a reload. Still, my Pats friends are painfully aware that Tommy Boy is gone and Mac Jones will not be the next Tom Brady. They know competing with the Josh-led Bills is going to be tough with a QB v QB deficit.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Belichick retired?
hondo in seattle replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't disagree about Brady. It would be amazing to see the Bills beat the Bucs in the Super Bowl and dispense with all their bogeymen. But I wouldn't be so dismissive about Belichick. Bill Walsh didn't win a lot of games his first couple years with the 49ers. Vince Lombardi didn't light up the world after he left Green Bay. Even good coaches need good players. You can fault Belichick the GM, but Belichick the Coach is still pretty talented. Just getting this year's Pats to the playoffs was an accomplishment. -
