  1. Sounds like Ralph's kinda guy, no? But if you prefer somebody who communicates better, maybe Norman Schwarzkopf is available. He always seemed like a good communicator when he was doing those Desert Storm briefings. And if the Patriots start up with the videotape cheating again, maybe he could use his NSA contacts to level the playing field.
  2. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/George-Paton-sticking-with-Vikings.html You would think that with all his military command experience, a guy like George Paton would be a candidate for the top managerial job, not just an assistant. I guess he's still paying for slapping that cowardly but hospitalized grunt level soldier. Buddy Nix can't be too many years from retirement - - maybe we could lure Paton away from the Vikings then by offering him the top job (assuming he doesn't slap any players on IR in the interim for being unwilling to play "hurt") - - I would think that would be an offer he might be interested in. Wonder if he's still got the pearl-handled revolvers?
  3. Looks like you are probably right. Although this article says questions remain about what's possible for reconfiguring grass fields from baseball to football, it generally supports your conclusions: http://m.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/argos-president-not-fazed-about-lease-issue-at-rogers-centre/article2333198/?service=mobile The NFL field has a smaller "footprint" than the CFL field, so the reconfiguration issues may not be identical for CFL and NFL football, but that may not make much (any?) difference. It's hard for me to reach a definitive conclusion. Anybody know how, if at all, the smaller NFL field size affects the reconfiguration problem mentioned in this article?
  4. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/2012/01/31/bluejays_grassfield/ It sounds like a switch to a grass field, if it happens, would result in (1) non-renewal of the CFL Argos' lease, and (2) elimination of certain events from the Rogers Centre schedule. Would this make it easier, as a matter of both logistics and politics, to implement a future stadium "dig down" to meet NFL seating capacity requirements? I suppose there would still be events outside the baseball season remaining on the stadium schedule that would be disrupted by the "dig down," but political backlash might be reduced. If the Argos were already evicted (technically non-renewed) because of the switch to grass, it wouldn't matter any more if the "dig down" destroyed the ability to configure the stadium for CFL football's wider and longer playing field. For a related article on how a potential switch to grass might effectively evict the Argos, see: http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/2012/02/09/argos_rogerscentre_grass/
  5. Have you ever thought about the fact that (1) if you are so affected by the opinions of others that you consider them to be "poison" and feel compelled to tell them to go elsewhere, then (2) you lack the "excessive single-minded zeal" that a "fan" (by your definition) must have? If you were a true fanatic, the opinions of others wouldn't bother you. Just like spending time in prison and mental institutions apparently hasn't dampened the zeal of Madonna's escaped stalker.
  6. Best general explanation of the salary cap that I've found (last updated 8/29/11): http://www.askthecommish.com/salarycap/faq.asp And while we're at it, I don't know where this guy gets his 2012 numbers, so I can't say for sure, but they seem fairly accurate based on what little I can cross-check: http://nyjetscap.com/Bills/bills2012.php I do know that he updates fairly promptly. He already has updated for Sanborn and for Corto being cut.
  7. Rating quality of life is a pretty subjective thing. I recommend you try to spend a little time if you can in whatever location you eventually zero in on - - especially in the weather season that you think might be problematic. Sounds like you are thinking about moving generally south, so winters will seem easy anywhere - - check out the summers to make sure you like them. Some resources: 1. Tax information (all kinds) by state: http://portal.kiplinger.com/tools/retiree_map/ Ignore the fact that the link nominally is for retirees and click on any state in the map that interests you - - you will get all kinds of tax info for that state (including but not limited to tax info for retirees). 2. City specific information: https://secure.vacationstogo.com/wheretoretire/bi-online.cfm Again, though couched as info for retirees, every issue of "Where To Retire" magazine has useful general information about various communities. Note that you can see an alphabetical list of previously profiled cities (rather than rummaging at random through the above link) by going here: https://secure.vacationstogo.com/wheretoretire/cities_profiled.cfm Large bookstores, news-stands or libraries may have the current magazine edition so you can see the kind of info it provides - - if you are lucky a good sized library may have back issues you can view for free. 3. General info about various places to live: Root around here for a while (note especially the cost of living comparison tool): http://www.bestplaces.net/ and here (note links to finding and comparison tools, not just the top ten city list): http://www.kiplinger.com/guides/best-cities/ 4. When you narrow down your list, google the nearest big city name along with "moving guide" or "relocation guide" - - you may find that the local chamber of commerce or tourism agency will send you a free packet of all kinds of info upon request. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  8. Never really thought about it before, but could it simply be that when faced with an unanswerable question like "where did mankind come from?" - - diverse cultures attributed the answer to one of the few things that they all could see but not touch (and which therefore had a somewhat mystical quality) - - the stars? Does that make any sense? I guess that's a version of your #3.
  9. Tagliabue was a secret DEA agent who left tickets for Elvis? Well I suppose that might explain LT's and Michael Irvine's cocaine busts.
  10. Unfortunately, we can no longer consult the world's foremost (and funniest) expert on time:
  11. So you're saying that because there is no proof of Glanville's sanity, the idea that Glanville is sane is a government conspiracy? What does that have to do with underwater UFOs? You sound like my sister Darlene.
  12. If Elvis is really dead, why does Jerry Glanville leave him game day tickets?
  13. The store clerk was a woman, so the thief was lucky that "Captain Sav-A-Ho" was either off-duty or needed elsewhere (you can't make this stuff up): http://jontrouten.blogspot.com/2011/08/captain-save-ho-arrested-in-iowa-city.html
  14. The image was a little grainy, but it was a scarf, not a ski mask: http://www.iowatopblogs.com/Radio_Iowa/2012/01/12/Man_takes_doll_in_robbery_of_adult_store_in_Iowa_City
  15. He says just use fabric softener. It prevents static clingon.
  16. My oldest brother Darryl says that's just not believable. A cruise missile launch would be too hard to keep secret. Why not just turn the security cameras off for a few minutes and defoliate a shaped charge from a safe distance INSIDE the outer perimeter of the Pentagon? My youngest brother Darryl thinks we should use the alien ceramics for peaceful purposes, like renovating the Ralph with something that won't require expensive upkeep. Still sounds costly to me.
  17. Thanks - - I work hard at it. P.S. Remember Ruby Ridge!
  18. Link? Not saying you're wrong, but here's a link to the official New York state corporate records about a corporation with the same name, that also lists the Kercheval Avenue address: http://appext9.dos.state.ny.us/corp_public/CORPSEARCH.ENTITY_INFORMATION?p_nameid=415664&p_corpid=355631&p_entity_name=%42%75%66%66%61%6C%6F%20%42%69%6C%6C%73&p_name_type=%41&p_search_type=%42%45%47%49%4E%53&p_srch_results_page=0 I am under the impression that when the New York state Department of State ("DOS") lists a company as a "domestic business corporation" that means the corporation is incorporated in New York, as opposed to a corporation that is merely qualified to do business in New York state but incorporated elsewhere. In addition, here's a copy of the Bills' current stadium lease: http://www.erie.gov/billslease/stadium.phtml It lists one of the parties as "BUFFALO BILLS, INC., a New York business corporation having an office and principal place of business at One Bills Drive, Orchard Park, New York 14127." It's possible that there is more than one corporation with the same name, so I would like to see the source of your info about the Michigan corporation if you still have a link. Thanks.
  19. I wonder what the grunt-level Iranians will think they are working on when the Israeli jets show up?
  20. The CIA could make reasonable estimates about what a Soviet sub of a certain size weighed and design the retrieval claws accordingly - - for a sunken UFO made of materials from another world - - not so much.
  21. Last item shown in the following link is the actual text of the NFL's "2011 Resolution G-4" concerning NFL financial support of stadium construction and improvement projects: http://sduncovered.tumblr.com/ If the NFL recognizes that greater "private contributions" are required to fund stadium construction costs in today's political and economic climate, and makes loans available to team owners for that purpose, Ralph should plan on ponying up some of the $ for the stadium renovations.
  22. http://www.f-117a.com/Seashadow.html So if that object on the Baltic Sea-floor ain't a sunken UFO, why did the Skunk Works (the same place that developed the U2 and the F-117 stealth fighter) use the Hughes Mining Barge to develop and build the secret "Sea Shadow" ship (see picture in above link)? The Hughes Mining Barge had a huge claw that the CIA supposedly used to retrieve half of a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine from the ocean floor. Do you really think the CIA would tell anyone the real reason for building the Sea Shadow? Sounds to me like a pretty good cover story for a sunken UFO retrieval mission. Who knows how many of these sunken UFOs have already been recovered?
  23. Don't blame your Dad - - I figure you must have pushed little Timmy down the well in a former life and Lassie wasn't around to save him (after all, this is a thread about kids). Maybe all of us are paying for past sins!
  24. http://mo.palmbeachpost.com/sports/dolphins/miami-dolphins-want-to-make-sun-life-stadium-2146961.html http://newballpark.org/2012/02/02/49ers-get-200-million-g-4-loan/ If the other owners wind up being unwilling to loan Ralph/the Bills any money to help pay for stadium renovations to the Ralph, I for one will wonder why. Maybe it will be because they think the County/State can be coerced into funding 100% of the cost of improvements. Or maybe ...
