Why? Again, trying to understand the mindset.
Yea...sorry. Explained it a bit more in my next post.

Actually, somewhere along the way, whether it was actually TT himself or repeated by other players (I think the TV announcers mentioned it last game), Tyrod said if he got to play again he understands what the coaches want and what he needs to do. Hopefully this means he realizes he needs to throw the ball to WRs, even if it means there is a chance of an INT and that he needs to better anticipate throws. He hit Zay a few times when he did play in the second half, so maybe that was the beginning of a transition for him. I am absolutely fine with Tyrod if he starts to throw to receivers who are not obviously open, and gets rid of the ball quicker. I have nothing against TT being our QB, and used to be totally in his corner. That said, i CANNOT take more ball pats, hesitation and check downs. Yes, I would rather see five picks per half than that.

Boooo to this decision

20/29 305 yards 3 TDs 2 INTs ....Bills win!

Based on what we have seen from him so far and the way he likes to sling the ball around, no way he escapes without throwing a pick.

The question is why no wait a week? Because if Tyrod played well they couldn't make a change.... And play out the masterful draft strategy?
You mean wait a week so we can see 75 more ball pats and WRs waving their arms while standing in the middle of the field wide open? Wait a week so Tyrod can throw for 120 yards and we can be 5-5? Can you honestly say you don't get 100% frustrated watching him play QB? Are the two to three good plays he makes each game enough to leave you wanting more?
5 minutes ago, Dan said:I guess I get that. And, as a Bills fan, I truly hope he can and does excel. I just don't get the euphoria around it. Maybe, I'm just too jaded, but I've seen far more rookie QBs fail than succeed. And given that we have almost no actual game footage to go on, I really don't understand the certainty that so many posters seem to have.
I get that too. Nobody can be certain, but there's a sense of hope and excitement because there's a CHANCE he may do well, which is potential for a huge change of pace over the TT mediocrity.

This is my question to the Peterman faithful.... How can you say that? He played 2 series in a blow put game. I just don't understand how/why everyone is so confident that Peterman is the next great QB.
I think it's more optimism about Peterman actually being able to throw to our WRs and sustain drives, than it is thinking he's the next great QB. I mean, he's going to have to be absolutely awful to do less than TT. And, even if he is awful, oh well, as we definitely weren't going anywhere other than 6-10 or 7-9 with Tyrod.

Because this really needed another thread?? It's been discussed in detail in the Peterman thread and about 8 others.
I'll give the simple answer though. Peterman gives us a better chance to make playoffs.

I put this in a different thread as well when someone mentioned Vick, but I'm going to put it here as well.
This is interesting because if I were to ask who the better NFL QB is, Michael Vick or Tyrod Taylor, I am assuming people would unanimously say Vick. Well, if that is true...
Vick's best season was in 2004 when he was 24 years old with a record of 11-4 where he passed for 2,313 yards, 14TDs and 12INT. He rushed for 902 yards and 3 TDs this season. The Falcons were middle of the road on defense this year, ranking 14th overall. Fun fact, Peerless Price was on this team.
You want yards instead? The most yards Vick every passed for was 3303 in 2011with the Philadelphia Eagles when he was 31 years old. He tossed 18 TDs to 14 INTs and had a 7-6 record as a starter that year. Fun fact, LeSean McCoy and Jason Peters were on that team...along with DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Brent Celek (more talent than we have).
Aside from that 11 win season the next best season Vick had in terms of wins is 8. He did this three times, twice with Atlanta and once with Philly.
So, if we all agree Vick is better than Tyrod, and I really do not know how you can argue otherwise, it should be apparent that he has had more than enough time to prove himself and what he can do. What do you want to do, wait around for 3000 yards and a couple 8 win seasons? Vick played 12 seasons (tossing out 2009 when he only started 1 game) and won more than 8 games once. ONCE! 1 for 12 on winning more than 8 games. And people are really waiting on a less talented player to lead this team to the playoffs?
Yea, this QB change was long overdue

Tyrod is possibly the most athletic QB in the NFL, close to what Michael Vick was. But the shortcomings prevent him from functioning effectively at some of the things an NFL QB really needs to do. That was the story of his tenure in a nutshell. I hope Peterman can be a more complete QB.

But neither QB can pass rush or play run defense.
A QB that can keep the offense on the field will absolutely improve the defensive performance as a result.

I think the TEAM blows.
They started out hot and teams have caught on. trading the better young talented players on the team only made it worse.
Basically what they did was turn a talented team that needed a few adjustments(mainly better coaching on the defensive side of the ball) and morphed it into a 3 year rebuild project....for no apparent reason.
Most fans(at least I think)will be on board this year no matter how many losses they rack up to close out the season, but if they don't start out hot in the 2018 campaign it will get ugly and once again the wheels will spin.
I see a decent team that made the right choice to salvage playoff chances this year..if TT remained the starter we probably finish 7-9 or 8-8. With Peterman, playoffs become a possibility again. Now, Peterman may suck and not lead us there. The exciting part is, there's a chance he does. With TT, there was no chance.

8-8 can make a playoff spot, I think. I think TT could have done that. But we'll see what happens. McDermott made it clear he doesn't care about the playoffs this season. And maybe he shouldn't, but for this starved fanbase, I hope this was the right move. We'll see Sunday. Lose that game and then we are done.
I must have missed McDermott saying that. I thought he said something more along the lines of the moves he making are an attempt to win now.

You realize that there have been people here that held it hope for EJ even after the London game right?
Some people just don't like change.
I dunno. After a horrible start, EJ almost completed the comeback, falling just short. That's more than Tyrod ever gave us.

I can't believe there are people who actually want Tyrod to keep playing. Haven't you seen enough to realize he's just not that good?

This should fix that atrocious run defense.
I hope the kid is the next Montana but Tyrod has not been the issue unlike most of you seem to think.
If the offense can manage to not go 3 and out, and sustain drives, then yes, we will see improved defensive efforts as well.

Didn’t read 38 pages to see if this was questioned, but I wonder if facing Anthony Lynn, who should have the book on TT’s weaknesses more than anyone, had anything to do with the timing.
I would say no. TT mainly having only weaknesses, with the ability to only occasionally make good plays, probably was more likely the reason.

Peterman throws for 300+ against SD. Calling it now.

Multiple times I've seen people just handing Baltimore wins because the rest of their schedule looks easy. When did Baltimore get good? Fun fact, they haven't. GB may be a toss up, but I expect the Packers to win that one, even without Rogers. Houston could truly go either way. No way Baltimore beats Detroit or Pittsburgh. And, don't ever underestimate the challenge of a division game, especially in the AFC North. I see a Cincy win in week 17. Cleveland looks like a win for them, but again a division game with an improving Kizer and some players coming back for them. Also, an improving Colts team just gave Pittsburgh all they could handle and beat the Texans the week before, yet a mediocre Ravens team is just going to steamroll them?
I say Ravens finish 8-8 at best, more likely 7-9

Yes I want Taylor gone and dying for a switch to Peterson, but I do feel bad for Taylor and will never question the hard work and dedication he has to this team.
But like most failed in this QB's in this league, hard work and leadership can't compensate for the lack of intangibles needed to succeed in this league.
There's a reason why the guy was a 6th round pick and backup in Baltimore and now it's time to find out if Peterman is the same type of guy or perhaps the next steal.
I agree. Peterman is the only way to go now. But, I also thought that was apparent before now.
Tyrod's great days are mediocre for other QBs, his good days are far below average, and his bad days, like we saw today, leave people asking how he ever played football beyond college. Sure, he'll make a play that wows now and then, but people get a little over excited when he actually does something like 200 yards and 2 TDs, which is completely meh. Not sure why the coaches don't admit they also recognize how not good he is.

They're about to convert this 4th down

Throwing 7 yard passes on 3rd and 15 is frustrating.

Tyrod making Tyrod type throws to kill the drive.

I hope I'm wrong as well but don't see it happening.
Another stat I just posted in a different thread that isn't working in our favor is that the Saints are only the 3rd team in NFL history to start 0-2 and then win the next 6 or more straight. The other two went on to win the SB (93 Cowboys, 07 Giants).
I knew the Giants one, but wasn't aware of the Cowboys. Interesting stuff.
Fun fact, after the Giants won 6 straight they lost to the Cowboys to fall to 6-3.
