Agree, without a doubt, Jabari should have been re-signed. I love Terrence, but considering his health and the fact that Greer was coming into his own, Greer was the smarter investment. Buffalo is bad at retaining it's good players.

I don't think we need to use a high pick for LT.
Lucien K replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need a RT without a doubt. Demetrius has progressed and would stick with him in confidence that he will continue to improve. I think DE and LB are more important before a center upgrade. -
I don't think he's a great guy or anything, but this an example where it appears our prison system has helped to rehabilitate someone. It may have taken losing his millions, freedom, and hearing the anguish people felt over what he did, but I don't think Michael Vick is killing dogs anymore, and he certainly is taking football and preparation a lot more seriously. Your tax dollars and the prison system did what they were supposed to this time (so far.) That doesn't happen with a lot of people.

I am off the Fitzpatrick bandwagon
Lucien K replied to The Wang From Sang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In part yes. I said play him until you identify one of the handful that genuinely can fulfill the demands of the position, and be an upgrade. Fitzpatrick is a unique example since he is soo damn good at everything I listed, but with a glaring identifiable weakness. You might not get someone better, and the team has lots of holes. There are 32 starting QB's in the league, and it seems about 10 of which actually play well on a weekend. As a throwaway line, you can win the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson, but the team needs to be badass. We are not that. -
I am off the Fitzpatrick bandwagon

Fitzpatrick is great at reading defenses, knowing where to go with the ball, and working with Hangartner to identify blitzers and make sure the blocking scheme is correct. He will sling the ball, he feels pressure, is extremely mobile and a great runner, tough as nails, and the team responds to him. His achilles' heel would be his extreme lack of accuracy/losing grip on the ball a handful of times a game. This is why he is the ideal back-up and not a pro-bowler to me. With our immediate need for pro-bowl RT, a nasty DE, and 2 nasty LB's, unless the front office identifies one of the QB's in the draft as franchise worthy, stick with Fitzy and draft for the trenches. If you're lucky there is one NFL QB in a draft, 2 would be a phenomenal draft year. If the front office identifies him in earnest, pull the trigger. If not, try to fill those 4 major holes by taking 2 tackles, 2 DL, and 4 LB's. Draft 2 for each position of dire need. Amen. -
Draft Simulation With Carolina Picking 1st
Lucien K replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And whatever we do at the positions of need I hope the front office takes two people at that position. James Hardy didn't pan out, but Stevie Johnson sure did, and has been the brightest aspect of this season to me. John McCargo was a reach for a position of need, but Kyle Williams has done a lot more than work out. This isn't a new idea by any means, but important as the Bills build out from the trenches T, DL, LB. -
Anyone watch Inside The NFL this week? They did a segment on the NFL in Toronto and when the footage shifts to the actual game, Cutler is mic'd. He says in a kind of surprised way that the Bill's defense is pretty good, has some players, and that the secondary is great, but that it sorely lacks a pass rusher. It made me think about how much different the defense might be with Aaron Schobel playing this year, and (AGAIN!) just how much the Maybin selection currently is and can continue to set the franchise back. At the same time, it gave me hope for the difference that an impact player and pass rusher in the front 7 could have. Anyone else watch it and have thoughts? If you want a laugh Cutler really does sound like Jeff George 2.0.

When Nix was scouting with San Diego did he help scout Merriman? If so I would assume he has more information than some. I would say pick him up in a heartbeat with the way the D has been playing and our talent at LB, but wonder what the conversation would be like about him and if they've had it.

Aaron Maybin is playing out of position
Lucien K replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is sickening how dead on that is. YouTube footage of his sacks at PSU, much like his stronger preseason play against weaker talent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQfKvO0a_WQ -
Impressive over 10 posts in and everyone is in relative agreement.

Agree for the most part. I don't think Luck will leave school and don't pretend to have the knowledge as to whether Maillett is the real deal, if he is take him. Not sold on Locker, so that DL, LB and T become most prudent. Whoever is taken, needs to be sure fire prowbowl type at those positions. This also doesn't address possible trades. If possible to get 2 first round selections for where B-lo ends up in draft, I'd be for that. (I read it's hard to trade the first pick.)

The Fitzpatrick thread you knew was coming.
Lucien K replied to Van_phelaN1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree, if the legitimate QB is there with our first pick to select and develop, go for it, and let Fitz start for the next 1 1/2 or however long. If it appears no one of value is there at QB, don't force the pick a la Whitner, or whiff completely, like Maybin. We need sure fire talent since the front office hasn't been doing a very good job drafting it, at re-signing good players, or bringing in free-agents of value. -
I hear you, at the same time I wish he was showing progress as a pass-rushing linebacker. Orakpo was clearly the superior pick. I don't know how many times we can complain about the front office. Just on defense draft Orakpo instead of Maybin, and Ngata instead of Whitner. Resign your good players: Pat Williams, Fletcher, even Spikes and Jim Leonhard, Greer and Winfield, imagine what the defense could be.

One of the few bright spots this season. Great to see him make plays every week.
-
It sucks how much the team is missing Aaron Schobel to have any consistent pass rush.
-
Carrington played a fair amount in the Jacksonville game for anyone that didn't see it. Not sure why he is out today though.
-
If the Bills sign a vet I'd like it to be Kyle Orton in the offseason. I think his contract is up at the end of the year. I'd then take the best player either T, NT, DE or LB with our high draft pick. Let Jamarcus enjoy his purple drank and millions. Never mind Orton just signed a 2 year deal.
-
It was nice to see both Troup and Carrington on the field and involved in some tackles. I also like that Steve Johnson is getting a chance to develop and some statistics. That's about all I can say.

"Beast Mode" in New Eminem/Lil Wayne Song
Lucien K replied to Lucien K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the info. pointless thread anyway.. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXZvN2r1MEY I have no idea if Lil Wayne was referencing Marshawn in this song but it makes me like it more.

Trade Jason Peters, let Jabari Greer, London Fletcher, Pat Williams and Antoine Winfield go, BUT SIGN KELSAY, AGAIN!!!

Early signs not looking too promising for Poz
Lucien K replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Poz is a really good football player despite some of the bad things people say about him. The problem is he can't stay healthy and in my opinion be the superstar the city of Buffalo wants/needs him to be. I wish he never blew his knee out the first time and lost a step, but so is football. This injury makes me sad. -
A lot of fans day 'Trade Marshawn'
Lucien K replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed keep all 3 plus Joique Bell, we are short at tight end. -
Maybin sees his game improving
Lucien K replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If his numbers continue as they have in the first 2 preseason games, he'll amass 64 tackles and 8 sacks this season. I'd take that for a luxury project player with high potential that required a lot of development, and continue to think how dumb the front office was for selecting him, not Maybin personally. At the same time, one's own perceived improvement is important to development even if takes time for others to notice. I hope he proves the nay-sayers wrong.
