  1. He was very dissappointing, hold out, lack of production and looking very small for his position but it is way too early to declare him a bust. If he doesn't show massive improvement this year then I will join you in your assesment. He does have a few things going for him this year. He is a worker and he will be playing a position that he has a fighting chance to compete at.
  2. I was thinking the same thing, I think Maybin will do better in the 3-4. Nelson has all kind of skills and could make a difference in the passing game from the TE position. You mentioned the rest of the players above. If ( I know it is a big if) Maybin and Nelson pan out, 2009 will be the best draft in recent bills history. 5 starters is excellent. Check it out http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/draf...=BUF&lg=NFL
  3. Too much, this is a very deep draft, maybe a first and a second
  4. He might be referring to Matt Ryan.
  5. I have no idea, we can decide that when the time comes. If it isn't we can always go with EEEEHHHHHHHH from Happy Days
  6. Claussen played in Indiana, not exactly a warm weather local. If they play their cards correctly it might be possible to pick both him and a LT later in the first round. After 9, there really aren't too many teams that are needy at QB now with all of the trades that have happened. You might be able to move down from 9 to the mid teens and pick your tackle (this is where the 4 rated tackle should go) and then use the picks you garned to move right back into the first round to grab Claussen. It would take some wheeling but it could be done. That way the Bills would have their tackle and QB. It does take a partner for the 9 spot but players that teams covet will also be there. That would make me extremely happy. Or screw it and trade for gaither and pick Claussen at 9 and go out for Margaritas
  7. I know Holmgren reputation with QBs but is he actually going to leave his office and come down and run drills with him? I also understand that Delhome isn't that far removed from being productive but that was a lot of love they showed with his new contract. He was terrible last year, they must see something they can fix. It might also be that, if you are given a ton of money and the keys to a franchise maybe you want vetrans so that the winning curve isn't as steep.
  8. Move along, nothing to see here http://espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=231813 Pro style qbs with the above stat lines don't usually last until 9, The Redskins moved a 2 and 3 ( boatload???) for a multle pro bowl 33 year old QB with a few years left. As being reported everywhere, the Bills also wanted McNabb but he didn't want the Bills. I would understand why the Bills would want McNabb for that price, a proven commodity that will solidify your QB position for the next 5 years. No matter who we draft there is a wash out rate in the draft and that applies to all positions, albeit less so for OL. I understand all those who clamour for a wide body at 9 but Claussen at 9 is absolutely not a reach.
  9. How about Jameson Konz as a late round or UDFA out of Kent State. Read this link in SI and had to look him up because I thought his stats were a type o. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writ...list/index.html
  10. There weren't that many. Cleveland picking up Delhome is one of the strangest moves I have ever seen. St.Louis is going to draft Bradford. I can understand Washington making a move for McNabb and having Campbell as the backup or moving him for a 3 round pick. Seattle has a decent QB in Hasslebeck if he can stay upright. It is not like we are siting at 24 and we think we can get him. He is a easily a top ten pick and it wouldn't surprise me if Cleveland took him and let him sit for a year or so while Delhome increases his interception completion percentage. If you watch ND games, there were a ton of long bomb completions to Tate and Floyd, maybe Oakland takes him at 8 and says goodbye to Jamarcus. Wow now there is a pick that sucked
  11. In any case Claussen and scratch QB off our needs list and then move on to the next one, we have a few.
  12. As has been noted on these boards and every other source the Bills are not in good shape going into the season and the prognosis is last in the division. We have several needs, OT/DL(any of the 3)/WR/QB/LB/RB not necessarily in that order. You shouldn't reach for any player in our situation. It is not like we are one or two players away from making it deep in the playoffs. We need assets period. Take the best player on your board, don't take at tackle 8 spots higher than you should just because it is the most glaring need. Everyone knows that need is important and that it wouldn't make sense for us to draft the best DB but barring that is there any position on this football team that is that solid that you wouldn't take the best guy? If we stay at 9, draft for any of the aforementioned positions and I would be happy. This is football, you are only as strong as your weakest link. You can't run if you can't pass and vice versa. You can't stop the run if you can't stop the pass ect.. Give me a player.
  13. Tindale was an undrafted free agent out of Canadian university football, so it is a little hard for him to be over rated. With Mcgahee naming himself the best running back in football kinda seals the deal for me.
  14. http://football.about.com/cs/nfldraft/a/bl_mockdraft.htm This mock has Clausen going #30 to the Vikings, ( it was updated today) I believe all mocks don't anticipate teams moving up or down just their current draft positions. By the way, this guys' mock would likely make a lot of people on this board happy with Bulaga going to the Bills at 9, if we could trade back up in the first and get Clausen in the 30 range I would be pleased. I know a lot of other people on the boards wouldn't but we would have addressed two needs in those picks, guys with upside and not flyers in the third or fourth rounds
  15. Why would Homgren say anything? If he is telling the truth, no GM speaks honestly this time of year but....if Clausen gets by Washington I would say that he would likely be there at 9 barring some other team trading up ahead of the Bills. If Buffalo doesn't take him then it could be Jacksonville or San Fran after that ( again if no one moves back up to round 1) it could mean second round. Other than the teams mentioned as possibilities there isn't anyone with a desparate need in the bottom half of the draft, teams that may be interested Cinci (Palmer injuries mounting and didn't look like himself last year) , Pitt ( Big Ben could be in trouble, who knows), Vikings ( one more year of Favre and move on from Jackson and Sage) even San Fran may want to go with Smith and add pieces to make him better. Same with Garrard in JAX, he came on at the end of the year as well I believe. This could make draft day very interesting. Stay at 9 and then see what happens, teams may want to move up for other players and it maybe possible for us to get Clausen further down. If Buffalo does move down and can still land Clausen, assuming of course Buddy wants him, that would be a coup. If we move down and he is gone we might be in a position to draft an interior lineman at a more reasonable price point.
  16. Great point, the way things are now preparing for the combine is a full time job for the top prospects. They move to places like Arizona and do nothing but the drills that will move them up boards. For Cody, 350 is a magic number. If he hits it he moves up.
  17. sorry, I know people on this site like to see links, acually I misread the site this is actually from college either way he is dropping the LBs which again is positve http://alabama.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=8&...amp;nid=3076469
  18. We've all seen the photos and they are disconcerting, I don't know the guy personally, so I have no idea as to his makeup and goals. If you are going to draft him you would have to get feel what type of professional he would be. I know that playing major college football has everything a player would want, nutritionists, strenght coaches ect..but it isn't pro football. That is the gamble, is he going to be a Bruce Smith who turned up pudgy and then became a legend when it came to fitness/working out or is he going to eat himself out of the league like so many wide bodies. How would you know? One thing is for sure, watching the combine on this guy and he has great feet, which is the most important thing. I googled him and apparently he was 385 coming out of high school so he is actually losing weight not gaining which I think is a very positive sign.
  19. At 9 it would be a reach, at least according to the so called expert mock drafts. If we can move down or back up in the first round then fine. That position in the 34 is critical, if you don't have a good one it really takes away the advantage of playing that front. There doesn't appear to be that type of space eater on the roster at the moment so if we're making the move to that type of front we will have to draft one eventually. NT is a fairly one dimensional position, stop the run first, if you can have someone push the pocket into the backfield that would be great, meaning if Cody is that type of guy that teams won't run inside against from day 1 that would be a very helpful. I remember watching Bills v Jets a couple of years ago and it was 4th and one and we tried to run at Jenkins, as soon as the ball was handed off I sat down. From that point on I knew Jauron and his staff were limited when it came to offensive strategy.
  20. If I recall correctly, I think Stanton actually beat him out of the back up job for a bit. Dante has fallen off a cliff since his Viking days. There was the knee injury but I don't think I have ever seen anyone drop like that. FA signing to bring him into camp to see what he has left couldn't hurt. How many QBs would you normally have at the start of camp?
  21. No thanks, With our inexperienced line, even with OT taken at 9, Hasslebeck wouldn't last 3 games. He is pretty much broken down and in no way would anyone bank on him lasting the season. Hence the seahawks move for Whitehurst. I would have no problem with putting his sister in law in a Jills uniform though
  22. looking at our TEs, would you trade our 3rd pick for Olsen. The pundits all have him wanting out of Chicago now that Martz is there. Bears want a 2 apparently, but ours is a fairly high 3. Young guy, not a great year last year relative to expectations with the Cutler signing. IMO, we will not be able to draft a TE with his proven skills and potential for a 3 so I would do it. A good pass catching TE would help the QB and OL situation. Is Nelson the answer? I don't know one way or the other. Just throwing it out there.
  23. IMO-Once they decided to bring Mangini back as their coach, Holmgren would have to get rid of Quinn and Anderson. How do you coach a team when its obvious whichever starting quarterback you play you hate. I like Quinn, he didn't look good last year for sure but that was one really bad team and when the coach has no confidence in you it is not the greatest situation. That being said, Quinn had a shot to start and to show people more and he didn't, the last start I saw of his was a national TV game against Baltimore, the Browns and Quinn were brutal, Quinn looked like he had regressed drastically. Not the same type of confident player that played for ND. I can't believe we lost to them last year.
  24. 1 Buffalo ( no goal, wide right and quite frankly a list of games over the last few years that even with the benefit of replay I find hard to imagine that they actually happened not to mention great fans, tailgaiting, outdoor stadium in the elements) 2 Cleveland ( great support still lost a franchise that ended up winning it all shortly thereafter ) 3 Detroit ( Red Wings are a model of a great organization but Detroits' economy and Matt Millen move them up the list) 4 Cincy ( Bungles Years, a list of number 1 picks that busted out) Getting leaner 5 Minnesota ( great fans, hate domes but that place looks nuts, also several appearances with nothing to show for it, great hockey culture that lost the North Stars and they ended up winning in Dallas, I guess most people in this site would know that already) 6 Seattle ( used to love largent and curt warner, seem like great fans) 7 KC ( if they can win there is hope for smaller market teams, Royals used to be the best franchise in MLB until the league started eating itself, why am I bringing up baseball, I actually really don't care but if the NFL wants to see how to screw itself that is a good place to look) Now just filling out the list 8 Houston ( losing the Oilers blew ) 9 San Diego ( 94 was their last appearance I believe and that game was a blow out by the first half v Rice and Young, we know that feeling and it sucks) 10 Chicago ( after the '85 super bowl shuffle I am tempted to say screw em, but they are true fans, cubs and blawkhawk help their cause as well. )
  25. I agree, if clausen is there at 9, take him. I don't want to see Clausen come in and start game one, especially if the OL situation doesn't improve. Fitz or Edwards to start the year, whomever wins the job in preseason and then depending how things go, clausen either during year or next. Just for laughs here is a quote from Peter King, SI date lined Sept 30,2008 MVP of the Quarter: Trent Edwards, QB, Buffalo. My MVP is tied for 12th in touchdown passes with four, 10th in passing yards with 930 and 10th in passer rating at 93.5. But the Bills are 4-0, and the difference is an efficient quarterback who, like all the great ones, plays better when the game's on the line than any other time of the game. The Bills trailed 16-10 at Jacksonville in the fourth quarter, and Edwards threw a beautiful rainbow to James Hardy in the corner of the end zone to win it. The Bills trailed Oakland by nine with six minutes left, and Edwards led scoring drives to win it. The Bills trailed St. Louis by eight at the half Sunday, and Buffalo put up 25 points in the last 30 minutes to rout the Rams. He's got the steady-handed Brady cool about him, too. Oh well,
