  1. Wannstedt was a very good DC but he does run the 'Miami 4-3' I suppose we ran the 43 quite a bit this year so maybe it doesn't really matter but for those who don't like small fast guys on D, Dave is not your guy. That is of course he still would run that style of D, not many in the NFL do.
  2. Troup is the NT
  3. How fast is Maybin cut, after the weigh in at his physical I would guess or do they give him the camp to compete with Kelsay and see who wins out.
  4. I hope you are right, I just put 20.00 on the under at 56.5 points. I don't really know too much about these teams so just a little bet to make it more interesting Shows how much I know. A 4-2-5 defense against the very good run game that the Badgers have doesn't sound like I made a great bet. Although a good running game might eat the clock thus keeping the under in play. See, that is how you rationalize.
  5. I never have heard him speak but everyone goes out of there way to say how smart he is. Just like they can't say Fitz's name without mentioning that he went to Harvard. http://bayarea.sbnation.com/stanford-cardinal/2010/12/28/1899642/andrew-luck-2011-nfl-draft-watch-stanford-cardinal-quarterback-college a 3.5 GPA from a good school sounds pretty good.
  6. I must have a serious problem. I am looking forward to next season so I guess I am on step 3. The way things have gone for the last 11 + years steps 1 and 2 are the only source of entertainment for the Bills. Might as well have fun with the hot stove stuff because next year my early prediction is an optimistic 7-9 season. Does anyone have a number for a battered mens hotline? Happy New Year!
  7. I am not sure how anyone can even have an educated guess on this subject. Brohm has never really seen the field. Either Brohm will be the back next year because the coaching staff feels he has a chance to be a starter or he won`t. If they cut him they will have to draft someone to replace him, likely a 3rd round or better player. If that doesnt happen, they will have to pick up someone else`s `trash` for their back up or Brown will have unseated Brohm as the number 2. Having a back up with NFL starting experience does have its advantages but essentially the league is so short of talent at QB that very few teams have diamonds as their backups. Kolb is the only exception to idea that I can think of. There maybe others but I can`t think of any. Is there a backup in the NFL right now that would come in and beat out Fitz
  8. Don`t disagree. I would love to see the Bills pour money into the scouting staff and have the biggest scouting budget in the NFL. The economics behind picking very high year after year just don`t work. The pressure for the high draft pick not to bust due the increasingly high top draft payouts is enormous given salary cap implications. If Stafford doesn`t get healthy and ends up costing Detroit all of that money what remedy would the Lions have in building the team in a salary cap league and Stafford by all accounts could be a good to great player so it is not like the Lions blew the pick. I am hoping that the ghost of Christmas past woke Ralph up and explained to him that the cheapest way to build a winner is to pay for top scouting. Maybe Nix, as a longtime scout and grunt will have some luck in this regard.
  9. The Vikes should have made the SB last year but they were the victim of one turnover in particular. The Favre throw at the end of the Saints game was brutal.
  10. Watching Winfield and Williams for the Vikes hurts, Clements not so much. As for the Bills leaders, I think that Fred Jackson is a great leader not sure about any others. I don't believe the Bills have an attitude problem, I do believe it is about overall talent level and experience. I guess that is to be expected when you are about to enter year 11 of a rebuilding program.
  11. Made me laugh. This brought a smile to my face as well. I have a hard time remembering my daughters age and I only have one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHe1AT-rk50&NR=1
  12. I wanted them to win each week of the season as I believe that a winning culture doesn't just happen. I wanted to see young guys step up and for the team to become a very tough out for opponents by the end of the season. I also believe that, despite the teams record, the recent wins have created some goodwill towards to Bills in that they aren't seen as a doormat, their coach isn't a loser and that things may be on the upswing. I don't want the Bills to win this weekend. Especially if the Jets rest a bunch of their guys, play second string people and don't move out of the base defense or offense so as not to give up film to whomever they play next weekend in the playoffs. Just sayin' that I was never a 2-14 fan, cursing every win so that the Bills would have a shot at drafting a guy that may or may not come out, but this game is different.
  13. At least we didn't trade up to get Spiller as the Chargers did for Mathews. He did get hurt and then lost his job when Tolbert came in and did well. They traded up to fill a position of need when low and behold they had an undrafted guy that could come in and do fine. Apparently Mathews is starting this week, I believe he was doing ok until he got hurt, so we will see. I guess they thought they were a SB team that needed to replace LT. Drafting players is hard in the NFL
  14. I understand everyones frustration and I know that football is won or lost from the inside out but if there is a CB that the scouts have as a pro bowler and a guy that will start for your team next year you take him. The problem with the last few drafts ( I am not counting Spiller ) Maybin and McKelvin is that they were project players that were great athletes but had to transition to the NFL game. I haven't given up on McKelvin as yet but I do understand why fans would be luke warm to say the least. As for Maybin, I am praying that the move to the 3-4 will pay off for him next year. I need to pray because that is the only way miracles happen. If Peterson is expected to come in and be your best corner today then I have no problem with that pick. Use the rest of the draft to beef up and hopefully use FA to fill out the rest. We have seen FA come to Buffalo in the past if the money is right the problem is our pro scouting department sucked rocks. Hopefully this has changed, although there were a few misses in that department this year already albeit in a very thin FA market.
  15. I am fine with the Spiller pick and I am in the BPA camp ( within reason ) I don't see why people want to take the 4th best offensive tackle with the 9th pick. The only guy that was an option in my opinion before the draft was Dez Bryant, which would have been a reach given where he went but is it in hindsight? That would have really set TBD on fire. What will happen this year if they walk up to podium and announce Prince or Patrick Peterson?
  16. Off the Board on Bet365, oh well.
  17. I know what you are saying but players do leave Pittsburgh, in fact replacing soon to be expensive players with new guys has been the Steelers MO for many years now. Every year it seems as though a pro bowl leaves that team, yet they dont seem to miss a beat.
  18. Great article, I was wondering this when the Bills said they were going to the 3-4, why follow the heard? NT are very hard to find, as well as the rest of the DLine. Not to mention, offensive co-ordinators are building offenses to beat the 3-4 so why not be different. I am not sure what that D might be but it could be multiple fronts with good, solid and smart players as they have in New England. On the offensive side of the ball, if everyone is going to the 3-4 why not develop a power running game with screens and play action to mix things up. I guess what I am saying is why not be the outsider that has first crack at the best personel on both sides of the ball. As with the stock market I guess I am a contrarian. On idea for drafting a CB in the first round, apparently there are two very good ones in this draft. Are the Bills happy with Florence/McGee is McKelvin going to step up? Are the Bills going to lose a starting CB in FA? I do know that having a very good corner is always a priority for any decent defense.
  19. I would tend to agree with you but Drew Brees (I think) comes to mind as does Reggie White, but those examples are few and far between. The draft is the best way to go and then backfill with mid tier FAs that fit your scheme and team personality. The reason why draft picks are so coveted by NFL teams has far more to do with economics than production. After the first half of the first round, rookie contracts are not that high and they put pressure on vets that are due big raises. If a vet is due a big raise and there is a viable option in a player playing his rookie contract behind him on the depth chart the team moves to the younger player. This is true except for certain key positions. Lock up your QB, LT, pass rushing D lineman and best corner the rest you move unless they come in at a reasonable price.
  20. Geddy Lee was a playwright as well?
  21. I know it didn't work out for him in his last stint in DC but Gibbs is one the better coaches in NFL history, winning superbowls with three different QBs. Personally I love it when teams blow big money and still suck.
  22. sung to the Mennen jingle Coooo stanzo
  23. I was going to post this after last weeks Bills V Steelers game. Is there anyone in the league that is a better defensive player than Troy P. He is awesome, he single handidly beat us last week and has the big play of the game tonight. Without him, the Steelers aren't making the playoffs, they still may not. He certainly would look good in a Bills uniform.
  24. Gannon did win an NFL MVP award in 2002, if Fitz can replicate that feat that would be awesome.
  25. I do feel better when other teams don't sell out as it does reduce the likelyhood of the Bills moving. The problem is LA. The market is so large and the potential to make money there so great that all bets are off. Could the Vikes end up in LA, absolutely, Jags also. The Browns moved once and no one can deny the loyalty they received back in the day. I know that LA fans aren't die hards and have proven that they wouldn't support a couple of NFL teams now but...new stadium and hype would ensure that any owner there would make a ton of money. Even if it is just for first 10-15 years. The vikes are the prime example, new stadium for the twins/gophers and hockey then nothing for the NFL so they threaten to move. I don't follow it that closely in terms of local elections but I think there is a real threat of them moving first. After 10-15 years the hype will be gone and the stadium a little tired and the owner will announce a move back to Minneapolis/St. Paul
