FCC to make announcement here on sports blackouts
uncle flap replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
@john_wawrow: I certainly would be careful of consequences of lifting blackout rules. The threat if pay-for watching blackout games could be pricey. @john_wawrow: And once that pay-for watching blacked out games is uncorked, it may never be corked. Important to see both sides of blackout issue. -
http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/fcc-to-make-announcement-here-on-sports-blackouts-20140812 From the article: FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai – who was born in Buffalo – was set to join Higgins, Bradley Blakeman of the Sports Fans Coalition and Del Reid of the Buffalo Fan Alliance for the 1 p.m. announcement.

EJ looked calm and in control..
uncle flap replied to BackInDaDay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was encouraged by EJ's performance. I wonder if he was instructed to "just ball" or something like that, mechanics be damned. I say that bc at least a handful of times I saw ej go thru 2-3 reads and make the right throw, even if it was off his back foot or one of those "arm throws" where he didn't follow thru with his body. Watkins Williams woods and even hogan showed they can reel in less than perfect throws, they just have to get there. Obviously mw doesn't make that catch if ej checks down, so I'm less worried about a lackadaisical lob than I would be if ej doesn't even try to hit him. Someone be sure to remind me of that statement around week 4 when those lobs are getting picked and I'm clamoring for frozen ropes over the middle #babysteps -
Again, the Trust and Morgan Stanley do not need to advertise through the media.
-
Essentially nothing involving the actual sale has to do with PR, at least on the Bills/trust's end. Perhaps at this point JBJ and Trump are playing the PR game, but that is related to their "brands" and not directly tied to buying the Bills. There have always been a decent number of suitors (more than 4 most often mentioned). Some of the sources and reporters may be caught up in the distinction btw bidder/suitor/"interested party." I heard on good authority that Jimbo is NOT aligned with Gundlach, so it will be interesting to see whose group Jimbo joins, if it is ever revealed.

Keep in mind lines are set based on perception, not reality. Plenty of people (erroneously) think that a new owner will be bringing his own guy immediately.

I've been singing Dixon praises since the first practice. Dude will impress a lot of people if he gets any burn Sunday. Very, very quick for a big guy.

Anyone buy a custom jersey this year?
uncle flap replied to Cash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw a guy at camp with a Sammy jersey that had a RCW patch, so I'm sure they sell them. I believe it had a full collar as well. I'd call the Bills store rather than ordering blindly online to make sure you get what you want. EDIT: I didn't read the OP carefully, but I still recommend calling rather than using the online portal to verify your specs. -
I would think the leaks are equivalent to things overheard on the elevator at Morgan Stanley. The trust or the bidders don't have much to gain by leaking figures, although Trump might, just to keep his name in the news (especially when associated with a billion+ sale).

Bills officially for sale - let the bidding begin!
uncle flap replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wonder if Congel meeting with JBJ is a violation of that "wickedly" prohibitive NDA? I know Congel isn't submitting a bid, but the NFL doesn't like third party stadium ownership, and Congel did receive the NDA. In any case it's a very deliberate and desperate leak. -

Most Exciting Bills Game Ever
uncle flap replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm 30 so the best games I've been to were the two big wins vs the Pats* (2003 and 2011) and the Dallas MNF game. As others have mentioned, the atmosphere at the Dallas game was unreal. I was basically suicidal afterwards- going from screaming nearly the entire game to losing at the end was hard to handle. But even still, that last minute heartbreak doesn't detract from what an amazing game that was. Honorable mentions go to last year's Panthers and Ravens games. During those games there was so much hope that the Bills might be primed to make a playoff run and that they'd finally found a QB. Well, as Paul Harvey said, "now you know the rest of the story." -

On bb.com there are a bunch of videos under their "Bills History" section. Lots of video from many of the memories mentioned in this thread. http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Jan_23_1994_AFC_Championship_vs_Chiefs/c0e4db34-ce05-45d6-8124-5cad002b52c2 -
That dude is simply a "body" so they have enough TEs to run all of their drills til Moeaki gets back.

I agree that all sorts of stuff goes on behind closed doors that wouldn't pass muster out in the open; "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'" But I don't understand why anyone would think that Dareus would be "punished" in that way. The only thing I can think of is that Marrone would want to send a message that Dareus isn't going to get special treatment just because he's a stud. But that's based on Dareus not passing and Marrone not letting it slide. Any other scenario doesn't add up. If Dareus passed the test, but Marrone flunked him anyway- what is the point of that?

While you're right that none of us can predict with absolute certainty what will happen with new ownership, Brandon and Whaley were not looking to throw a Hail Mary with Watkins to save their jobs. They were looking to trade up and get an elite prospect long before Ralph passed. Even if they were worried about trying to impress their new owner, wouldn't they prove their worth by doing the best job possible? I wouldn't want to appear as if I was panicking. I'd want to appear as though I had a plan and am going to execute it. Which is exactly what they are doing. Anyway, it is not "win now" because of the ownership situation, it is "win now" because they've been losing. They've got a ton of talent in most areas, and often enough, adding a "difference maker" does just that: Make a difference. Coaches and GMs don't have the luxury of twiddling their thumbs. Every team in the league is in a "win now" mode.

It was a conditioning drill that he failed. He had to run 10 sideline to sideline sprints under a certain time and couldn't do it. Here's a good article on the subject: http://buffalowins.com/uncategorized/beyond-the-stats-nickelcitybills-runs-a-nfl-conditioning-test.html The CBA prevents that and the NFLPA would be all over it if that was the case. Punishing him in that way could impact Dareus's market value, which could also in turn affect other players' values. And what benefit would Marrone get out out that? Embarrassing Dareus? That's just as embarrassing to himself and the team.

This EJ Scouting Report Proven Deadly Accurate So Far
uncle flap replied to Billy Zabka's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha just saw this on twitter and it belongs here- wouldn't be surprised if one of the authors drew this -
The Bills offense more closely resembles Philly's than any other team. There's some elements of Sean Payton's passing game, but overall there isn't much difference between the Bills and the Eagles as far as play calling and design go. The biggest differences are in execution, not design. The QB and o line performances are why many of us didn't notice the overall similarity.
