  2. Does the fact that "Michael Jasper" is an anagram for Spherical Jam mean that we've finally found our Pat Williams (which is an anagram for Impalas Wilt)?
  3. http://www.drafttek.com/sophretroR1.ASP We at DraftTek have started our Retro Review of the 2009 draft for every NFL team and pick. Each analyst rates each of their team's picks, and the letter grade is assigned a point value to see who had the best draft (Round 1=Cleveland, Round 2=Buffalo, Round 3=Jacksonville). Here are my ratings and comments about our picks: Round 1---Maybin: E (-300 pts) --Maybin was no Orakpo or Brian Cushing --two picks fans thought they'd hear on Draft Day, and he's struggling just to take the field. After being 18th-most on the field Bills defender in 2009, Maybin slipped to 22nd in 2010, with no sacks and 5 solo tackles, half that of rookie Antonio Coleman and less than one-third of Moats' production. This season could be Last Chance Hotel for Maybin. Round 1---Wood: B (+150) -- The Bills have not seen much production from their 1st round picks in recent years, but Wood stands as an exception. He's started every game in 2 years, with the exception of 6 from his rookie season due to a "they're not supposed to bend that way" broken leg. Wood usually lines up at Right Guard, and along with fellow draftee Andy Levitre, have solidified the interior of the Bills OL. Round 2---Byrd: A (300) --As a rookie Byrd jumped into the limelight with 9 INT's in 2009, tied with Darren Sharper, who was on the field half again as often. For his outstanding performance, Byrd was 1 of only 3 rookies making the Pro Bowl! Back to earth in 2010 when Byrd snared just 1INT. However he continued to perform well. 14 starts, 927 defensive snaps and 88 tackles (up from 42 as a rook). Round 2---Levitre: B (200) --Levitre has seen 30 starts in two seasons and is a reliable pass blocker. He allowed only one sack his first year and two sacks in 2010, and earned high praise from Buddy Nix who said Wood and Levitre were #1 and #2 linemen on their board, respectively (number three that year was Urbik, who has since been added to the team). Round 3---no pick Round 4---Nelson: C-/D+ (100) --Promising athlete and possibly the best receiving TE in the draft. In his first game in 2009. Nelson made dive near the pylon for a touchdown. It's the only TD of his career thus far, as a neck injury and migraine headaches have hampered his progress in 2010. Played in 14 games with 18 receptions in '09 and in only 5 games for 3 receptions in 2010. Could rebound in 2011. Round 5---Harris: F+/E- (-25) --Played in 15 games as a rookie (two starts due to injuries) and posted 30 tackles in 2009 before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury of his own on January 1, 2010. Harris was waived by Buffalo after failing a physical near the stat of training camp. He was signed by Carolina 2 weeks later and posted similar numbers for the Panthers in 2010. 4. Kellen Heard, undrafted in 2010, has talent. He played on both sides of the ball for Memphis. He was a project on the O-Line but a very talented DT. He has a mean streak. http://www.gotigersgo.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/heard_kellen00.html Kellen Heard was ejected from a game for a vicious blindside block on McCoy in 2006. The Hit: He's 6-6, 355.
  5. I liked the use of TE Metzelaars, and the line blocking for Thurman. We should try that.
  6. I'm having trouble with the Math! How many times does 1 go into 72?
  7. Nix said he thinks Troup is the real deal. "Troup and Carrington are really good players. These days if you don’t start your first game as a rookie you’re a bust. It’s ludicrous. You really don’t know what guys will do until year three. They will get on field more (this season).... Troup played a lot (last year), Carrington played late in the year and got better every time he played. Troup he’s big enough to play in there, anchor the 3-4 and at defensive end."

  9. Great read I want Andre Smith.
  10. I've been looking for 10 minutes and can't find it. Link, anyone? And yes, I meant positive impact. Agree that Newton is the most volatile pick. Astro
  11. 1 Cam Newton Panthers QB Auburn 2 Von Miller Broncos LB Texas A&M 3 Marcell Dareus Bills DT Alabama 4 A.J. Green Bengals WR Georgia 5 P. Peterson Cardinals DB Louisiana State Given each player's position, teammates, teams, and division, which individual player drafted this year will make the biggest difference over the first 4 years?
  12. I applaud any kind of effort on behalf of our urban youth that provides accountability (maintaining a 2.5 average) and community awareness (15 hours of service each year). Braylon is a hero in my book, and urban youth need role models. Bravo, Braylon!
  13. The man went up against the best! “I did a great job coming along throughout my career,” [Hairston] said. “I was able to go against great defensive ends. My freshman year we had Gaines Adams there. I went against our scout team and we had Da’Quan Bowers come in, played a few years with him. We had Ricky Sapp, I went against him my freshman year, so that’s something that really came along. And I had to in order to survive in team drills, one-on-ones and team pass and all that.” Chris, now you get "D"-Are-Us and Kyle Williams.
  14. Nelson adds that even the rookies will be there. @DavidNelson86 @Bills_Chick Even rookies? DavidNelson86 David Nelson @Foul_Mouth_Baby yes
  15. Great fun! Cool post, and reasonable goals for each. I'll raise two: Carrington could very well benefit from Dareus occupying double-teams, and he's a big man. 5 sacks. Troup will benefit from the extra yr. of beefing up. Clog middle for LB's, raise run D to 20th in the league.
  16. C_Hairston61 Chris Hairston Bout to catch this lunch flow then the next workout going 3-a-days gotta be unfat fit and ready for camp I wanna whip like @jarvis99jenkins
  17. He'd know Tom Gibbons... http://www.buffalobills.com/about-us/front-office.html Git 'r Done Buddy!
  18. My Redraft since 2006: 2006 Haloti Ngata, NT for Donte Whitner 2007 Darrelle Revis, CB for Marshawn 2008 Joe Flacco, QB for Leodis 2009 Brian Cushing, LB for Aaron Maybin 2010 Tyson Alualu, DE for CJ Spiller It's easy to take a test when you know what's going to be on it.
  19. Go ahead--mortgage the future...
  20. Ah, it's nice to have an offensive line...
  21. Bills first rounders: Donte Whitner drops 121 picks. John McCargo drops 229+ picks. Paul Posluszny rises 10 picks. Marshawn Lynch drops 53 picks. Steve Johnson rises 210 picks. Leodis McKelvin drops 90 picks. The Bills' net was 24th in the league.
  22. I made the post in another thread, but the Bills have the #2 and #4 TE in the NFL--for thrown at/completed percentage. Watch for more pass completions to TE's this season. Could it be that we're on the cusp of increased TE use?
  23. Stupar was 2nd in the NFL in Percentage Caught (92.3% of passes thrown to were caught). Martin was 4th in the NFL (87.5%). It shows me that the Bills will be using TE's more and more in Gailey's offense. Astro
  24. What the pundits also don't know: injuries were responsible for many players missing long stretches during the last 2 years. The Bills used 9 different OL combinations. Ed Wang, Shawne Merriman, Keith Ellison, Jon Corto, Paul Posluzny, Spencer Johnson, Danny Batten, Marcus Easley, Cornell Green, James Hardy, Demetrius Bell, Eric Wood, Alex Carrington, Fred Jackson, David Nelson, Shawn Nelson, Antonio Coleman, Geoff Hangartner, Cordaro Howard, Mansfield Wrotto, Donte Whitner, Lee Evans, Roscoe Parrish, and Kraig Urbik. I'm sure I've forgotten some.
