  1. He's one of my sources. As an analyst for a draft site, it behooves me to track where the scouts are looking. Doesn't always mean they draft who you think they're looking at though! Chip Kelly suspended Cliff Harris in June for speeding (118 mph) while driving with a suspended license. We expect him to stay in school his senior year and grow up a bit and distance himself from his character issues. Oh, and elevate his draft stock.
  2. Chandler will be #1 in TD's among tight ends by the end of today. Book it.
  3. DraftTek has been informed that Bills scouts are going to be at the BYU-Oregon State game and the Oregon-Arizona St. game this weekend. Also Miami-North Carolina. Here's who to watch, in order of likelihood of them becoming a Bill (IMHO): -------------------------------------- OSU Lance Mitchell S #10, probably their top playmaker on defense, extremely athletic James Rodgers WR #1, only 5'7", 2 knee surgeries, but #2 in the nation for all-purpose yards Joe Halahuni FB-TE #87, big receiving target, 9 starts, 10 TD's, more the H-back type BYU Matt Reynolds OT #70, older guy since he's completed his mission. -------------------------------------- Oregon Kenny Rowe DE/OLB #58 - one of my favorite Ducks! Mark Asper, RT #79 Eddie Pleasant, SS #11 - savvy, impressive vs. Boise St. David Paulson, TE #42 - tall, good receiver, caught 3 vs Auburn in the BCS champ. Brandon Bair DE #88 - tweener type but most likely a 3-4 DE Josh Kaddu SLB #56 - I don't see him being drafted, possibly UDFA James, LaMichael RB #21 (Won't play due to elbow injury) ASU Gerell Robinson WR #8 Tall (6'4") wide receiver, quick, elusive Garth Gerhart C #52 knock on him is he's 6'1"--see what you think Vontaze Burfict OLB/ILB, may be him and Luck off the board first, char issues, long gone Omar Bolden CB, #3 (won't play) -------------------------------------- Miami Travis Benjamin WR #3 - 17 yards per catch for 3 years, plus punt returner Jacory Harris QB #12 - improving mobile quarterback North Carolina Quintin Coples, DE #90 -the next player to draw comparisons to Peppers, 6’6”, 285 disruptor Dwight Jones WR 6'4, 220 pounds, raw, inconsistent, but promising Donte Paige-Moss DE - burst, great use of hands, more bull rusher than edge sealer Zach Brown OLB #47 -6-2, 232 - instincts, read skill, quickness may move him above RD2
  4. I prefer the analogy to Thurman instead of OJ. Fred is a much better blocker, and OJ had the advantage of a superior O-line for most of his career. Also, Fred is looking for respect, Thurman's looking for his helmet, and OJ's looking for the glove.
  5. This is the key. Stretching the field. Lloyd's longest pass reception in the last 3 years has been 44 yards or more. Would the Bills be drafting a field-stretching WR in the first 4 rounds in 2012? Possibly, especially with Easley's heart condition. What if you got a tried and true WR (11 TD's in 2010 and 15 ypc over the last 3 years) and could still have a pick in each round?
  6. It's a very good write-up. It's run Freddy and stop their run game, daring Eli to become one-dimensional. It's stretch the field when on offense, and put DrayFlo on Nicks when on defense. Tons of pressure from the D-line, too. I hope we see Spiller and Nelson sharing time in the slot, a heavy dose of I-formation with McIntyre softening them up, and that we see some Chandler and Naaman Roosevelt. The Stevie Slant Play should also work. 5-1, baby!
  7. I was talking to a DraftTek visitor today who reminded me that our schedule in December is winnable, with 3 of the 4 being home games. Don't bother going to the Buffalo Bills website for the Bills schedule; it's virtually unreadable (don't get me started on the Bills website). But my prediction of 8-8 might have to be revised upward. I say we'll go 3-1 in this stretch: Wk13 Sun, Dec 4 Home vs Tennessee Wk14 Sun, Dec 11 @ San Diego Wk15 Sun, Dec 18 Home vs Miami Wk16 Sat, Dec 24 Home vs Denver
  8. Ryan Fitzpatrick is Top 4 in TD to INT ratio in the NFL with SF's Smith, GB's Rodgers, and DET's Matthew Stafford. source Ryan Fitzpatrick is the least sacked QB with 3 sacks in 5 games, and the only QB with less than a sack a game. source The Bills lead the NFL in INT's. Jackson is #3 in the NFL with 480 yards rushing, behind McFadden and Adrian Peterson. He's tied for 2nd in the NFL in TD's with 5, and tied for 1st in the AFC with Benjarvus Green-Ellis (NEP*). source Jackson is tied for 1st in the NFL with McFadden for runs of 20+ yards (7) Scott Chandler and Tony Gonzalez are 2nd in the NFL to Gronkowski (NEP*) for TD's. Dwan Edwards is 6th in the NFL among DE's in tackles. source Nick Barnett is 2nd among ILB's in the NFL in tackles, now 1 tackle behind Desmond Bishop of GB. He's 2nd in passes defensed and tied for 1st in INT's. source George Wilson is #1 in the NFL in tackles among SS's. Byrd is #1 in the NFL in tackles among FS's. source Bills (32.8) are 3rd in Points per Game to the Packers (34.6) and Patriots (33.0) in Points Per Game source The Bills OL is tied for 1st in the NFL in Power Ranking to the Left AND to the Right (18th up the Middle). They are #2 in the NFL in Rushing TD's. They are 4th in Yards, 4th in Average Rush, and #1 in Sacks Allowed. source Bills are 3rd in rushing average in the NFL (Eagles=1, Vikes-Raiders=2). source Bills are 2nd in the NFL in rushing TD's to the Raiders. source Bills are 3rd in the NFL in Percentage of Plays resulting in First Downs (but running QB's are 1 and 2--Vick's Eagles and Newton's Panthers). source
  9. Once again, I wore my undefeated Bills t-shirt. It was in the wash last week. Sorry.
  10. The Bills control the clock by running up the middle (Wood-Levitre-Jackson), and lead by 14 at the half. Learning from last week, they play their first complete game of the season and win by 21. Batten, Merriman, Carrington, Dareus, and Moats each have sacks on Vick in the second half. Bills 42, Eagles 21
  11. This isn't the whole game; just the highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebUidLNoR-E&feature=related
  12. http://www.drafttek.com/PositionalCB.asp We have Hosley 11th, the seniors ahead of him being Dennard, Minnifield, Janoris Jenkins, Coryell Judie, Donnie Fletcher, and Brandon Boykin. Hosley is the smallest of the seven. I'd expect him to be there in RD#3, depending where we draft. Hosley is a ballhawk. He led the nation in INT's as a sophomore, and has had 11 INT's in 14 games.
  13. The Premium Stats at http://www.ProFootballFocus.com (one of my favorite perks as DraftTek Analyst) shows overall NFL Ratings for OLB's. The lower the number, the better. Four OLB's are all tied for First Place with a 0.0 rating: Westerman, Barwin, Hali, and Sheffield. Kelsay is in a four-way tie for Second Place with a 39.6 rating with Parys Haralson, Aldon Smith, and Jason Taylor. Of the 49 OLB's in a 3-4 scheme: Kelsay is the 6th best OLB in pass defense, 26th in run defense. Batten is the 29th best OLB in pass defense, 33rd in run defense. Merriman is the 44th best OLB in pass defense, 41st in run defense. Moats is the 23rd best OLB in pass defense, 20th in run defense. (with far fewer snaps) I still think we'll be looking for OLB help early in the draft.
  14. Fitz is the youngest AFC QB with a 85 Rating or higher. source Fitz's 9 TD and 3 INT is the best ratio in the AFC. source Fitz is tied for the AFC lead for being the least sacked. source In the AFC, only BUF has dual RB's with rushing averages over 6 ypc (minimum 12 rushes). Fred has the most TD's in the AFC (four). source Fred is tied with McFadden for the most 20+ runs in the AFC (six) source Fred has the most yards without a fumble in the AFC. source Buffalo is the only team in the AFC with two WR's in the top 10 in receptions (Johnson/Nelson)and three in the top 20 (Jones). NYJ has 1 in the top 24. source Those Bills receivers are age 25, 24, and 23. The 3 top NE WR's are 30, 32, and 33-----5, 8, and 10 years older. Nick Barnett leads all 3-4 ILB's in tackles. He's 30. (#2= Takeo Spikes at age 34, #3=Ray Lewis at 36) source Only one team in the NFL has 3 defensive backs with at least 24 tackles--Buffalo. Wilson/Byrd are both in the top 4 in the NFL, and Bryan Scott #22. Florence, Scott, McKelvin's and Wilson's combined 8 INTs tie for the lead in the NFL (GreenBay). source
  15. I'm sure everybody saw that McIntyre blocked 2 players on the 2nd TD. WHAM! WHAM! Thank you McI...
  16. I'd have to say Demarcus Ware 2.0 will be Brandon Jenkins from Florida State. 13.5 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss last year and 2 sacks already this year. Watch him next weekend 12:30 PM ET against Wake Forest (who actually has a better conference record at this point) and see what you think. Would he be available at RD1#32, I dunno.
  17. Thanks for the props, Labatt. I'm not asking people to open my threads about the draft. For me, it's hard to watch college football without the context of making an improving Bills team better. It's a dynamic process that fascinates me; what's seen as necessary for the Bills in one month isn't seen as necessary 2 months later, and I enjoy the research. Astro
  18. I confess I've watched all of Moore's games over the last 3 years and have a son in Boise. However, with Fitz being the franchise, we don't have much behind him. Moore is a winner who would be able to step in and save season. I have a feeling the Bills will be picking lower than #18, but my biggest fear is that it will need to be a CB.
  19. 1 18 Buffalo Brandon Thompson DT Clemson--best DT prospect in the draft, space-eater 2 50 Buffalo Mike Adams OT Ohio State---First Rounder drops to here due to suspension 3 82 Buffalo Shaun Prater CB Iowa---68 tkl, 4 INTs, 6 PBU's and a fumble recovery. 4 114 Buffalo Isaiah Pead RB Cincinnati---ran for 1,029 yd, 6 TD's, an East-best 6.6 ypc 4 121 Buffalo Jon. Massaquoi OLB34 Troy---DraftScout Rated #3 out of 168 OLB's 5 146 Buffalo Kellen Moore QB Boise State---Bills need a better backup, with Elway in him 6 178 Buffalo Anthony Miller TE California--- 7 210 Buffalo Mychal Kendricks ILB California
  20. This to me is why we're keeping OLB34 as a high positional need at DraftTek. Unless Merriman lights it up vs the Bengals, we're going to need another. I think Carrington is a player at DE especially as the field gets shorter in the red zone.
  21. I like Rogers, but he'll be green compared to McLovin - Florence. I think we'll see some Terrence Wheatley in dime. Could DaNorris Searcy be considered? Looked good out there yesterday. Gailey: "It leaves us thin there. Justin Rogers has to come on. He just has to get ready to go. "
  22. In case you needed more reason to like him, Ryan Fitzpatrick did his interview in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt today. --Joe Buscaglia and Tim Russert is smiling down from heaven right now after that one!
  23. The last time the Bills beat the Patriots, Facebook didn't exist. Neither did Twitter. also The Bills beat the Patriots! In other news, hamburgers eat people.
  24. Nope. I wear my Winfield to the Winfield Grill. Waste of $180.
