  1. As a OLB34, he'll never play a down in the NFL. The assault on a teammate, the spitting incident 11 days ago, the playing time plummeting this year, etc. makes him the most overrated linebacker in the draft. One of the analysts says: "He just hasn’t developed at all. He still has plenty of upside if the light comes on for him, but I’m not sure exactly what that requires. I think if he worked harder to get stronger and improve his hand usage he might progress next year as a senior, but he will have to earn his starting spot back or make a serious impact as a rotational guy." And he wasn't talking about Maybin.
  2. Best Bet today: Watch Adrian Robinson OLB34 for Wyoming at 2:00 on ESPN. We have him as a sixth rounder. DB Tashaun Gipson, also on Wyoming, is a big defensive back (6’0″/205) that has experience playing corner and free safety. Tonight, watch Ladarius Green at TE for Louisiana-Lafayette at 9:00 on ESPN. We have him at RD5. SD State has Ryan Lindley at QB as L-L's opponent.
  3. As DraftTek's Bills Analyst I find it helpful to know which prospects I need to watch in each game during bowl season. This year, I'll be tied up with (or by) grandchildren for the earlier bowls, so I want to share my list with TSW to get your help. Here is a link to my Google Doc. I'd appreciate help this year, especially through the earlier bowls. Thanks! Starts Tomorrow! Astro
  4. You are correct, sir. ProFootballFocus analyzes every defensive play and rates each player. Sheppard is continually improving, even in number of tackles. He exceeded his personal best in tackles 6 times out of 10 games, got a positive grade from PFF in run defense in 8 of 10 games, and in pass defense 5 out of 10 games. He had 11 tackles in his last game. I'm keeping this rookie.
  5. My link Yow! Oops! Sorry, it's your cousin.
  6. We are betting the "Skins 'n' Fins" theory too. DraftTek Round 1 Colts take Luck at #1 Skins take Barkley at #5 Fins take RG3 at #9 (probably not Landry Jones) We are the beneficiaries of this run on rookie QB's, though, because that leaves us a nice choice at ~#11 of Upshaw OLB, Mercilus OLB, Billy Winn DE, and possibly Mike Adams OT.
  7. +1. Return the 10 starters from Game 1 and we'll be fine. Don't move up in the draft; we'll have a choice of the #1 or #2 OLB34 in the draft, as well as the #2 or #3 QB. There will be QB's in this draft in RD3 that will become starters; I believe that. But only a couple of OLB's past RD2 will.
  8. Listen 95%, Talk 5%. The Bills are also going to need a FA signing or a draftee to create some "buzz", not unlike the TO signing or the Dareus drafting. It's called Hope.
  9. While I don't like the idea of just fixing one position in one draft, here you go, drafting 5 LB's: 1-Whitney Mercilus OLB34 Illinois - Better stats, motor, and motivation than Upshaw 2-Devon Still DE34 Penn State -would have been Manti T'eo, but said he's going back to school yesterday 3-Lavonte David OLB43 Nebraska - He could play 3-4 as well as kill it in a 4-3 4-Devin Taylor OLB34 South Carolina - Can also play DE 4-Kellen Moore QB Boise State - Accurate and savvy, a student of the game 5-Jarius Wright WR Arkansas - Speedy receiver to stretch the field 6-Jonathan Massaquoi OLB34 Troy 7-D'Angelo McCray DT34 Memphis
  10. Good Draft! My two disclaimers are that I love any mock made with DraftTek's simulator (it's easy, isn't it?), and the fact hat my son lives in Boise and sees all of Kellen Moore's games. What's good about your draft is that it picks value players right to the end. I'd get seasons with a draft like that! You're thinking of Cameron Heyward.
  11. ^^^ This. Ten starters will come from IR or the draft. Or more.
  12. Depending on the Seahawks-StLouis game Monday night, the Bills will be #11 or #12 in the draft this year.
  13. Fitz today became only 2nd Bills QB with consecutive 3000-yd seasons.
  14. Clemson (Hairston, Spiller)----Have Dwayne Allen TE, Andre Branch DE, Mason Cloy OC, Chad Diehl FB,'12 Draft James Madison (Caussin, Moats)-No Prospects in '12 Draft North Carolina (Searcy, White)--Have Charles Brown CB, Zach Brown OLB43 Another tidbit: In the last 2 years, Bills have drafted all players from schools south of West Virginia except for Danny Batten.
  15. I agree that Adams is a strong offensive line talent. If our pass rush were better, or if we were better defending the run, he'd be one of my Top 3 picks looking for BPA.
  16. You are describing 2 players: Alameda Ta'Amu and Billy Winn. I'm a big fan of Ta'Amu. Ta'amu (6'-3", 337 lbs) is a DE34 or a DT43. I imagine his combine numbers vault him into the top 15 because of his quickness for his size. He's currently projected to run in the low 5s in the 40. Boise DE Billy Winn, who at 295 could also be the butt you need. His tools are leverage, powerful bull rush, and size (6'3, 295) and strength to play both the 3 and 5 tech. I like Carrington, but Billy Winn would out-bull him to Brady.
  17. Maybin out! Love it! Our Giants analyst wasn't happy with the Giants pick of Burfict at #16. He says, "The only problem with this pick is that Burfict comes with major character concerns, which the Giants typically avoid. The cons really outweigh the pros here. He's been one of the most penalized players in the NCAA and failure to control him is one reason Erickson is out of a job at ASU."
  18. Round Pick Team Selection Psn School CRI Delta ReachValue 1 1 Indianapolis Andrew Luck QB Stanford P2 +0 Value 1 2 Minnesota Matt Kalil OT USC P2 +0 Value 1 3 St Louis Morris Claiborne CB LSU P1 -3 Reach 1 4 Jacksonville Justin Blackmon WRF Oklahoma State P2 +1 Value 1 5 Washington Matt Barkley QB USC P1 +1 Value 1 6 Philadelphia Zach Brown OLB43 North Carolina P2 -4 Reach 1 7 Carolina Alshon Jeffery WRF South Carolina P2 -1 Reach 1 8 Cleveland Trent Richardson RBF Alabama P1 +3 Value 1 9 Buffalo ? I used DraftTek's Simulator, moved us up to 9th, where I think we'll finish, and moved Miami down to our 13th spot in each round. Based on current positional needs, the simulator ran this draft for me. Your votes will help me adjust the Bills' positional needs on DraftTek. Who would you draft first? Why? Astro
  19. If he makes it out of the Top 4, I'd be surprised. This is a WR-deep draft. Get your pass rusher, OT, or NT early. Right now, I'd go: 1-Courtney Upshaw OLB34 Alabama 2-Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State (although Dontari Poe NT and Brandon Weeden QB tempt me) 3-Brandon Boykin CB Georgia 4-Baker Steinkuhler DE34 Nebraska (although Kellen Moore QB was sitting right there; as was Brandon Lindsey OLB34 Pittsburgh 4-Isaiah Pead RBF Cincinnati (one of the best at picking up the blitz) 5-Chris Owusu WRF Stanford 6-Josh Oglesby OT Wisconsin 7-D'Angelo McCray DT34 Memphis
  20. I used DraftTek's simulator to make a draft of players from LSU-Alabama-OkSt-Stanford-Oregon, because they know how to win. 1 8 Buffalo Courtney Upshaw OLB34 Alabama 2 40 Buffalo Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State 3 72 Cliff Harris CB Oregon 4 103 Barrett Jones OG Alabama 4 112 William Vlachos OC Alabama 5 135 Kenjon Barner RBC Oregon 6 167 Deangelo Peterson TE LSU 7 199 Darron Thomas QB Oregon I switched the draft order to draft around 8th (taking Miami's place). I had to take 2 QB's. There were no Top 5 teams in the 7th round except for Thomas. If I didn't take Weeden, I could substitute another OLB, Nico Johnson at #40, but I consider him a better 4-3 guy. Another #40 pick could be Coby Fleener, the tough, pass catching TE. Astro

  22. Although he might have gone in the "Flaming Thumbtacks--Worst Helmet in Sports?" direction...
  23. http://www.drafttek.com/2012-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-QBs.asp How early do you want a QB? If he's there in RD3, take him, but How early do you want a QB? I'm thinking 2013 or Free Agency.
  24. Jarius Byrd is #1 among 150 safeties this week at ProFootballFocus.com; Searcy is #11 and Wilson is #14. In pass coverage only, Byrd is #2 to Adrian Wilson of ARZ; Searcy is #35. Wilson #116. In run coverage only, George Wilson is #1, Searcy is #10 (Whitner=#4, Polamalu=#7), and Byrd is #26.
