  1. It was a scenario. We have Coples as scheme-specific, so 4-3 DE, #8 on our Big Board and not on our DE34 Listat all. Astro
  2. Looks like they have one. Richie Incognito Mike Pouncey Vernon Carey Jake Long Marc Colombo
  3. Watched them all. We should feel vindicated (but sad as well) that many of the TBD favorites in the draft are playing in January.
  4. http://www.drafttek.com/CMDRound1.asp You won't have to scroll down much.
  5. I can see it's almost time for a DraftTek Mock Draft Game. I think I'll wait until next week when there are 100 Days to go until the draft!
  6. While I think you could have posted this in the same thread as everybody else, I see your point. But consider this scenario: 1 1 Indianapolis Andrew Luck QB Stanford 1 2 St Louis Matt Kalil OT USC 1 3 Minnesota Justin Blackmon WRF Oklahoma State 1 4 Cleveland Trent Richardson RBF Alabama 1 5 Tampa Bay Courtney Upshaw ILB Alabama 1 6 Washington Morris Claiborne CB LSU 1 7 Jacksonville Michael Floyd WRF Notre Dame 1 8 Miami Robert Griffin QB Baylor 1 9 Carolina Devon Still DT43 1 10 Buffalo ??? BPA (in this order as per DraftTek, McShay): Riley Reiff OT, Quintin Coples DE43, Mike Adams OT, Dre Kirkpatrick CB, Zach Brown OLB43 and Whitney Mercilus DE43. You're not switching to the 4-3.
  7. I agree with you. "big, speedy, physical" is Bowe for sure. I don't think Nix was putting up a smokescreen. He wants someone to make it difficult for opposing OC's, a "pick your poison" kind of player. Jackson-Stevie-Bowe would create havoc IMHO.
  8. Inge is articulate, a great teacher (specialty=getting front 7 to play faster), big on defensive chemistry and morale. In 2008, he was LB coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
  9. I think discussion Ralph Channix etc. is going to consider a 4-3 and screw up most mocks. If we go to a 4-3 with Williams/Dareus in the middle, watch for rush-happy OLB's in RD1. I'm ecstatic re Upshaw and would take the BCS#1 sackman Mercilus. Riley Reiff is the draft's 6th-rated player at this point. If he falls to the Bills, they have to look at him, and make a play in FA for a Mario Williams DE plus reach for OLB in RD2 (Vinny Curry? I don't like Bruce Irvin here). It's not the road I would take.
  10. I tried to make your Cream Dream Draft happen, trading our RD3 this year and RD2 next year with Cleveland at #25, but Hightower got picked #18 by San Diego.
  11. DraftTek has him listed on the Big Board at #14 as a OLB34, and at #114 as a Strong Inside Linebacker (SILB).
  12. I'd love to see Lavonte David in RD3! Mercilus is a redshirt junior DE, but a new coach is coming in. I bet he leaves. If he comes out, he'll make his move up into mid-RD1 or higher, especially with the dearth of possible OLB34's. 3-4 vs. 4-3? This conversation in Chicago could be huge for Buffalo and its draft.
  13. As I said when DraftTek's computer picked Tannehill in RD#2 (that's two) for Buffalo, "The Bills are not going to reach at QB after investing so heavily in Fitz, but if Tannehill falls to them in RD2, Ralph himself might sprint to the podium. The Bills need to look early for their franchise quarterback, and I like Tannehill. He showed his mettle in A&M's bowl win vs. Northwestern with a 67% completion rate and a 139 passer rating (not unusual numbers over his career), but it is Tannehill's leadership, quick decision-making, and accuracy that make him a savvy pick for development. I was especially impressed with Tannehill's resilience vs. RG3 and the Baylor Bears this season and his pinpoint passing and elusiveness in his past two seasons. Watch Tannehill's 2010 game vs. LSU and see if you detect an upgrade to the parade of poor passers (and playoff-free results) we've undergone since Jimbo left. While it means neglecting the pass rush yet again in RD2, the Bills absolutely need to groom a QB with better accuracy. Tannehill is a wise choice here." I'll take a QB in RD#2 that has a 135.1 QB rating over the last 2 years.

  15. No. Here's a wonderful summary of Vinny Curry. http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2011/8/18/2368414/vinny-curry-2012-nfl-draft-prospect-notes
  16. I think picks 1-4 end up being Luck, Kalil, Trent Richardson, Blackmon in some order similar to that. RG3, Floyd, Claiborne, Kirkpatrick, Reiff, Coples are the next 6. One might have a bad combine or bad senior bowl, but RG3 and Claiborne won't be there at #10. So one of those six won't be picked, so your BPA choice at #10 could be: Reiff OT - guy replaced Bulaga and Hawkeye line kept ticking Adams OT - seen as an even pick 'em with Reiff right now Martin OT - see a pattern here? Kirkpatrick CB Upshaw OLB Mercilus OLB WR who is #5 on the list We have Alshon Jeffery at #5 right now among WR's, with 3 close at his heels. There are 7 teams that have WR as a P1 or P2 need, but four of those teams are before our pick: St. Louis, Minnesota, Jacksonville, and Carolina. Look at the #5-7 WR's (and rising WR's) and you'll know who the WR will be that we could pick. Remember that Ralph said we needed to get Fitz some players to throw to.
  17. maddenboy, I like your sig line. Here's how I would do what you asked for. RD1: My rush backer is going to be Whitney Mercilus. Upshaw is the disruptive guy, but I'll take the #1 sacks and TFL guy. RD2: I'm cheating a bit and taking Billy Winn if he's there. He's a DE but he can play with his hand up. More pressure than Bruce Irvin, who was effectively neutralized by a sub in the WVU=Clemson game. RD3: Vinny Curry of Marshall. I was weighing Curry against Andre Branch. Branch is the Von Miller type without the speed. Branch (while he's a decent blitzer) doesn't have the sideline to sideline ability that's been lacking for the Bills. Curry sets the edge better, makes sacks (23 in last 2 years), has great size, and IMHO a higher upside. Going all defense would be foolhardy. RD4=Trevor Guyton DE34 Cal RD4=Cobi Hamilton WRF Arkansas RD5=Kellen Moore QB Boise RD6=Justin Pugh OT Syracuse RD7=Tony Bergstrom OT Utah
  18. http://www.drafttek.com/2012-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-WRs.asp This is our ranking of WR's right now. I think Hill will drop, Criner will drop a little further. Jones, Jenkins, and maybe Fuller could pass them. Jeffery is likely to end up 6th to 8th after Senior Bowl and combine. Seven teams have WR listed as a P1 or P2 need, so Jeffery is right on the cusp at our RD2 pick.
  19. The draft is deep in WR's again, just like it was the year we signed Johnson, and just like last year. 7.5m is adequate. My favorite WR in each round as of now: RD1-Blackmon RD2-Alshon Jeffery RD3-Jeff Fuller (3B:AJ Jenkins) RD4-Ryan Broyles (4B: Cobi Hamilton) RD5-Jarius Wright RD6-Marvin Jones RD7-DeVier Posey And don't forget Bowe-Meachem in FA.
  20. You know, I've been watching the bowl games again over the last couple days, and I have to agree with you about Sanu. There were plays that Sanu didn't get the catch but was the obvious decoy. Unlike some WR's, Sanu LOOKED LIKE he was the primary target, and attracted attention as a result--opening up holes in front or behind him. Love Billy Winn. He'd be our DE most likely, and we have him going to Cheatriots at #63 right now. I like Irvin but maybe he'll be a cover two or safety before he's done, who knows what Buffalo Wings will do to his figure. I like Melvin Ingram better in RD#2, but fear that one of the playoff teams will snare him at the end of RD1. Sanders has come up often when I run simulations. Just say no:
  21. http://www.drafttek.com/Power_Rankings_NFL.asp#.TwYWDDWXTPY The Bills and Bucs had a downslope year. The #3 49'ers were once ranked at #25. The Bengals finished at #10; they were ranked last at one point. Astro
  22. I thought Cousins handled things pretty well in their bowl game. My favorite bowl QB for the Gailey system has been either Tannehill or RG3.
  23. In this scenario, San Diego trades VJ to Buffalo and they switch spots in RD1 and RD2 of the draft. San Diego moves up to #11; Buffalo down to #15. The result: 1 15 Buffalo Whitney Mercilus OLB34 Illinois (our P1) 2 48 Buffalo Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State (one of our P2's) 3 74 Buffalo Nick Toon WRF Wisconsin (one of our P2's) 4 106 Buffalo Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State (one of our P2's) 4 122 Buffalo Leonard Johnson CB Iowa State (one of our P2's) 5 136 Buffalo Matt Conrath DE34 Virginia P3 6 170 Buffalo Philip Lutzenkirchen TE Auburn P3 7 202 Buffalo Adrian Robinson OLB34 Temple P1
  24. Don't throw LT out the window in RD1. Watch for DraftTek's new mock coming out shortly. Wouldn't you take Mario Williams in FA and Mike Adams, JonMart, or Riley Reiff (Bulaga's successor) at LT?
