  1. The Latest Buffalo Bills News | SportSpyder A quick blog post about the Tasker cryptic tweet: wgr550.com ... Metzelaars is the new TE coach for the Bills, but he and Steve Tasker were "roomies". ... On that link, 7th paragraph down in Steve's blog says that he and Pete were roommates. http://sportspyder.com/teams/buffalo-bills/news I think this also means that a taller receiver TE will be drafted between RD4-6: Metzelaars: Height: 6-7 Weight: 254 RD4: Michael Egnew is 6'5", 242 Ladarius Green is 6'6", 230 RD5: Rhett Ellison is 6'5", 248 RD5-6: Kevin Koger is 6'4", 256
  2. Very, Very Possible. DraftTek's Next Analyst's Draft, computer used each Analyst's Positional Needs (ours are now set to 4-3): 1 10 Buffalo Courtney Upshaw OLB43 Alabama 2 42 Buffalo Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M 3 74 Buffalo Chandler Jones DE43 Syracuse (local guy means more Thruway fans) 4 105 Buffalo Leonard Johnson CB Iowa State (one of my favorite CB's in this draft BTW) 4 124 Buffalo Jordan White WRF Western Michigan (see below) 5 137 Buffalo Matt McCants OT UAB 6 169 Buffalo DaJohn Harris DT43 USC 7 200 Buffalo George Bryan TE North Carolina State Jordan White:
  3. Boy, are you right! Jeffery just schooled Dennard (2 TD's I think), not because Dennard is a crappy CB, but because he's a top drawer receiver!
  4. I would have Coples and Jeffery in My Five if I were more of a risk-taker. Not sure that describes Nix or Ralph! As you might have checked, DraftTek has Jeffery a lot lower than most, not ranking him as a Featured Receiver, and third on the Possession Receivers board. I differ with them, and Jeffery would IMHO make Stevie (and Nelson) better.
  5. I'd like to give a shout out to John From Hemet, who said in February of 2011: Link
  6. Excellent! Is...Is that you, Smithers????? Who controls the British Crown? Who Keeps The Metric System Down? We Do, We Do... Who keeps Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps? We Do, We Do... Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Gutenberg, a star! We Do, We Do... Who robs kegfish of their sight? Who rigs every Oscar night? We Do... We Doooo!
  7. I think the Bills will bring in pass rush via FA so they can draft BPA at #10. Right now I would bet the Mock for 1-9, and the resulting short list of BPA's would be (all others being previously taken): Round Pick Team Selection Psn School CRI Delta ReachValue 1 1 Indianapolis Andrew Luck QB Stanford P1 +0 Value 1 2 St Louis Matt Kalil OT USC P2 +0 Value 1 3 Minnesota Justin Blackmon WRF Oklahoma State P2 +0 Value 1 4 Cleveland Robert Griffin QB Baylor P2 -4 Reach 1 5 Tampa Bay Morris Claiborne CB LSU P2 +0 Value 1 6 Washington Michael Floyd WRF Notre Dame P3 -3 Reach 1 7 Jacksonville Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama P2 -5 Reach 1 8 Miami Courtney Upshaw OLB34 Alabama P2 -5 Reach 1 9 Carolina Devon Still DT43 Penn State P2 +2 Value Leaving us with a choice of: Quinton Coples DE43 North Carolina Zach Brown OLB43 North Carolina Riley Reiff OT Iowa Jonathan Martin OT Stanford Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College * Whitn.Mercilus DE43 Illinois Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama David DeCastro OG Stanford * Melvin Ingram DE43 South Carolina Nick Perry OLB34 USC * Mike Adams OT Ohio State Donta Hightower ILB Alabama * Mohamed Sanu WRF Rutgers That's the order DraftTek has them on their BigBoard, before the Underwear Olympics. Think of this as the BPA Board according to our guys who do this for a living and many of whom were at Senior Bowl week. IMHO, I'd take Kuechly (which I learned is pronounced CAKE-lee) and Hightower off since Gailey said yesterday Shepp's his MLB. I'm taking DeCastro off, because we'll fill that position internally. I'm taking Perry off (sorry people) because he drops to 30th on our BigBoard if played as a DE43. I'm looking at two CB's, three OT's, three DE43's, one OLB43, and one WR available at #10 pre-combine. Channix will look at which CB, which OT, and which DE they like best, and it's down to 5-6 players. My five right now, for a solid, low risk, immediate-high-return pick, are Reiff OT, Brown OLB43, Martin OT, Ingram DE43, and Adams OT. To effectively be able to draft BPA, the Bills will be bringing in a pass rusher in FA like John Abraham (32.7 PRR*), Calais Campbell (23.5 PRR), Robert Mathis (22 PRR), and not Michael Bennett (12.5 PRR), or Mario Williams (9.2 PRR). *PRR is Pass Rush Rating from ProFootballFocus Premium. It's the sum of each player's game by game pass rush rating scores from 2011. Let's say you did bring in a guy like Mathis, so you can draft BPA at #10. Who's in your FIVE? My five right now, for a solid, low risk, immediate-high-return pick, are Reiff OT, Brown OLB43, Martin OT, Ingram DE43, and Adams OT.
  8. Yes, pretty sure, and he'd be a pass rusher for us in the 4-3. buffalobills.com message board thinks our weakest position is DE43, and I disagree. I think it's still OLB43. Barnett is solid, but we need another sideline to sideline, TE-covering, slobberknocker! I'm thinking Zach Brown, Lavonte David, Ronnell Lewis. And maybe 2 of the above. Anyone else?
  9. I just did a full change to the Bills Positional Needs at DraftTek due to the 4-3 alignment. Won't be in Wednesday's mock, but will be in thereafter. I did a simulation using the new Positional Needs. 1-Zach Brown OLB43 North Carolina 2-Juron Criner WRF Arizona 3-Andre Branch DE43 Clemson 4-Michael Egnew TE Missouri 4-Josh Robinson CB Central Florida The RD1 short list is now: Quinton Coples DE43, Zach Brown OLB43, Melvin Ingram DE43. The long list adds Riley Reiff OT, Jonathan Martin OT, and Alfonzo Dennard CB. I think Kirkpatrick and Still are gone by our pick.
  10. George Edwards returns to the #Dolphins as LB coach after a 2 year stint as #Bills DC
  11. Agree, syrcuse. I mentioned last night that the supply of good 4-3 players in this draft is better in quantity and quality. Supply is higher and demand is actually lower for OLB43 and DE43 compared to OLB34 and DE34.
  12. Not my area of expertise, but Poz-Whitner is likely a wash with Barnett-Smith. Our friends at Mocking the Draft said "Neither Kirk Morrison, Tommy Thigpen, or Brad Smith contributed much for Buffalo. But signing two of them cost the Bills a 3rd rounder for losing Posluszny." I think the Lynch signing was in 2010. Evans might count. -Astro
  13. Nick Perry - RD1#20 to Tennessee Melvin Ingram RD1#16 to the Jets Andre Branch - available at RD2 to the Bills. Ronnell Lewis could also be available at RD2 (watch Tampa Bay at #36). , Lavonte David, and would.I know they like for his sideline to sideline ability and his ability to anticipate...
  14. Twenty two teams have better WR's than we do. We need a 1A and 1B. Lloyd is a good choice, but, like Stevie, he's not a blocker. Meachem and Colston would be the best choice for a downfield blocker IMHO. Colston has the best %-caught numbers in FA.
  15. Fitz wanted to be in the elite company of a 69-year-old grandmother and an 11-year old boy. http://www.supersizedmeals.com/food/article.php/20051117045229565 Nearly 17% of all people attempting it succeeded: "- Nearly 6,200 people have succeeded in eating the 72oz. steak (since 1960). - Almost 37,000 people have attempted to consume the free 72oz. steak (since 1960)." "- The oldest person to eat the steak was a 69-year-old grandmother; the youngest, an 11-year old boy."
  16. We won't be doomed if we have 2 great CB's. 1 Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska 2 Ronnell Lewis OLB43 Oklahoma 3 Kendall Reyes DE34 Connecticut 4 Michael Egnew TE Missouri 4 George Iloka FS Boise State 5 Nicolas Jean-Baptiste DT34 Baylor 6 DeVier Posey WRF Ohio State 6 Russell Wilson QB Wisconsin 7 Greg Childs WRF Arkansas
  17. I bet the Bills sign a pass rusher, run-stopping OLB, and/or WR in Free Agency, freeing us up to take BPA in the draft in each of the first 3 rounds. My bet for a run-stopping OLB is Erin Henderson. Mario Williams only played 5 games last year. Henderson excelled in run-stopping in 15 of his 16 games played, exceeding other free agents at DE or OLB, according to PFF Premium. John Abraham is a good bet for a 3-year signing as pass rush DE. He's 33, but 5 of his last 7 games last year were monster games, and 4 of his last 5 years earned him 9+ sacks. You would still be looking for BPA pass rusher in RD1-3 of the draft, though. Would like to see Mario Williams or Robert Mathis but neither had as good a year as Calais Campbell. Cards can't afford to let him get away as they don't have an RD2 pick this year and need O-Line help galore. Best Value at WR: Welker. Welker is ranked as the #3 WR in the NFL and had 9 positive games out of 16, Colston is the #5 WR and had 6 positive games out of 16, Bowe had 5 positive games out of 16, Meachem is #4 as a downfield-blocking WR and had 4 positive games out of 16.
  18. Somebody will fall. In this scenario Banks has Tannehill and KirkPOTrick picked early. That just means the Bills' pick gets a lot richer in the pass rush choices. If Upshaw, Still, Ingram, and Mercilus are all on the board when we pick, I'll do a jig and eat a Pats hat.
  19. Agree. Without a 2nd rounder this year (Kolb trade), the Cards need 1-2 Big uglies for their O-line, and can't be adding a need on Defense.
  20. I think it's a 70% possibility the Bills will be playing against Manning twice next year, with MIA the most likely and NYJ the second most likely. He won't go to a team with O-Line needs, and will go to a place that's warm or indoors.
