  1. I'm not talking you out of Gilmore. I was one of the first to give him props when DraftTek's computer dialed him up for the Bills' then 42nd pick. I said then, The savvy, hard-hitting Gilmore is an excellent pick, one that might just trump Aaron Williams’ RD2 selection last year. Compared with Williams, Gilmore has more height (he’s 6’2” to Williams’ generous 6’0”), better speed (4.40 to 4.56), better blitz skills, and similar change of direction (3.94 shuttle to 4.07, and 6.61 to 6.72 in the 3-cone). This speedy duo of aggressive cornerbacks would rival most NFL teams, and under McGee’s tutelage, Williams-Gilmore could rival the Bills’ all-time CB tandems. As a returner, Gilmore would also be taught by McGee, with his NFL’s third-highest-yards-per-return. Say goodbye to Leodis, Corner (a FA anyway), and possibly even DrayFlo if this is the pick here.
  2. Not the Raiders, but we have it that the 49ers, Ravens and Titans, in addition to the Browns, are interested in Hill.
  3. Just to bust your chops, you are lying in a hospital bed. To "Lay" requires a direct object. Like a nurse. In your dreams.
  4. Tipster, hope you're back on your feet and walking around soon(a LOT of walking helps everything--unless you get hit by a truck). The thought of multiple prognostications doesn't bother me, but the thought of anyone doing nothing, especially in this economy, is just WRONG! Let this event be a clarion call. Be Well Soon!
  5. Lots of QB's have passed Moore up, but I like the guy. We have videos up on almost all of them. http://www.drafttek.com/2012-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-QBs.asp Moore is #295 on the Big Board, and that's usually RD7. Third round would be Foles, Osweiler, Lindley. Cousins is late 2nd.
  6. How 'bout this? Assume you resign Bell. Let's go BPA at CB, WR, OLB, then take TE and QB in RD4: 1 10 Buffalo Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina 2 41 Buffalo Mohamed Sanu WRF Rutgers 3 72 Buffalo Audie Cole OLB43 North Carolina State 4 106 Buffalo Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State 4 125 Buffalo Brian Linthicum TE Michigan State 5 138 Buffalo Joe Adams WRS Arkansas 5 141 Buffalo Tank Carder OLB43 TCU 6 170 Buffalo Andrew Datko ROT Florida State 7 204 Buffalo Tyrone Crawford DE43 Boise State 7 251 Buffalo Jeff Adams LOT Columbia
  7. We have Trumaine #94 on the Big Board, and gone in RD3. Pretty good draft. Nobody is going to like the first pick in the Bills DraftTek mock, but we'll have a new one up Friday with all the comp picks. http://www.drafttek.com/CMDRound1.asp
  8. The other WR I'd like us to look at in RD6-7 is Lavasier Tuinei. Oregon inclement weather player, 6’5” 216, and sets up defenders really well, catches away from body, light for a TE, add weight and he’s an H-back… goes immediately to the ground for 2TDs, …great body control… last minute snatch to catch long pass so CB didn’t know. His liability is his thin lower body--he needs chicken wings really bad. http://bit.ly/Ae2vei
  9. Amen to Gilmore. His numbers beat Aaron Williams's virtually across the board. This would be a huge addition to the defense. Good CB's make DE's better and vice-versa. He also is a KR. Keller, Marshall, Fasano, Gronkowski & Hernandez means that the Bills need a tough extra CB, even in nickel to press and cover over the top of TE's and big WR's. "Intangibles: Quiet, hard-working player who consistently gets praises from coaches and teammates about his work ethic and attitude. Puts in time in the film room, knows his opponents and defensive scheme inside and out. No worries about on-field effort, brings tenacious attitude on every play." - CBS
  10. If you loved Hardy, how about this RD7#199/UDFA prospect? Damarlo Belcher WR Indiana WR 6-5 213 12 TD Returned in 2011 to break James Hardy’s records Would have done it. But: Oct 31 2011: Demarlo Belcher was dismissed from the IU Football team, ending his career at IU=suspension for the Northwestern game for failing drug test. He had 189 catches. James Hardy holds the school record with 191. Injuries and a one-game suspension, however, had only allowed Belcher to play in six of the first nine games. He had 25 catches for 286 yards and a touchdown when he was kicked off the team. As a junior, Belcher had 78 catches for 832 yards and four touchdowns. Belcher said he told the scouts that he was hanging around with the wrong crowd. “I basically told them, ‘Man, I just gotta watch who I hang around with and watch my peers because it’s easy to do bad things when those guys aren’t doing the same things as you.’ I just told them my word is my bond and I won’t let the same things happen again at the next level.” Progressing each year, and seemed poised to have a big senior year. With his size and speed, if he put up good numbers this year, it wasn’t crazy to think that he would be a late round pick! Belcher: http://bit.ly/wfFcci
  11. We have Branch on #17 on our Big Board. Of course, it is only a reach if we draft him at 10...but at Cincy's 2 picks, not a reach!
  12. He's visited the Pro Day of Mike Adams and is having Jonathan Martin in. Here's a good summary of the Tackles, written by LongBall, who does the O-Line analysis at D-Tek. http://www.drafttek....ckle-Review.asp'>http://www.drafttek....ckle-Review.asp The 2nd installment covering ROT prospects is now also posted for your reading pleasure! http://www.drafttek....ckle-Review.asp
  13. Wow. Just wow. That's an Eye opener! The debate about which tackles willbe there at 10 is going on around the net. I like Mike Adams over Martin, because Martin struggles more with pass blocking. The knock on Mike Adams was his low 19 bench reps. At his Pro Day, and Nix was there, Adams did 21, and Adams was satisfied, saying he usually does 21-23. The difference is that Adams has long arms and it takes more strength to move 225 lbs over a longer distance. Adams looked great in the Nebraska game, less good in the Purdue. Watch #75 in the YouTube video on Mike Brewster and you'll see why Nix went to Adams Pro Day. That's why we will take Floyd over the #3 or 4 Tackle.
  14. We can put Woody Woodpecker on our Levitre line!
  15. Wow, great question! I'll try one from each round, 3-UDFA: RD3-Robert Turbin RB Utah State (Greg Childs WR was taken) RD4-Trevor Guyton DE43 California RD5A-Terrell Manning OLB NCState RD5B-Cody Pearcy WR Huntingdon-- 3.76 seconds in short shuttle -fastest in recent NFL history RD6-Jeremy Ebert WR Northwestern--4.38-4.44 forty, 6.70 in the 3-cone drill (3rd among WR) RD7-LaVon Brazill WR Ohio UDFA-Dale Moss WR South Dakota St.-4.38-4.45 forty, 41" vert, fastest 3-cone drill, 1 yr.exper.
  16. No harm no foul, LM. I got kudos for pointing it out to the Boss at DraftTek! We can't believe you were the first (out of 100,000 visits per day) to spot the inconsistency!
  17. There is a lot of mock draft sites where one guru purports to know about all 32 teams (draft tendencies, current needs) and all 400 players every year. They are welcome to their opinion. Everybody's got one. DraftTek decided to go in a different direction, with 32 team analysts submitting their team's needs weekly (and over the last 2 weeks, after every major FA signing). Several experts prepare a Big Board; these guys actually go to games, watch film, and attend the combine, and slot player ability. A computer does the drafting, and analysts comment on the picks. Viewership was steadily increasing over the last 4 years, but has spiked significantly this year. For years, I have been exclusively a Two Bills Drive poster, hoping it reflects the Bills fan community perspective on team needs. I think I've done a good job recording those needs. I can't respond if you don't like who the computer picked based on where you see that player vs. where the DraftTek experts see that player vs. where Mel or Mort sees that player. Draft Talk is for fun and discussion, folks. As Ben and Jerry say, "If it's not fun, why do it?" --Astro Astro You are correct. We are now 71st... http://www.drafttek.com/CMDRound3.asp then RD4#104 and 123, then RD5#135 and 138, then RD6#166, and our RD7 remains at 199.
  18. I've heard the argument that Cincy would be trading away, say, Dennard and Barron, for Trent Richardson. I look at it as taking Adrian Peterson. CIN still has pick #53 to take a safety (Harrison Smith, Markelle Martin), and Josh Norman CB in RD3.
  19. My thinking about each team's desire and need to trade up, down, or no trade: 1 Indianapolis-(top needs= QB, WR, then DT)=Andrew Luck QB-------1st Need Met, No Trade 2 Washington---(top needs=QB, CB, OT)=Robert Griffin QB----1st Need Met, No Trade 3 Minnesota----(top needs=WR, OT, SS, CB)=Matt Kalil OT--- 2nd Need Met, 50% poss. Trade-Down We know Indy's taking a QB, as will Washington. Minnesota can get a WR in RD2 and have their top 2 needs met, or trade down with teams wanting OT early (St. Louis, Buffalo, Arizona). IMHO trade partner being Arizona is most likely, St. Louis 2nd, Buffalo a distant 3rd. Teams wanting Blackmon would also be in play (Buffalo, Carolina, Cincy, Miami, St. Louis, Houston, Oakland); they'd have to vault Cleveland, who is likely to take Blackmon. Cincy also could trade their 2 RD1 picks and their RD3 for Trent Richardson. I consider Cincy (needs CB, then RB, WR, OG, FS) the most likely team to move up in RD1. 4 Cleveland----(top needs=WR, OT, then RB)=Justin Blackmon WR-------1st Need Met,No Trade 5 Tampa Bay----(top needs=ILB,OLB,CB)=Luke Kuechly ILB-----1st Need Met,No Trade 6 St Louis-----(top needs=DT43,OLB43,WR,LT)=too Many Needs, 75% likely to trade down Cleveland and T-Bay are getting their top positional need and are unlikely to compromise. St. Louis has so many needs that they'll look for trades. If they stay put, Reiff, Floyd, Cox or Zach Brown are fits, but they'd still get a fit if they drop a bit. Trades would come from teams in the teens needing to leapfrog Jacksonville for CB (most likely Cincy, Buffalo, then Dallas), for OLB (Arizona, Seattle, Philly, Buffalo), or for WR (Buffalo or Miami but Miami'll take QB). Trent Richardson RB is still out there, too, but every team listed so far has bigger holes than RB, and RB is the least-needed position in this draft, so RB's will be value picks into the top of RD7. Buffalo has the most need to jump JAX, so they might jump #6, likely a RD3 and RD4#124 pick. 7 Jaxville----(top needs=WR,CB,DE43)=Claiborne CB---------2nd Need Met--40% Trade Down, 20%up 8 Miami-------(top needs=QB,WR,OT,DE43)=Tannehill QB------1st Need Met, No Trade 9 Carolina----(top needs=WR,DT43)=Fletcher Cox DT43------1st Need Met, No Trade 10 Buffalo----(top needs=LT,OLB43,WR,CB,BPA) There are now only 5 options at #10 with a Reach of <6 slots at #10, using the DraftTek Big Board Rating Richardson RB------------5th best Reiff OT---------------8th best DeCastro OG--------------9th best Floyd WRF-------------13th best Gilmore CB--------------16th best Jacksonville could trade their pick for a team needing to vault Miami for OT, QB, DE43, or WR. (Buffalo is again one of those who might wish to leapfrog a division rival for Floyd, Tannehill, or Reiff. What about Arizona, jilted by Manning, screwing Miami by moving up for Tannehill as competition for Kolb? Houston at #26 isn't likely moving up for Floyd, but Cincy might make the move for CB, trading their #17 and #21 for Claiborne/Gilmore. This leaves the Bills in an enviable position, but Nix is going to at least CONSIDER going BPA here, causing the Bills to have a Deja Vu Moment as Trent Richardson's name is read. O-Line players Reiff-DeCastro will be high on Nix's board. Gilmore is likely to be there, as will Floyd. Side Note: Mercilus is not listed because he's 12th best as DE, but only 22nd best as a OLB43.
  20. He'd be available in RD5 or 6, but the Bills could take him with their #139 and be assured he'd be there. Not a bad price to pay for Wilson. I also wouldn't mind AJ Kinne or Patrick Witt.
  21. Right you are. Simulating the CIN trade using DraftTek Simulator, CIN takes Trent Richardson RB (I maintain they'd take Dre Kirkpatrick here, which our CIN analyst agrees with), and Markelle Martin FS in RD3, so they get their top 2 draft priorities. The Bills take (10 picks--I added a comp at the end of RD7): RD1-BUF-Jonathan Martin OT Stanford RD1-BUF-Stephen Hill WRF Georgia Tech RD2-BUF-Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina RD4-BUF-Terrell Manning LB North Carolina State RD4-BUF-Ladarius Green TE Louisiana-Lafayette RD5-BUF-Nate Potter OT Boise State RD5-BUF-Marquis Maze WRS Alabama RD6-BUF-Josh Chapman DT Alabama RD7-BUF-Russell Wilson QB Wisconsin RD7-BUF-Jordan White WRF Western Michigan This report was produced usingDraft Tek's Draft Simulator
  22. They can do better than White in this draft. Lennon Creer in RD 6-7. How about Antwon Bailey from Cuse?
  23. http://www.ninersnation.com/2012/2/16/2801903/2012-nfl-draft-a-syracuse-fan-breaks-down-syracuse-prospects I would guess the Free Safety Philip Thomas or the TE Nick Provo.
  24. I think Hanna could be a nice complement to Chandler at TE:
