  1. Kuechly is our man and BPA at #10. He had 158 tackles the year he played OLB, and averages 16 tackles per game in his career. He can cover TE's. You'll see him as our RD1 pick in the next DraftTek mock.
  2. Randle fell to RD4 last mock. We see Jeffery, Sanu, Broyles, Marvin Jones, Chris Givens, and A.J. Jenkins ahead of Randle. Just opinion.
  3. This is my 12-player "Grab Board" for the next DraftTek mock. I usually let the computer pick BPA but not this time. This is in order for each round, so the computer will check to see if Blackmon's available, then Richardson, then Kuechly, then Gilmore, etc. I have until 11:00EST to submit it to DraftTek. Have at it. You can move one player up one, and one player down one. 4. Me, too. I like Wilson, AJ Kinne, and Witt. Hope we bring in a QB or two. Osweiler visited too, but I don't think Wilson would be allowed to stand on his shoulders.
  5. The Bills are quickly ramping up the QB visits as now word could be coming out that former Wisconsin and NC State QB Russell Wilson is in town for a visit. This is all based on a tweet from the aforementioned Mr. Wilson saying he just landed in Buffalo. Now while we all love our dear city to death most wouldn’t think of it as an ideal vacation spot in the middle of the NFL Draft season. Wilson brings playmaking ability from the QB spot with both his arm and his legs. He’s a bit of an unconventional QB and has drawn comparisons to a certain former Bills QB who once wore the number seven and had a brand of cereal named after him. He has more than enough arm strength to make all the necessary throws and his ability to escape the pocket and make plays happen is up there with the tops in this class. What you have to worry about with Wilson is mainly his height. If he was two inches taller he’s a first or second round pick but as it is questions exist about how well he could perform in the league where every player is bigger, and faster. He has to be able to see and find the passing lanes in order to make it work at his size. RD4 perhaps?
  6. We're basing this on a few things. Only 3 teams--Baltimore, Philly, and Tampa Bay--are strongly considering a SILB or even a WILB this year, so lower demand. No team has listed OLB as a P1 need, and only 5 teams want 4-3 OLB's as one of their top 3 priorities: Buffalo (multiple), Oakland, Philly, St.Louis (multiple), and T-Bay (multiple). So lower demand there too--especially early picks. A good supply of ILB's will go in RD1-3 despite the lack of top priority need, just because of BPA. They include Luke Kuechly (SILB or WILB and possibly possibly OLB), Zach Brown (OLB or WILB), Bobby Wagner (also a very good OLB we believe), Dont'a Hightower (ILB only, we believe), Mychal Kendricks (SILB only), and Audie Cole (SILB and less effective OLB). For OLB43, those 5 teams will take Zach Brown, Bobby Wagner, Lavonte David, Sean Spence, and Demario Davis. Josh Kaddu and Travis Lewis could also go. Those players will close out RD3. The next tier of guys are going to fall precipitously, past our RD4#105 pick, because relaive value of other positions.
  7. I think we'll have already taken one LB by the time we take Carder. Nix said we'd take a couple. He's the 2nd. Maybe Bobby Wagner at RD2 and Carder at RD4A? Wouldn't complain.
  8. One more sleeper: Korey Toomer OLB who sat on the sidelines in 2010 and was not considered training camp worthy by NFL scouts prior to the season, performed brilliantly in front of eight teams. The 6-2 Toomer tipped the scales at 236 pounds, then ran 40 times as fast as 4.49 seconds. His three-cone clocked 6.86 seconds, and he completed 20 reps on the bench. Toomer's vertical jump was a story in itself, as the athletic defender reached over the 40-inch maximum of the measuring machine on hand. Scouts decided to credit him with a mark of 41 inches.
  9. We have Tank going on or about slot RD5#140, probably after Travis Lewis but well before Burfict. He'd be a better SILB than OLB.
  10. I like 4 that weren't mentioned, or weren't mentioned much. Ronnell Lewis is more of a OLB34 we think, but if Wannstedt thinks he’s good for OLB43, he’s a RD2 option. He can run and hit. Google Ronnell Lewis big hits. He’s why they won the Stanford game.’ Best bench score on Day1-2. Will be gone in RD2. Demario Davis: Arkansas State (6-3, 230) SLB. Likely RD3. He jumped out on tape this year and did the same all week in Mobile. tough natural quickness sees the action well “plus” first step. solid pass rush natural range/fluidity in coverage and if he can learn to quiet his feet a bit, he possesses the type of explosive element both the run and pass game some say is a lesser Derrick Brooks Nigel Bradham OLB Fla. State 6’2” 237 (4.67) 4.64 RD4B Led FSU with 98 tkl, 5 sacks from outside, great technique, sheds blocks, plays fast, aggressor, sticks in coverage, was going to be the sleeper pick if 40 time improved--It didn’t, so he’s early 4th RD Terrell Manning OLB NCState 6’3” 225 (4.63) RD5#137Bills-RD5#148 Cincinnati Coming off knee injury and is Big East, so he slips a bit. Size is issue for some teams, but not for us: speed, toughness, production, excellent back to back seasons, good coverage tools, run defense, and blitzing—the sideline to sideline LB type that Wanny is looking for. Fluid hips, sheds blocks well, reads and reacts, good angles to football.
  11. Perhaps Bell will return and complete a season without injury (for the 2nd time in 5 years). Perhaps this miracle will be aided by the lure of a fat contract down the road.
  12. I'm with you! RD1-Kalil LT RD2-Bobby Wagner OLB RD4-Kirk Cousins QB RD4-Jarius Wright WRS RD5-Chase Minnifield CB RD5-Trevor Guyton DE43 RD6-Kevin Koger TE RD7-Chris Owusu WRF RD7-Charles Mitchell S
  13. Can he block? Because you don't have a LT.
  14. If I had to rank these guys from "Highest Risk, Lowest Reward" to "Lowest Risk, Highest Reward" within the Bills current system, here'd be the breakdown: "Lowest Risk, Highest Reward" RD3-Bruce Irvin DE/OLB--At RD3, Irvin's speed, athleticism, and quickness, plus OLB position, put him here RD1-Michael Floyd WR----The year of "walking the walk" means a lot RD2-Janoris Jenkins CB--He's a top 15 player even on Kiper's board, but at RD2 he could be special RD7#217-Cliff Harris CB--hey, it's the 7th round--low risk. RD4#124-Chris Rainey RB/WR--speed kills. RD6#178-Jack Crawford DE--I like his accent. RD5#144 or 147-Vontaze Burfict LB--stupid penalties, clubhouse ethos risk outweigh his [poor] combine work "Highest Risk, Lowest Reward"
  15. While Oakland will be jealous, the over/under is Cincy grabbing 3 of these guys, and Ray Lewis grabbing Burfict.
  16. Michael Williams is coming out next year. He's #4 right now among TE's. I like that he has experience as DE and TE.
  17. Oh, and plus, he wasn't using a car!
  18. Some interesting values questions come up when you think about players with character issues. --What effects upon existing team chemistry could be caused by the player? --If I had a core of veterans that could discourage behaviors (or had Ray Lewis), does that entice me? --Is the risk ever worth it for a certain behavior over a different behavior? (e.g., pot over alcohol) --Does it matter how recent the behavior was? Is Floyd's "clean year" convincing enough to risk taking him?
  19. I'll start: Bryce Brown, RB, take at RD7#199 Tony Pauline was there to cover his Pro Day. Said Pauline: http://youtu.be/fbaHVnLgYS4
  20. When DraftTek's computer handed me Janoris Jenkins this week (in RD2), I began to wonder about players falling due to breaches of character, how fall we think they'll fall, and when does the reward outweigh the risk. So here is an Astro-Draft for your consideration: How many of these players would you pull the trigger on at that pick? We think most of these guys will be available at the Bills' pick in that round, but not by the next round: RD1-Michael Floyd WR -- arrested for DUI in 2010 charged with underage drinking the year before, nothing since RD2-Janoris Jenkins CB--4 children by 3 women, bar fight, 2 arrests for pot possession RD3-Bruce Irvin DE/OLB--high school arrest and destruction of property this March RD4#105-Josh Norman CB--on-field incidents and shouting matches with coaches RD4#124-Chris Rainey RB/WR--domestic dispute that resulted in a stalking charge RD5#144 or 147-Vontaze Burfict LB--general azzwhole RD6#178-Jack Crawford DE--police found drug paraphernalia in his apartment RD7#217-Cliff Harris CB--118 miles per hour, with suspended license, without insurance, cited for pot possession
  21. no Bills personnel at South Carolina pro day. Goodbye, Alshon...
  22. I makes me feel good to know that we have a choice between difference makers at 10. Some TBDers are just being depressing about our terrible position in the draft.
  23. Corey Glenn is a versatile player who can play LT in this league. Lavonte David or Bobby Wagner here would be good backup at OLB. Cousins is better than Osweiler. good pick. Marvin Jones is the traded pick and he will need some work, but should be a good backup to Easley, I think. I like Bentley at CB. Good value, but won't play this year. Take Carder here, and Datko later.
