1. My 2 candidates from the draft from RD1: Justin Hunter Tennessee 6'4" 205 ----18.5 ypc average, recov torn ACL, McShay's top WR, think "A.J. Green w/better fluidity, body control, & route savvy", ability to explode off line, read/react to CB leverage, adj's route well. Terrance Williams Baylor 6'1" 190---- 22.1 ypc average, I have him way higher than DraftTek; DraftScout's top WR. My 2 candidates from RD2: Tavon Austin West Virginia 5'9" 176 AVG 11.7, DS's #3 WR, small, one of the fastest players in draft, shifty, 200+ yards 3 TD vs MD, Geno Smith's his QB Cordarrelle Patterson(Jr.) Tennessee 6'3" 205 earned praise as the #1 JUCO recruit in the country, average 41.9 yards per kick return at Hutchinson C.C., catches with hands away from body, leads SEC with 1,292 all-purpose yards.
2. You must be talking about QB's NFL Rating against, showing that QB's against Williams have enjoyed a 136.9 rating. But a more telling stat is average yards per completion in that player's coverage. Stanford Routt is first in the NFL --for highest ypc. Aaron Williams is #19, Gilmore is #23. Just Say No.
3. http://www.drafthist...hp/positions/lb Have we really done our best scouting at LB? --No. Have we been picking in late rounds too often for today's game? --Yes. Were there LB's after our pick that did better than what/where we picked? --Very few. Did teams pick a guy we were interested in before it was our turn? --At least twice. Is it Nix's fault? --Maybe not. 2012 RD5 147 Tank Carder Bills Texas Christian RD4 105 Nigel Bradham Bills Florida State 2011 RD3 68 Kelvin Sheppard Bills Louisiana State RD6 169 Chris White Bills Mississippi State 2010 RD6 178 Arthur Moats Bills James Madison 2008 RD5 147 Alvin Bowen Bills Iowa State 2007 RD2 34 Paul Posluszny Bills Penn State 2006 RD6 178 Keith Ellison Bills Oregon State 2003 RD3 94 Angelo Crowell Bills Virginia RD7 228 Mario Haggan Bills Mississippi State
4. This ^^^^^^ And brown bags around halftime :bag: :bag:
5. BB, I got some heat for DraftTek picking a WR in RD1 when I had WR ranked at P2. So we're trying putting it at P3 so the computer looks at QB, then LB, then WR.
6. Thanks, new GMs! Final positional rankings will be: P1=QB (Multiple M6, meaning pick one early, one late); lockout Barkley P2=OLB43 (Multiple M3, meaning pick 2 in draft when OLB is BPA), WILB (Barnett's position--also Manti Te'O's) P3=CB, SILB (Bradham-Moats position), WRF (Multiple M6--Feature Wide Receiver) P4=TE, OC, LT, DE43, SS, and RBC (Change of Pace RB) P6=FS, DT43, OG, RBF (Featured RB), WRP (Possession Receiver) P9=DT34, DE34, OLB34, WRS (speedy small WR) The new mock will be out at Thanksgiving.
7. I will lockout Barkley. Our big board weights QB's higher because, as you say, QB's go early and more often due to the limits on salaries--there's no longer the risk. Barkley's a good risk for someone, but not us--he's not mobile, he needs lanes to pass through b/c he's short, and he's from USC lol.
8. I forgot DT43. I have it as a late/lower priority, P6, but some might think that Kyle and Dareus have no backup. But by your above list moving WR up to P2, you are telling the computer that you'd take the WR if the top 2 QB's are taken, so you make no sense ranking WR's as P2. Let's move WR to P3. I'd rather have Te'O or Wilson over Terrence Williams or Keenan Allen.
9. Yep. I put a M6 (multiple, but not consecutive) on QB for the next mock. This could be something like Wilson in RD1 or EJ Manuel in RD2, then McCarron in RD 5 or 6.
10. Searcy's the SS, so P4 for SS; Should FS be listed at P3 with Wilson-Byrd on the roster? I'll move DE up one and WR down one. We have 3 kinds of WR's you can draft for---WRF feature receiver (Stevie), WRP possession receiver (Josh Reed), and WRS small speedy receiver (Wes Welker). They are hoping Graham becomes a combo WRP-WRS.
11. New 3 LB, 2 QB Mock Draft: 1 9 Buffalo Manti Te'o ILB Notre Dame 2 40 Buffalo Kevin Minter ILB/OLB LSU 3 72 Buffalo Jonathan Brown OLB43 Illinois 4 104 Buffalo Collin Klein QB Kansas State 5 136 Buffalo Zeke Motta FS Notre Dame 6 168 Buffalo Mike Glennon QB NC State (TJ Graham's QB) 7 200 Buffalo Walter Stewart DE Cincinnati
12. I think talent at the QB position looks pretty good in later rounds, even RD6. Wouldn't surprise me if Nix takes two in this draft, one earlier (RD1-3), one later (RD6).
13. I'm moving ILB up to P2, meaning that the computer takes Manti Te'O if no QB is there at our pick. We can also lock OUT Barkley if you wish.
14. OK. I'm setting OLB as Multiple, meaning that we want at least 2 OLB's if they're BPA at that pick. I'm moving CB up to P3. Some good ones this year, not necessarily the ones you've heard of. Same with WR.
15. Oh, by the way, we are now the owners of the Buffalo Bills, so what we say, goes! I'm moving OLB and ILB up to P2, and have changed the top post accordingly.
16. Hi All, I am asking for your weigh-in on the team's Positional Needs for DraftTek. These are used for computer generated mock drafts, are used in the draft simulatorthat you can use to create mock drafts with different scenarios, and for discussion here at TBD. UPDATED POSITIONAL NEEDS (see all 32 teams' needs on the team needspage): P1=Quarterback (Multiple M6) P2=OLB43 (Multiple M3), WILB (Barnett's position) P3=CB, SILB (Bradham-Moats position), Wide Receiver (Multiple M6) P4=TE, OC, LT, DE43, SS, and Change of Pace RB (RBC), as FJ is getting on in years! P6=FS, DT43, Featured RB (RBF), OG P9=All other positions I thought about making this a poll, but decided that quantitative data doesn't tell the whole story. Astro
17. Final touch count: Jackson 20, Spiller 13. Yards per touch: Jackson 5.75, Spiller 10.07. Coaching.
18. Right, it's still not carved in stone. 1. Oregon-----------still has to play Stanford and Oregon State 2. K State-----------still has to play Baylor and Texas 3. Notre Dame-----still has to play BYU and Stanford 4. Texas A&M------still has to play New Mexico, then at LSU and at Mizzou 5. Alabama---------still has to play at Mississippi State, Chattanooga, and at Auburn
19. Here is where I have the QB's going this year: 1 1 Geno Smith---Would require a trade 1 2 Matt Barkley---Would require a trade 1 19 Tyler Wilson 2 48 Landry Jones 2 52 Tyler Bray 2 60 E.J. Manuel 2 63 Logan Thomas 3 76 Collin Klein 3 85 Aaron Murray (Jr.) 5 148 A.J. McCarron (Jr.) 6 166 Keith Price (Jr.) 6 168 Mike Glennon 6 173 Seth Doege 6 179 Tajh Boyd 7 200 Casey Pachall (suspJr.) 7 201 Colby Cameron 7 205 Zach Mettenberger (Jr.) 7 209 Zac Dysert 7 224 Brad Sorensen U 227 Sean Renfree U 239 Marqueis Gray I get the impression from Nix that they will take their franchise QB, meaning they have someone, or two, in mind. If I had to guess I'd throw out trading up for Smith, Barkley (short), and Logan Thomas (poor mechanics, wrong touch on passes). This leaves Wilson in the 1st, Bray-Manuel in the 2nd, and Optimus Klein in the 2nd or 3rd. Later in the draft it could be one of three: Mike Glennon ( was TJ Graham's QB), Seth Doege (game against Geno=499 yds 6 TD, 5 in 1st 7 poss and nice game vs TCU) , and Tajh Boyd (Clemson connection, just broke Whitehurst's Clemson record for TDs).
20. Chip Kelly's an attractive idea, but he succeeds in part because of the fast players he recruits. Everybody's fast in the NFL. Some don't "play fast", according to Kyle Williams.
21. Here's my feeble attempt at drafting 7 rounds, using DraftTek's Simulator. I have a 2013 Big Board of 300+ players now, and it's ready for this. We're drafting 9th, with Kansas City taking Geno Smith at #1. 1 9 Buffalo Luke Joeckel OT a can't miss guy giving you the most dominant line in football as I'd put Cordy Glenn at RT. Another possibility would be Star Lotulelei DT43 who's doing well in an inferior conference but would be a backup for Williams/Dareus, and Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State, who in my opinion is this year's Gilmore and could start. He'd be my 2nd choice here, then Tyler Wilson QB. Matt Barkley QB USC has fallen past our pick on our big board, but I don't like him. 2 40 Buffalo Kevin Minter ILB LSU - The defensive linemen at this point are not favorites of mine (Jackson Jeffcoat DE43 Texas, and William Gholston DE43 Michigan State). Minter has been playing out of his mind, and may likely continue his journey up to RD1, but he's here right now. Minter's sideline to sideline, AND covers his gaps. He's better at pass coverage than Manti T'eo. He had 20 tkl incl 17 solo in LSU's loss to FL, and --get this-- apologized to the fans afterward. That's all you need to know about his character. 3 72 Buffalo E.J. Manuel QB Florida State - I liked what I saw Thursday night. Manuel has an NFL arm, has the highest completion percentage in the ACC at 72.1%, has a 17.6 yards per attempt average, and had 102 rush yards vs. Clemson. His fade pass is unbelievable. I also could have Collin Klein here, and again, I suspect he'll be gone by the end of RD2 next April. 4 104 Buffalo Jonathan Brown OLB43 Illinois - The Linebackers need competition and depth. 5 136 Buffalo Aaron Mellette WR Elon - Mellette needs coaching, but he was lighting it up earlier this year and last. In fact, Draft Scout has him as the #2 WR. We have him falling to here like most draft sites. 6 168 Buffalo Jamar Taylor CB Boise State - I've watched this guy for a while, and I think he can hang with Stephon Gilmore and Ron Brooks. He's experienced (22 starts before this year), great bump & run coverage, and great open field tackles. 7- 194 Buffalo Mike Shanahan WR Pittsburgh - At 6'4", 225, Shanahan is just a football player, period. He's carrying an 18.1 ypc average. He's there, I'm picking him.
