  1. USC junior WR Robert Woods stated that he will request an evaluation from the NFL Draft Advisory board, but he hasn't made a decision on his future at this time.
  2. The Legend lives on from Chippewa on down To the stadium named for Ralph Wilson, The team, it is said, had been giv'n up for dead No more playoffs, lowest ratings on Nielsen...
  3. Citing sources, CBS Sports' Rob Rang tweeted a list of five junior QBs that possibly played their final home games Saturday. The five quarterbacks are: Georgia's Aaron Murray, Tennessee's Tyler Bray, Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas, Fresno State's Derek Carr, and San Jose State's David Fales. Carr apparently announced after his game Saturday that he would return, but the others are still noncommittal. Fales is a darkhorse and a personal favorite of the last couple months.
  4. Thank you for your service. and Hopefully we'll be hearing Ralph say the same thing to Chan.
  5. Bray is a tale of two half-seasons. He looked underwhelming vs Florida, far less accurate when he returned from thumb inj (3 TD 4 INTs) Since Alabama game, I recall he is 17 TD 2 INT. Whew! I now have the QB's like this: 1 1 Geno Smith 1 16 Matt Barkley 1 17 Tyler Wilson 1 32 Collin Klein 2 43 Landry Jones 2 49 E.J. Manuel 2 53 Aaron Murray (Jr.) 2 62 Tyler Bray 3 75 Logan Thomas 4 129 AJ McCarron (Jr.)
  6. Totally agree on McCarron. Best game manager in college. Top Risers right now: Collin Klein Alex Okafor Sharrif Floyd (Jr.) Joseph Randle (Jr.) Shayne Skov Kenny Stills (Jr.) Quinton Patton Arthur Brown Stepfan Taylor Fallers and Failers: Matt Elam (Jr.) Chase Thomas Logan Thomas Damontre Moore (Jr.) Sean Porter Omoregie Uzzi Tharold Simon (Jr.) Micah Hyde
  7. Choose the Eagle Scout, the guy who volunteers for the Special Olympics, the family man who invited 30 family members to his Senior Day. Te'O wins.
  8. Chris Petersen is the latest rumor...Although I love Boise State, it'd be a move upward for Petersen
  9. I have ILB's Te'O and Minter (if he comes out) going in RD1. --->At pick #5-13, Buffalo would snatch Te'O --->St. Louis Rams would be good candidates for Minter. Arthur Brown, DS's #1 ILB, would likely go to PGH, SD or WSH in RD1 or more likely to AZ as one of the first RD2 picks. Ogletree will fall into the 2nd round due to his costing his team a 4 game suspension: However, I would probably take Ogletree next over Shayne Scov, although Scov has played hurt up to now. Nico Johnson could figure in there, but Ogletree's sideline to sideline range (especially vs. spread offenses) trumps Nico's ability against pro sets.
  10. Jets will be coming off a more difficult schedule and may be out of it completely, in disarray, confused by QB controversy, who to fire, etc. 12/02 Cardinals (H) 1:00 PM 12/09 Jaguars (A)1:00 PM 12/17 Titans (A) 8:30 PM 12/23 Chargers (H) 8:20 PM 12/30 Jets (A) Bills 1:00 PM
  11. Bill Chickweed agrees about extra points, http://bit.ly/mSyaAi San Diego State eliminates punts, http://collegespun.com/national/san-diego-state-getting-rid-of-the-punt
  12. LOL! 31 teams were wrong on Cordy Glenn, too! In my other life I teach reading and writing at a private school.
  13. Happy birthday Fitz. I want a playoff run as a party favor. Not one of those confetti things.
  14. This year's battering ram prospect is a Junior, 256-lb. Trey Millard. He's a versatile John Kuhn/Corey McIntyre type, a battering ram. He was great in the Okla-Tx game, #33 in red. Watch the run at :40. http://youtu.be/OnMmWYG0zlw
  15. Not true. When you are putting quotes around a term, like "grammar Nazi", the comma belongs outside. When you say, "Ny33 is barking up the wrong tree", the comma belongs outside.
  16. Let's look at the talent in RD1, and assume we draft 11th. Geno Smith---won't be there Tyler Wilson--63%, threw for over 3,600 yds, elite skillset, beat Mallet's #'s, great game mgr, when hit went 40 yds, can feel / adjust to press. Athletic enough to scramble. Matt Barkley---61.5%, tough, accurate, smart, poised, short (6'2"). 102 TD's beat Leinart, great game mgr, less the scrambler Collin Klein----55 pts vs top 15 defenses several times, 4 rush TD, 2 pass TD vs WVU, command, pinpoint accuracy, not pretty mech, but presence. Heisman candidate. I'd take Wilson in RD1, but only if Te'O isn't there. I'd take several players over Barkley and Klein. Can't get Fitz more WR's in the draft; I don't like too many early receivers in this class. Even Terrance Williams wouldn't be a choice IMHO. I'd look at FA for receivers, and draft a WR on or after RD4, depending on some Juniors who may declare. My bet would be a Mike Shanahan (Pittsburgh) . You could get another TE weapon for Fitz; Eifert won't be there in RD2. Ertz and Toilolo are the top 2 receiving TE's, but Ertz is a Junior. Toilolo will be drafted as a reach in RD2, too early I think.
  17. http://bit.ly/UrffOo "Money in the Banana Stand" is a blog I read religiously. They made great predictions in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 players by leveling the playing field to compare players. This article is about WR's. They looked at: ---perspective relative to the offense in which the player exists ---players that have continually gotten better within the context of their offense across two seasons ---performance within the context of their program/conference They like Terrance Williams (Sr.), Jordan Matthews (Jr.), DeAndre Hopkins (Jr.), Keenan Allen (Jr.), and Cobi Hamilton (Sr.), and Tavon Austin the most, in that order. Terrance Williams is a RD1 pick for sure. He's the Blackmon in this class. I have Hamilton in RD3, as he has only 2 TD in his last 13 SEC games, zero this year. I don't think the Jr.'s will come out except Jordan Matthews, currently in my RD2 range. He's Vandy's offense, and may want a bigger stage. Seven of his 9 games, he's had at least 75 receiving yards. Tavon Austin is currently at #45 on my board, and you know Nix likes waterbugs. I think he'd be a mistake as a RD2 pick, though, as his 3 year downward trend in yards/catch, his slight stature, and the tendency for waterbugs going over the middle is slim. My feeling is that we're going to draft WR at or later than RD4, so guys like Wheaton, Abbrederis, and Patton, and Marcus Sales would be more likely.
  18. To be fair, Dez Bryant just caught 12 passes for 145 yards and a TD. It was against the Cleveland Browns, so yes, there will be an asterisk. *
  19. ^^^^^ This. I like the idea of moving the XP back to the 35, though.
  20. Anybody know our record in domes? I don't think it's too good over the last 10 years.
  21. That's what I'm hearing. Never draft a Blaine. One stat about Landry Jones that interests me is that his YPA (yards per attempt) is higher than all of the QB's not including Geno and Barkley. And higher than all 32 starting NFL QB's.
  22. I would have agreed with you, but I looked up DE43 on ProFootballFocus.com, and they rank our DE's at #19, 32, 58, 87, and 99. The computer picked Cornelius Carradine based on BPA given TBD's Positional Rankings. 19 Kyle Moore 32 Mario Williams 58 Shawne Merriman 87 Chris Kelsay 99 Mark Anderson
  23. http://www.drafttek.com/2013-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp Let me know what you think of the results of our Positional Ranking changes!!! Astro
  24. Just did a DraftTek Simulation where I Grabbed Manti Te'O with my first pick. Here is the simulation after making that pick: 1 9 Manti Te'o ILB Notre Dame 2 40 Landry Jones QB Oklahoma 3 72 Cordarrelle Patterson WRF Tennessee 4 104 Jonathan Brown OLB43 Illinois 5 136 Denard Robinson WRS Michigan That's as far as the DraftTek Simulator goes for right now, but I used my own Big Board to flesh out RD6-7 and UDFA depth: 6 168 Malliciah Goodman DE43 97 Clemson 6'4" 280 7 209 Cassius Marsh (Jr.) DT/TE 99 UCLA 6'3" 290 UDFA: Hakeem Smith SS 29 Louisville 6'1" 188 Denicos Allen OLB43 28 Michigan State 5'11 232 D.J. Harper RB 7 Boise State 5'9" 205 Brad Sorensen QB 4 Southern Utah 6'4" 235 Kyle Van Noy OLB 3 BYU 6'3" 235 Sean Renfree QB 19 Duke 6'4" 225 LaDarius Perkins RBF 27 Mississippi State 5'10" 190 Ryan Griffin TE 94 Connecticut 6'5" 248 Ivory Wade OC 78 Baylor 6'4" 310 John Goodman WR 81 Notre Dame 6'3" 215 This taught me a few things. One, the sky won't fall if we take Te'O with the first pick. Two, guys like Landry Jones, EJ Manuel, Tyler Bray, and Aaron Murray might be in the mix for a RD2 pick. There will also be QB depth later (Renfree, Sorenson, Glennon, McCarron) Three, we can wait at positions like WR and D-Line in this draft and get quality.
