  1. My favorite WR in each round: RD1 - Keenan Allen / DeAndre Hopkins (tie) RD2 - Justin Hunter RD3 - Tavarres King RD4 - Jared Abbrederis (I'd take Denard Robinson here) RD5 - Jordan Matthews RD6 - Mike Shanahan RD7 - Marquise Goodwin UDFA-Marlon Brown
  2. It is a degenerative disorder, so the most you can expect is that he'll lead the league in tackles for loss for a few years.
  3. Pro Football weekly said today, "One of Pettine’s orders of business will be analyzing the LB position, a position with some question marks. Some of Pettine’s former ’backers in New York,Calvin Pace and Bart Scott, could become available as potential cap casualties. MLB Kelvin Sheppard was a player we heard that internally, the Bills had high hopes for, but who did not live up to expectations in 2012, considering the struggles of the run defense. Pettine will be evaluating how Sheppard, WLBNick Barnett and SLB Nigel Bradham would fit into his system." Up to now, I was bypassing the OLB34's and rush DE's when looking for likely RD1#8 players. Now I'm wondering if we DO go rushbacker in the first----Jarvis Jones (if he falls), Damontre Moore, Mingo. And Dion Jordan.
  4. Here's my first 32. Mine, not DraftTek's. #8-17 look pretty good. 1 Luke Joeckel (Jr.decl) 2 Jarvis Jones (Jr.,decl) 3 Bjoern Werner (Jr.,decl) 4 Star Lotulelei 5 Manti Teo 6 Dee Milliner 7 Damontre Moore (Jr., decl) 8 Keenan Allen (Jr., decl) 9 Geno Smith 10 Johnthan Banks 11 Dion Jordan 12 Ezekiel Ansah 13 Alec Ogletree (Jr.,decl) 14 Chance Warmack 15 Sheldon Richardson (Jr.,decl) 16 Kevin Minter (Jr.,decl) 17 Terrance Williams 18 Eric Fisher 19 Alex Okafor 20 Johnathan Hankins (Jr.,decl) 21 Barkevious Mingo 22 Montee Ball 23 Tyler Wilson 24 Matt Barkley 25 Jonathan Cooper 26 Barrett Jones 27 Jonathan Jenkins 28 Eric Reid (Jr.,decl) 29 Sam Montgomery 30 Jesse Williams 31 Sharrif Floyd (Jr.,decl) 32 Kenny Vaccaro
  5. Scott Carasik has a nice article on the Rex Ryan Hybrid Defense that Pettine's run. http://www.scardraft.com/RyanHybrid46.html I'm all in on this hire. His experience, knowledge of OLB play, connections, AFCE knowledge, and motivational ability make him a very attractive candidate.
  6. I think we should cover our bases and take a QB early and late in the draft, and sign a veteran (or in the case of Vick, a veterinarian). Here's where I have the QB class being drafted right now: 1 10 Geno Smith 1 23 Tyler Wilson 1 24 Matt Barkley 2 44 Landry Jones 2 50 Ryan Nassib 2 59 Tajh Boyd (Jr.--not yet decl) 3 68 E.J. Manuel 3 75 Tyler Bray (Jr.,decl) 3 86 Collin Klein 4 114 Matt Scott 4 121 Logan Thomas (Jr.) 5 154 Mike Glennon 6 170 Brendon Kay 7 209 Nick Florence 7 213 Seth Doege 7 217 Zach Mettenberger (Jr.-not yet decl) Geno's stock is likely going to rise at the individual workout and combine, so he's out, but Nix allowed as to that he has some interest in Nassib, and Landry'd be there in RD2. Glennon has come back to Earth, although he will be likely gone by our RD3, but taking Nassib-Jones-Glennon at RD2 and taking Florence-Doege-Mettenberger in addition to the vet gives you a minicamp with 3 QBs (4 if you keep TJax).
  7. I really like this idea! Here's a proposal which I'd run by the folks at DraftTek, giving you credit, Koufax. We have priority values that team analysts come up with (our QB P-value is 1, our OLB and WR P-values are 2, etc.). We'd assign a weighting for each position, and we'd figure out a formula using P-value and weighting that would pick the QB over OLB or WR if the score was higher. Something like: QB=weighting of 1.9 RB=weighting of 1.7 CB=weighting of 1.4 WR=weighting of 1.4 DE=weighting of 1.6 DT=weighting of 1.3 TE=weighting of 1.2 LT=weighting of 1.6 Big Uglies=1.0 Safeties=1.0 I would love everybody's feedback on the wisdom of weighting positions.
  8. You mean, like this? LOL BTW, I prefer of the RD2 pick. I took all your positional needs and they put them on our team needs board, and ran a new DRAFTSIM yesterday. Me likey!
  9. I'm looking at the upcoming DraftTek mock right now, and my advice pre-combine is to wait. Take value in the first staying put at #8 (top 2 WR's should be there along with 4 DT's and a CB). Grab T Wilson or any of these guys in the 2nd: Robert Woods David Amerson Logan Ryan Nico Johnson Chase Thomas Stepfan Taylor Travis Frederick Then take OLB in the 3rd. I like Khaseem Greene OLB43 Rutgers there, but here's what's there at our pick in RD3: Eddie Lacy RBF Alabama Landry Jones QB Oklahoma (who I also like) Phillip Thomas SS Fresno State Corey Lemonier DE43 Auburn Nickell Robey CB USC
  10. I like the hire. In Marrone's last year as Saints' OC, Drew Brees ended season 16 yards short of Dan Marino's single-season record of 5084 total passing yards. Syracuse, Boise State and Oregon have had most road victories during the Marrone era. Marrone also amped up Saints offense with Brees, then in his 5th year: more plays, attempts, completions, yds, pass rating. When Marrone was with Saints he had Reggie Bush (6'0, 4.3 speed), now he has Spiller (5'11", 4.3 speed) . When Marrone was with Saints ('06-'08), Saints set records for Passing Yards in a game and Rushing Touchdowns in a season--still stand today Drew Brees told Scott Pitoniak he “loved working with Marrone because [he] knew offenses inside and out” http://bit.ly/TTUUln Marrone was Payton's OC with Saints. In 2006 and 2008 the Saints led the league in total offense.
  11. My comments on Twitter this morning, most recent first:: Marrone's D-back coach at 'Cuse was Donnie Henderson, and Gary Gibbs, DC with Marrone when at Saints ,also a possibility #Bills "agressively" looking for DC means coach not in playoff hunt. Hello Lovie, Keith Butler, Jon Hoke, Chuck Cecil During Marrone's O-Line Coach years (02-05), they were run-first team that featured guy named Curtis Martin. #Bills might look at 'Cuse DC Scott Shafer. Attitude is dictate to the offense, attack, be unpredictable, aggressive and proactive Syracuse players in NFL Draft: QB Ryan Nassib RD2; WR Alec Lemon RD3-4; LT Justin Pugh RD2-3; SS Shamarko Thomas RD3 In Marrone's last year as Saints OC, Drew Brees ended season 16 yards short of Dan Marino's single-season record of 5084 total passing yards Marrone's first game as OC was first post-Katrina home game for Saints in Superdome. They blew out the Falcons 23-3, went on to playoff win. Marrone's buddies, Saints' OC Pete Carmichael and RunGame Coord. Aaron Kromer, would make nice interviews. Marrone's RB coach should come to #Bills. He's Tyrone Wheatley, Giants and Raiders RB. He's been on staff since 2010 Syracuse, Boise State and Oregon have had most road victories during the Marrone era. #Bills, not so much. #BillsMafia Marrone also amped up Saints offense with Brees, then in his 5th year: more plays, attempts, completions, yds, pass rating. When Marrone was with Saints he had Bush (6'0, 4.3 speed), now he has Spiller (5'11", 4.3 speed) with #Bills #BillsMafia RussBrandon will save $$$ moving Marrone to #Bills. U-Haul 150 mi West on I-90. Sink savings into orange dome for the Ralph. When Marrone was with Saints ('06-'08), Saints set records for Passing Yards in a game and Rushing Touchdowns in a season--still stand today Marrone was told he was new #Bills HC at 2 a.m. --Marrone was up, lifting NHL lockout. Drew Brees told Scott Pitoniak he “loved working with Marrone because [he] knew offenses inside and out” http://bit.ly/TTUUln Marrone hire regionalizes #Bills further to the East. First Rochester for TCamp, now 'Cuse. Carmichael's running game man at Saints, Aaron Kromer, is also available. He coached OL (Madden OL award 2 of last 3 yrs) We won't know about OC Carmichael until after Tues.--he int's for the Bears HC job #Bills should look at Pete Carmichael of #Saints for OC. League-high 43 TD, > 5,000 yds for the 3rd time
  12. My favorite OLB43's, assuming our new DC sticks with the 4-3, are Arthur Brown and Sean Porter in RD2 and Jelani Jenkins in RD3 (still hasn't declared). Porter needs to add weight, but has real explosion, has played in an NFL style defense, plays right and left side, has superb acceleration, adjusts well to blitz pickups and audibles, and is known for his pass rushing. Arthur Brown was Draft Scout's #1 OLB, but I have him #37, and he might climb up in the Senior Bowl. He plays ST, and he's an opportunistic playmaker who minds his gaps.
  13. Jarvis Jones is going to be a firecracker. Loud for a short time. I see him going to a 3-4 team, and gone before we pick. Same with the 3M guys (Mingo, Montgomery, Manti)-- All are either 3-4 and/or ILB and/or gone before we pick.
  14. I think Chip Kelly to the Browns is a done deal. Time to circle the wagons and heat up the leftovers.
  15. Levitre is right. The verb "to lay" always requires a direct object. OR two.
  16. Agree. If I had to rank the QB's right now here's where I have them: 1 11 Geno Smith 1 16 Matt Barkley 1 18 Tyler Wilson 2 39 Ryan Nassib 2 44 Collin Klein 2 46 Tyler Bray (Jr.,decl) 2 48 Landry Jones 2 59 Aaron Murray (Jr.) 2 60 E.J. Manuel 3 85 Logan Thomas (Jr.) 3 87 A.J. McCarron (Jr.) 4 114 Tajh Boyd (Jr.) 5 147 Mike Glennon 6 165 Brendon Kay 7 208 Nick Florence 7 212 Seth Doege 7 216 Zach Mettenberger (Jr.)
  17. Kelce will go maybe RD4, On the plus side, I think he was 4th or thereabouts among TE's in nation in recep avg, but the knock on him was that he was suspended all of 2010 (violation of team rules). He has the DNA (younger brother of Eagles OG Jason Kelce).
  18. Watch: http://youtu.be/nJG1qo6ljLI
  19. Would you care to wager that he's on their short list?
  20. TE: I’ve been tweeting with Chandler, and he feels he’ll be ready for Training Camp. I bet they’re done with Lee Smith. I have Eifert #37 on my board, and we pick #40 in RD2. Mychal Rivera might vault up draft boards before April. Think RD4: ILB-OLB: I think Te’O will go before our #8 pick (most likely #1 or #5). Same with J Jones (who I see as better in a 3-4), which could make Nix-Whaley trade up to get Te’O. But not if Chip Kelly or Mike McCoy becomes our head coach). The only available LB I’d have taken before more weapons for our QB in RD1 is going back to school-- CJ Mosley. All other available LB’s are better 3-4 defenders or retrofit DE’s (Mingo, Montgomery). Here’s a possibility---Minter (if he declares). Bradham stays, and I think Sheppard will grade out better than we think. QB: I know Ralph said he’d be going after a Franchise QB, but he isn’t deciding anymore….Maybe the head coach (especially Chip Kelly or Mike McCoy) likes a falling Geno Smith (because of his performance vs Syracuse) or reaches for Wilson or maybe Tajh Boyd or Optimus Klein. I think this is a flawed QB class, and I think the new Head Coach (I like Kelly-McCoy-Hudson-Smith in that order) will agree, and pick elsewhere, opting for the QB-rich 2014 class.
  21. I wonder if the 3:30 press conference is still on. Here's a good list of head candidates: http://www.buffalobillsdraft.com/2012/12/potential-buffalo-bills-head-coach-replacements/
  22. from Fox: JAY GRUDEN Team/position: Cincinnati offensive coordinator Age: 45 Previous NFL head coaching interviews: None, but that’s only because Gruden declined them last January out of loyalty to the Bengals for giving him the chance to become their offensive coordinator. Gruden had spent the past two seasons working for the Florida Tuskers of the ill-fated UFL. Why is Gruden radar-worthy? Jon Gruden isn’t the only offensive guru in the family. Jay has done a masterful job constructing an offense around two second-year cornerstones — quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green. The Bengals will make back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since 1981 and 1982. Potential fit: Any team needing to develop a young quarterback. Gruden’s experience as a head coach in the UFL and Arena Football League (Orlando Predators) is also a plus. Trivia note: Gruden won six AFL championships — two as a head coach and four as a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Storm.
