  1. I would like to add Rodney Smith - EJ Manuel's target, fastest in short shuttle, he had the country's longest receptions streak in games. RD6#178
  2. Buffaloed, here are the guys you listed and where I have them: Robert Woods USC 6 1/2 201 4.4 Forty...............RD1#30 Ryan Swope Texas AM 6-0 205 4.37 forty..............RD2#64 Kenny Stills OKLA 6 1/2 195 4.28 forty..................RD4#100 (before our RD4) Corey Fuller VT 6-2 204 4.37 forty..........................RD6#183 Marcus Davis VT 6-3 223 4.4 forty large hands......RD7#205 Marquess Wilson WSU 6-2 5/8 195 4.4 forty............RD7-UDFA#234 Tyrone Goard EKY 6-4 205 4.44 forty.....................RD7-UDFA#252 I don't like his inconsistency, his effort, his blocking, his focus, his body catching. He'll be there in RD7. Bottom of the 2nd at worst. For most of the year when these guys were actually playing football, he was McShay's #1 WR. He described him as "A.J. Green w/better fluidity, body control, & route savvy". I liked his ability to explode off the line, the way he deals with CB's, and his chemistry with Bray.
  3. per Tony Pauline, Ryan Nassib threw 75 passes only 4 hit the ground, 3 were drops. And yes, #Bills GM Buddy Nix was present. I tweeted that I was glad Nix was already working on his RD3 picks.
  4. I had to look at Pro Football Focus's Premium Stats to get info on Lee Smith. He started 7 games this year .According to their analytics looking at every snap, he had 3 positive games, all when Chandler was there, and 4 negative games, 2 of which were when Chandler was out. Smith is the 46th-ranked TE in the league out of 62. IMHO, we're getting at least one new TE in the draft and possibly one in FA.
  5. Wouldn't Urbik move over and Warmack come in at Guard? [ducks]
  6. http://www.drafttek.com/nfl-combine-results-2013-10-split.asp We got sick of having to go to many pages to get our combine results so we built a better mousetrap. Hope it's as useful to you as it will be to us. Astro
  7. I suspect our positional needs (shown here for each team) have switched, so I am conducting a poll. This will affect future mock drafts on DraftTek. I have made it real by selecting players downstream from our picks in each round, using several mock drafts. I don't believe all players will go in the round specified; e.g., we may need to reach for Mike Glennon in RD1 b/c he won't be there at #41. I haven't included the option of drafting QB in RD3. Which 3-rounder described below would you like most for improving this team with these coaches? A: Draft QB, then WR, then OLB Example Using Players Still Available IMHO: 1-Geno Smith Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Mike Glennon QB 2-Justin Hunter, Robert Woods, DeAndre Hopkins WR 3-Chase Thomas OLB43 B: Draft WR, then QB, then OLB 1-Cordarrelle Patterson, Keenan Allen, Tavon Austin WR 2-Ryan Nassib, Tyler Bray, QB 3-Chase Thomas OLB43 C: Draft OLB, then QB, then WR 1-Jarvis Jones, Sam Montgomery, Ogletree OLB34 2-Justin Hunter, Robert Woods, DeAndre Hopkins WR 3-E.J. Manuel, Landry Jones QB D: Draft QB, then OLB, then WR 1-Geno Smith Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Mike Glennon QB 2-Michael Buchanan, Khaseem Greene OLB 3-Quinton Patton, Tavarres King, Aaron Dobson, Stedman Bailey WR You may certainly mix and match players; I'm more interested in seeing if our positional preferences have changed since last month. --Astro
  8. Which quarterback are these descriptions? “lacks great physical stature and strength” “lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush” ”does not throw a really tight spiral” “a system type play that could get exposed if forced to ad-lib” All are Tom Brady. Currently on my board, not adjusted for yesterday's combine results (won't be much different, as we use game tape, not Underwear Olympics): 1 10 Geno Smith--------Bills draft at 8 1 24 Matt Barkley 2 36 Mike Glennon 2 44 Tyler Wilson------Bills draft at 41 2 55 Ryan Nassib 3 70 E.J. Manuel-------Bills draft at 71 3 92 Tyler Bray 4 103 Landry Jones---Bills draft at 102 4 124 Collin Klein 5 142 Zac Dysert------Bills draft at 136 5 148 Matt Scott 5 160 Seth Doege----Bills draft at 166 6 192 Sean Renfree 7 195 Brad Sorensen UDFA: U 238 Nick Florence, Baylor---Big target has been Terrence Williams, had > yards passing (3,191 to 3,093) than RG3, one more rushing TD (6 to 5) and was sacked 5 times less than RG3 U 357 Jeff Tuel QB, Washington State----broken collarbone in 1st gm 2011, came back midseason, reinjured, inj drop him here. good athlete good arm, good acc, best year as soph: 2,780 yds and 18 TD. Won Casino Bowl
  9. Pro Football Focus Premium Stats show our TE's ranked (out of 62 in the NFL): 20th (Chandler), 46th (Smith) overall, 10th (Chandler), 62nd (Smith) yards receiving. Smith was last, NEP* had 3 TE's in the top 6. 35th (Smith) and 39th (Chandler) run blocking. 26th (Chandler) and 62nd (Smith) in yards after catch per reception Yes. Or I'm OK with Smith - Hunter in the first two rounds, Tavarres King in the 3rd and Travis Kelce TE in the 4th. Free Agent Defense, young explosive offense.
  10. Thanks for putting your mock out there. Today's release of an injured WR certainly is the end of the world.[/sarcasm]. A tall WR with speed and moves is now more of a priority to MarroNix, and there are several in the draft in RD1-3. Maybe FA will help us through this choppy water on our new boat.
  11. I see 2 tall receivers in our fuuuuuuuture....one by FA and one by the draaaaaaaft.... 12. Good choices. I just submitted my GRAB list to DraftTek. If these players are there, the computer takes the player in that order for that round. Geno Smith West Virginia QB 6'3" 213 1 8 Jarvis Jones LSU OLB34 6'2" 242 1 8 Dion Jordan Oregon OLB34 6'6" 246 1 8 Cordarrelle Patterson Tennessee WRF 6'3" 205 1 8 Alex Okafor Texas OLB34 6'4" 260 2 41 Justin Hunter Tennessee WRF 6'4" 205 2 41 DeAndre Hopkins Clemson WRF 6'1" 200 2 41 Matt Barkley USC QB 6'2" 220 3 71 Corey Lemonier Auburn OLB34 6'4" 242 3 71 Ryan Nassib Syracuse QB 6'2" 229 4 102 Michael Williams Alabama TE 6'6" 270 4 102 Travis Kelce Cincinnati TE 6'5" 260 4 102
  13. This. He's shopping Kelsay for a 7th. Gotta have a 7th. 19 and 0 this week! [shuts lid]
  14. Here’s my thinking right now. I’d love your feedback. QB------After Smith and Barkley, the rest are flawed in various ways. Some are better fits (pun intended) for Hackett’s West Coast Offense (Barkley, Nassib, Smith, Jones, Wilson). Nix says they’re looking for an “accurate, tough” QB. IF Smith or Barkley is there, they take one of them, in that order. I don’t think they’ll take a second QB in the draft as they have Jackson, Corp and Fitz on the roster right now. If Fitz doesn’t take a salary cut, he’s gone and the Bills might take a developmental QB (Klein, Doege, Renfree, Sorensen) later. They can't risk falling in love with 1 QB; just do their homework and pick the quarterNassib that can run Hackett's offense. LB-----Two guys who can play LB could be gone at our 8th pick. However, their prime NFL position is not OLB34, but DE43, okay for our old D but not necessarily for Pettine (although he’d adapt). These include: Damontre Moore DE43 /OLB34 -39 (drops 39 slots on our big board if used as a OLB34) 94 Texas A&M 6'4" 250 Dion Jordan DE43 / OLB34 -0 96 Oregon 6'6" 243 Could they help our team? Absolutely; they are Top 6 in the draft. Will they fill a hole? Yes if you think Mark Anderson’s 2 surgeries have left us dry opposite Mario at DE34. Does it satisfy our need at OLB34? No. The next tier of players makes it interesting: Barkevious Mingo OLB34 / WILB -16 49 LSU 6'4" 240 Jarvis Jones OLB34/ DE43 -0 29 Georgia 6'2" 242 Alec Ogletree WILB /OLB43 -0 9 Georgia 6'3" 236 If the Bills decide to wait for late RD1 or RD2#41 for their QB (which I hope they do and don’t lock onto one QB), these 3 guys are more interesting because they are primarily NFL OLB34’s PLUS they each have scheme versatility. I have Mingo on my board at 8, Jones at 12 (was at 1 before the spinal stenosis story), and Ogletree at 25 (theft and dirty drug test drops him for Bills). Why no Ziggy Ansah? DraftTek has him on their board at 34. He’s like Moore and Jordan, just worse at his second position than either of them (that’s a slide of 58 slots if you use him as a OLB34). Ezekiel Ansah Brigham Young 6'5" 270 DE43 / OLB34 -58 Montgomery is the other way around, the way you’d like it if you’re short on LBs like we are: Sam Montgomery LSU 6'4" 248 OLB34 / DE43 -6 He’s never played OLB34 so he’d only be of value if he slipped to RD2 IMHO. Surprising agility and speed. He sure can play DE in the way Pettine wants it played, but he could fall to the Bills at 41 because coaches aren’t sure how to use him. That won’t be Pettine who thinks that. Would we take Arthur Brown? Arthur Brown Kansas State 6'1" 228 WILB / OLB43 -0 We think Arthur Brown is a definite possibility for the Bills, as there is zero falloff between using him at WILB next to Sheppard in the 3-4, or as the OLB opposite Bradham (or a Jets FA) when Pettine goes to 4-3. Optimally, I’d see Brown (or Montgomery) as a more of a target IF the Bills trade down (ideally, for St. Louis’s 16 and 22 first round picks. In my dreams STL wants Jarvis Jones and have no hope of waiting for him at 16, and they trade up to 8). Have I mentioned that I hate formatting on this chatboard? --astro
  15. I still think KC takes Joeckel and Philly goes D-Lineman. If Geno's on the board at 6 Bills might trade with Cleveland to get Smith. If they stand pat, they're liable to have Arizona take him (although I'm hearing LT if Fisher is still there).
  16. Premonition is good enough for me. Will be reported as news in 3...2...1...
  17. Dean Kindig @TCBILLS_Astro #Bills to draft "accurate" QB per Whaley. At 62% completion rate, that's Geno & Manuel all 4 years, Jones-Barkley-Wilson 3 years. #DraftTek
  18. I still think Jones is great value, but not until the 3rd. I think lots of the posturing going on about Nassib is to force us to take him earlier, as well. Is that what you're thinking?
  19. So I have put GRAB in for Ogletree in RD1. So far as LB's you'd have Bradham, Ogletree, Sheppard, and one from this draft or FA. I have a GRAB in on Geno Smith in RD1 if he falls to #8.
  20. More from Doug Whaley at his conference this am: Re QBs in weather Doug Whaley: You have to put stock into it because it's going to come into play and one of the main attributes are toughness and arm strength and we'd like to use that weather to our advantage ....Barkley? Doug Whaley: We'll have a better gauge on that when we see him workout live on March 27th at USC. Qualities in QB Doug Whaley: You have to have a guy with a presence, arm strength, accuracy and an ability to make people around him better.....We're going to try to get as much competition at that position as possible, like we will at all positions. Competition makes everybody better and the team better. Can need trump your board, as in QB, LB? Doug Whaley: If they're close we'll go with need, but need will not trump position on the draft board if there's a difference in grade. How can you reassure Bills fans that you will pick a franchise quarterback after missing out on players like Andy Dalton, Russell Wilson, and Colin Kaepernick? Doug Whaley: There are no guarantees in this business, but we will do our due diligence to make sure we pick the most talented player to help us to get where we need to be. If a QB is available at the right spot for us then we'll make the call. Will the Bills take a QB in the first 3 rounds? Doug Whaley: We're looking for the best player available in the first three rounds. We stay true to our board. If it happens to be a QB then so be it.
  21. Everybody's feedback is very helpful, especially in changing our team's Positional Needs at DraftTek. While I understand the need for Linebacker and Quarterback, the DraftTek computer won't reach to take a player that's 9 or more slots down the Big Board. Te'O has fallen, Ogletree fell but is still within 9, Mingo is there. On the QB side, Geno Smith is within 9 but may go early, and the rest are beyond 9 slots... Finally, I can Grab a player in any round, so I'd appreciate as much feedback as possible.
  22. Interesting stat. Wouldn't have guessed that. OK, I'm all in! Gimme: 1-Cordarrelle WR 2-Nassib QB 3-Le'Veon Bell RB 4-Collin Klein QB 5-Michael Williams TE 6-Levine Toilolo TE
  23. I like Glennon; yes he's a Flacco or Bledsoe, and Marrone-Hackett said they could adapt their system to player strengths (that's why I like them). I think Barkley is the BQA at #8 for a WCO, Glennon is the BQA at #41, although Russ Lande thinks that the best for WCO are Barkley-Nassib-Jones-Wilson in that order . Joe Buscaglia at WGR has a list of his favorite QBs. http://www.wgr550.com/Quarterback-Rankings/12022322?pid=294881 He will have a full report on Glennon up tomorrow. I would move Wilson up more than Glennon if we're talking about bad O-Lines.
  24. He'd be a great choice, same round, D2 player, third in the nation in forced fumbles with five, recorded 8.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, finished with 27 TFL in his career. In fact, Jenkins is less likely to be there at our RD2 pick.
  25. As in, "That receiver just done Swope down the field!" He's one of the guys that "catches the ball when covered". Trying to figure out who Nix means when he says this. Conner Vernon is another one. He could fill in at RB, too, 250 lbs., good out of the backfield catching it too.
