  1. Robinson has a Woods body type and is 6'3". He'd be a good RD2 alternative if coleman's been picked. Forgot about Cajuste. Wonder if he'd declare, I wouldn't if I were him. DJ Coles of VaTech is zooming up our board, he's a solid guy who may end up in the 3rd or 4th round. http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-College-WRs-2014-Draft.asp
  2. Evans is the guy who has made Manziel better than he is. Manziel runs around, tosses up a jump ball, and Evans highpoints it. Evans is not fast, but think of him as a tight end with good catching skills. He'll be there at our pick in RD1. In RD2, Brandon Coleman of Rutgers is the big guy. If you don't get one of them, Moncrief or Martavis Bryant should be there on Day 3, but they've been less than stellar at times...inconsistent. http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-College-WRs-2014-Draft.asp
  3. While I have questions about all of them, I like Bridgewater, Hundley, and Carr. I think we'll take a QB after RD2 so look down the list a bit. Mettenberger's injured, so he'll be dropping to 10th on this list. http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-QBs.asp
  4. See, there was this poll (see link above) where TBD determined that their top 2 needs were OG (75 votes) and TE (70 votes). Seferian-Jenkins is the top TE (before Ebron and Amaro), and Gabe Jackson is my #2-rated Guard (after Yankey and before Steen). Not a bad haul.
  5. You made the Bills' positional needs known in this poll, I submitted them, and the computer gave us this draft as the result. It's 4 rounds. What do you think? On the right are always 2 other names that popped up; do you prefer the alternative more than the actual pick? I'm interested what TBD thinks of the Round 4 pick in particular. That fell to us because other teams weren't picking that position, and he was too high a value to pass up. Does a later pick interest you more? His explosion factor is top 5 at his position, and he falls there because he's never been a receiver in that offense. Astro
  6. Before the Jan 15 declarations date, we have four WRF (Featured WR's) in the coming RD1 of the draft. Three of those are Juniors who can wait a year, and the fourth is Senior Jordan Mathews. In RD2, Brandon Coleman is the big guy. While there is no big-fast WR like Cordarrelle among them, I like 6'5" 225 lb Mike Evans , a Junior from Texas A&M in the first (with Senior Jordan Mathews a distant second), and Senior Brandon Coleman of Rutgers in the second. Evans improved significantly from last year, especially against better teams. Coleman is the faster guy in straight-line speed, and Evans is the better jump-ball catcher (he had Manziel throwing to him). Against AP ranked teams, the 6'5" 225 lb Evans' avg ypc was 24.04, and 20.29 against FBS winning teams. Against AP ranked teams, the 6'1" 205 lb Watkins' avg ypc was 13.71 Against AP ranked teams, the 6'0", 195 lb Marqise Lee's average ypc was 12.48 Against AP ranked teams, the 6'3", 205 lb Jordan Mathews' average ypc was 12.06, but the Senior had more 50% catches vs AP teams Against AP ranked teams, the 6'6", 220 lb Brandon Coleman's average ypc was 12.00 -Astro
  7. I simulated this before I looked at your post. I traded down with Cleveland, who has #14 and #28. The Simulator has not been updated since October, but you get the idea: 1 14 Buffalo CKouandjio OT Alabama 1 28 Buffalo Khalil Mack OLB34 Buffalo 2 38 Buffalo Jace Amaro TE Texas Tech 3 70 Buffalo Ryan Groy OG Wisconsin 4 102 Buffalo LPurifoy CB Florida 5 134 Buffalo Kony Ealy DE34 Missouri 6 166 Buffalo Aaron Donald DT43 Pittsburgh 7 203 Buffalo Karlos Williams RBF Florida State Yeah, good points. I think Donald will impress in the bowls and at the Combine and end up bottom RD2. Simulator above shows how far he's come since October...he was RD6 then. I didn't list DT separate from NT because I think we have our DTs. Donald might go to a 4-3 base team anyway. I like the RD3-4 talent at ILB more than the RD3-4 talent at WLB. Check it out.I also like our OLBs more than I do Moats at ILB.
  8. Aaron Donald from Pitt is rising up draft boards. He is quick, disruptive; he leads the nation in TFL per game. I think he'd be tremendous. Here is a nice article about Donald : http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/24270660/nfl-draft-pitts-aaron-donald-is-college-footballs-most-explosive-dt
  9. If you want some help, I just read a good article about the Bills' draft needs here: http://www.draftmecca.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=163&p=1251#p1251
  10. I haven't done this as a poll in a long while. Vote for as many positions as you feel are worthwhile picks in RD1-3. I'll take the position highest in the voting and that will be our P1, second-highest the P2, and third-highest the P3, and so on. It doesn't mean the computer will pick in that order (it won't over-reach for a position). Astro
  11. Remember that relieved feeling you had when the house fell down on the wicked witch in Oz? I just had a "Wicked Witch is Dead" moment!
  12. I think Barr will IF he is put in a situation where he can be versatile (like with Pettine on Bills). Our DraftTek D-Line analyst sees no fall-off when Barr plays as a OLB43 or OLB34, making him a very early pick. Here we have him 3rd pick overall. The "Dif" column shows no diff between his primary position (OLD43) and a second position (OLB34), making him the most versatile player in RD1. The same is true for Mack--no fall-off when he plays as a OLB43 or OLB34, and he just leaped from slot 24 to 15, but Barr is my choice if he's there at 6. He likely won't be, and Mack is a fantastic choice if Barr isn't there.
  13. I simulated this draft with a 6th pick using the simulator here. I'm going WR, OG, TE, OLB, RB as P1, P2, P2, P2, P3, respectively. This is a pretty good year for OG, relatively thin for TE, and no RB would be worth the 6th pick, but there's a good supply in mid rounds. Our best draft IMHO: 1-Sammy Watkins WRF Clemson---most mocks have him at 6 or 7; I prefer him to Evans this high up, and no TE is worth a 6th. I would also think about OT here 2-Vic Beasley OLB34 Clemson--- topped the ACC in Sacks (12) and Forced Fumbles (4) 3-Tre Jackson OG Florida State or Arthur Lynch TE Georgia)---Best Bet: take the 3rd-ranked Guard but can do the opposite 4-Xavier Grimble TE USC or Chris Burnette OG Georgia---Best Bet: take the 4th-ranked TE--can do the opposite 5-E.J. Gaines CB Missouri, Andrew Jackson ILB Western Kentucky, or Telvin Smith ILB Florida State --Love all 3. 6-Karlos Williams RBF Florida State---This guy is going to move up after bowls and combine. He's thunder, Spiller's lightning 7-James Franklin QB Missouri---again, will move up if he comes out. He outplayed Manziel in SEC East
  14. He's eligible. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000268659/article/tracking-underclassmen-intentions-for-2014-nfl-draft
  15. Is the solution to get the best WR despite drafting two last year? Woods has had 2 good games (Game 2 and 4) and 8 average to below average performances thus far. Goodwin is ranked by PFF as our best receiver this year. I'm all for putting WR as the Bills' greatest need over at DraftTek, but Twitter fans have TE above WR as the top need on Offense, followed by OG.
  16. While it's a relatively poor draft for a RD1 running back, and a possibility it'll be worse when Juniors don't declare for the NFL, there is a RB I like in every round of the 2014 draft. Right now, Power Mocks have us at drafting 8th, so I'm looking on my RB Board nearest 8, 40, 72, 104, 136, 168, and 200. Seniors are in bold, and Jeremy Hill has declared so he's in bold too. RD1: Melvin Gordon Wisconsin 6'1" 207 RD2: Jeremy Hill LSU 6'2" 235 (prefer over Bishop Sankey Washington 5'10" 200) RD3: Marion Grice Arizona State 6'0" 205 (over Lache Seastrunk 5'10" 205) RD4: Carlos Hyde Ohio State 6'0" 235 (Ameer Abdullah Nebraska 5'9" 190) RD5: Karlos Williams Florida State 6'1" 226 RD6: James White Wisconsin 5'10" 198 (Ka'Deem Carey Arizona 5'10" 196) RD7: Jay Prosch Auburn 5'11" 253 (FB behind Summers) (Tim Flanders Sam Houston St 5'9" 210) UDFA: Terry Baggett Army 6'1" 200 ~Astro
  17. Moeaki will wear #82, so there goes the slim hopes of bringing back Caussin and Dickerson. [sighs]
  18. DraftTek's latest DraftSim done yesterday, has the Bills taking Khalil Mack in the first round at #10. I still think we'll be drafting at #32, where I'd take Shazier OLB or Gabe Jackson OG.
  19. I take a RB on Day 3 this year. Our scouts will uncover a gem. We're likely looking for an heir to FJAX's throne, and Day 3 big guys right now I like RD5: George Atkinson III - Notre Dame RD5: James Wilder Jr. - Florida State (although I expect him to soar to Day 2 after the bowls and combine) RD5: Tyler Gaffney - Stanford (his downhill running is best in the draft) RD5: Andre Williams - Boston College RD6: Trayion Durham - Kent State (more of a FB) RD6: David Cobb - Minnesota (averaging 5.3 a carry and 10.1 receiving) RD7: Wesley Tate - Vanderbilt
  20. Here is some more info on Petty: http://www.optimumscouting.com/draft/articles/baylor-s-bryce-petty-system-quarterback-or-top-flight-prospect.html on pace for more than 4,400 yards passing this season 15-1 TD to interception ratio Briles’ starting quarterbacks have averaged over 300 yards passing per game and completed over 65 percent of their passes. With those numbers in mind, Petty is performing well above the mean this season by averaging nearly 340 yards passing per contest and completing over 71 percent of his passes….Baylor’s 93rd rated strength of schedule ranks three slots ahead of Louisville’s highly criticized 96th rated strength of schedule (Teddy Bridgewater) QB guy at DraftTek: "Petty is a system QB for Baylor and does not have the arm to complete the deep out in the NFL"
  21. Comments from my QB guy at DraftTek: "he's a different style of QB and has a much higher ceiling. He's an incredible athletic talent, but he receives an enormous amount of help from playing behind elite tackles for two straight seasons, and having a player like Mike Evans, who will win any jump ball and may be the best in the NCAA at coming back for the ball. I think he has more arm talent as a whole than McCarron and Murray, but does not have that elite ability that warrants a first rounder (in my opinion). Plus, his scrambling ability is on another level, but how many plays has he made in college that would end in negative plays in the NFL? Ben Allbright, the best QB guy on twitter, hates Manziel as a talent, but also says that he has a ceiling of Rich Gannon. So if Manziel can develop correctly, that isn't a bad place to be." Johnny Football will polarize early on like RG3 did. Ultimately, he could end up a Top 5 pick. I'm just good with having him hovering around the first round right now.
  22. I asked my QB guy at DraftTek for some commentary. "From a scouting perspective, I like his size/frame and confidence/demeanor. He's got a solid arm. Not special, but more than adequate. I question his accuracy on intermediate to deep routes and he doesn't have overly strong or consistent footwork and he seems to rush his throws quite a bit, which leads to the inaccuracy. When he gets his rhythm, plants and throws, it's usually a very positive result but, like I said, it doesn't always happen that way. In this offense, he isn't asked to make too many "NFL" throws, and it's typically a "get the ball out to the receivers and let them make plays" strategy." I think RD2.
  23. Very good draft. http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Draft-Prospect-Rankings/Top-QBs.asp 1. IF the Bills took a QB in the first round (5% chance IMHO), I'd like them to take a mobile guy, but one who is more effective in the pocket rather than running out of it (in other words, not Tajh Boyd). I'd like a QB that's a leader off the field as well as on it (in other words, not "Man-Zeal"). I'm not a Bridgewater fan (beats up on bad teams week in and week out. Kentucky may have the best defense that he has played against and against them he completed under 60% of his passes, for 250 yards, and 1 TD. Last year, he threw at least one INT in over half of his games. ). That leaves Hundley, Mariota, Mettenberger, and Carr in rounds 1-2 (I like all of them and would jump up and down for Mariota), then Hogan, McCarron, Murray in the mid-rounds (a 30% possibility), and some late-round value in Jeff Mathews (Cornell), James Franklin (Mizzou), Devin Gardner (Michigan), and Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois), likely RD6-7-UDFA (65% probability). 2. They should take TE (Seferian Jenkins), WR (Mike Evans at 6'5" 225), or OG (David Yankey). I wouldn't be upset if it was a NT (Nix, Carrethers, DaQuan Jones) or lockdown CB (although I think he'll be a veteran). 3a. I would definitely take your draft. Maybe late round, I'd take Carlos Hyde as a downfield RB/FB instead. 3b. We're about to do another Big Board here, but yours is pretty close. "Buffalo Bills--The Draft Is All We Got"
  24. If the Bills think Byrd didn't contribute today, they will be wrong. I'd take that trade-down again in 2014, because I think it was the right move in 2013. Would you be happy with whom the computer picked for us here? http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp
