  1. I've taken a look at the contracts at each position and it makes me think our positional needs will be shifting. Do you agree? Contracts up in 2015 OT Eric Pears, Chris Hairston..............................RD1 or RD2, then one more in RD5-7 TE Lee Smith, Moeaki and Caussin....................RD1 or RD2, then one more in RD3-6 WR Hogan, Easley, Kaufman, Barden, Elliott.......RD1 or RD2, then one more in RD3-7 OG Roster is 10 interior guys, 6 are up in 2015..RD3 and UDFA RB Jackson, Spiller, Dixon and Anthony Allen.....RD 3, 4, then UDFA QB Thad Lewis, Dennis Dixon.............................RD 4, 5, 6, 7 FB Summers and Rodriguez................................RD 7 and/or UDFA DE 2 DEs on roster, Mario (’18), Hughes(’15).....RD3 or 4, then one in 7-UDFA S 6 on roster but Searcy is ’15, Leonhard is FA.RD1 or RD2, then one more in RD3-7 DT Bryant is 2015, says Dareus is 2016?............RD6-UDFA CB 7 on roster, starters are ’17, ’17, ’18, ’16.......None LB Roster = 10, starters are ’17, ’17, ’16, Spikes.None ST Moorman and Sanborn are 2015. UDFA
  2. Where does Britt need to go? Arizona. Where will he go? NEP. Sorry. That's my prediction.
  3. Back problem flared up in camp, had minor surgery, back hasn't been a problem since. Chris didn't hit it off with Tice, undeservedly, in Chicago, but thrived at STL. Sez LG a great spot for him, and could do RT without a problem. Says Williams will shore up the left side of our line. Also said he was VP of National Honor Society. Gabriel told Philly's GM Rosenbaum to watch CWilliams in that year's Bears vs Philly game. Handled Bryant, just mauled him. Philly tried to get him in Philly, but Williams opted for closer to home.
  4. Almost. #33 and #35! http://www.drafttek.com/2014-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round2.asp
  5. Mayock is 3rd, Kiper's tied for 27th. http://www.thehuddlereport.com/scoring/mockdrafts.shtml
  6. Got this off Twitter. Lawson's projected as the backup Base 4-3 RDE opposite Mario, and the backup SLB in the same scheme. When they go 3-3-5 pass defense, he's the DE. IMHO Bills will look for a 3-4 or 3-3-5 DE who is also a good DE43 in the draft. To me, that's Kareem Martin RD3 or 4.
  7. I watched 3 Mike Evans games last night and can’t say he’s great. Here is a case where the #3 OT Lewan trumps the #2 WR Evans. I watched 2 Ebron games and an interview, and he tries hard, made a few ESPN-highlight catches, dropped a couple, Renner missed him a few times, has a dynamite over-the-middle route that could be described as a middle screen, and went up high to bring in a couple. Overall, he's above Evans for me. On the simulator if you put Safety as the P1 need, it gives us Clinton-Dix, not Pryor. Hmmmm…. I am ecstatic for two things. One, they signed Spikes, as we needed a thumper ILB to defend the run, and Spikes was #1 ILB against the run last year. Two, they signed Spikes to a ONE year contract. That signals they will be looking in 2 drafts (2014, 2015) and FA for a speedier version of Spikes. I hope I grow to love Dixon. I wanted Andre Williams, Carlos Hyde (RD3), or Terrence West (RD6-7). Now it looks more like West or Wilder in 7-UDFA.
  8. Minuses: short (6'1"). Can't teach height. torn ACL that required surgery in HS, 3 injuries in college slight wind-up slows delivery erratic as a passer and more comfortable outside the pocket like Manziel, rather than in it like Manuel relied more on Watkins, Bryant and Hopkins to bail him out terrible Senior Bowl. 7-of-16 for 31 yards and an interception vs his future defenders. Packers' scout said "based on what I saw, he's not draftable" unspectacular Combine. score of 5.45 (backup) usually means RD5-7 for a running QB, was only the 7th-fastest at Combine Kiper says fifth or sixth round for Tajh Boyd (that was a month ago) Pluses good leader good pro day, made all the throws 66 of 67 (only incompletion a dropped pass), again using great WRs back to back 11-win seasons Looked good in 2012 Chick Fil A Bowl
  9. Almost what I have, and same players; I have Lewan over Martin, then Ebron Add the fact that Mosley has medical issues and isn't the downhill thumper we needed before Spikes signing.
  10. I think you can wait for Tajh Boyd. He's RD6-7 1 9 Buffalo Mike Evans WRF Texas A&M or Taylor Lewan OT Michigan 2 41 Buffalo Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi St or Lamarcus Joyner CB/FS Florida State 3 73 Buffalo C.J. Fiedorowicz TE Iowa or Dakota Dozier OG Furman 4 105 Buffalo Bryan Stork OC Florida State or Boseko Lokombo OLB43 Oregon 5 137 Buffalo Max Bullough ILB Michigan State or Joe Don Duncan TE Dixie State 6 169 Buffalo Tajh Boyd QB Clemson or Terrance West RBF Towson 7 201 Buffalo Antonio Andrews RBF W Kentucky or Ben Gardner DE43 Stanford
  11. Scott Crichton DE43 Oregon State - Pure 4-3 guy, not versatile enough? Antonio Richardson ROT Tennessee - Mount Tiny--Knee concern? Ryan Shazier OLB43 Ohio State - 237 lb., long and lean weakside guy, quick to the edge Gabe Jackson OG MissSt - huge, technical, great agility, quick off snap, CWilliams' competition Kyle Van Noy OLB43 BYU - Better as a 4-3 OLB, could be a less-effective 3-4 OLB Ra'Shede Hageman DE34 Minnesota - versatile, DE34 or DT43, backup for aging KWilliams Trent Murphy DE43 Stanford - physical, instinctive, but predictable; high floor, low ceiling Bishop Sankey RBF Washington - my top RB in the draft, FJax comparisons but deep RB draft Lamarcus Joyner CB/FS Florida State - hybrid CB/S, moves very well and diagnoses quickly Carlos Hyde RBF Ohio State - my #2 RB in the draft; but we just signed similar guy in Dixon Will Clarke DE34 West Virginia - 6'7" 273 good awareness and strength against the run A Seferian-Jenkins TE Washington - Most experience in variety of alignments of all TEs, low YAC Troy Niklas TE Notre Dame - Caught ball further downfield than any TE, good seam, blocks best I anticipate that this will be the Bills choices at #41, and I've bolded four players I think are on the Bills board after their terrific free agency shopping spree. I'd like to know your thoughts. -Astro
  12. The Chris Williams signing by the Bills rates a "B" from Bill Polian's Free Agency tracker. Jairus Byrd's signing rated a B- for the Saints. 2nd Bills FA signing, former #Ravens CB Corey Graham. Leodis McKelvin needs to earn the No. 2 CB job.
  13. Advantages of the Chris Williams signing: former first-round pick Bill Polian had him in his Top 50 Free Agents - ahead of Jairus Byrd Coach Marrone played O line in the NFL and knows talent better then any of us. came from a team that could run the ball once drafted 14th overall solid character turns 29 before next season. Mar 12 won't break the bank: four-year, $13.5 million contract with $5.5 million guaranteed. Rams did want him back believes he can still improve as a player with offensive line coach Pat Morris and Marrone on the staff. has lined up at guard and tackle, so is a safety net at LG and RT in case the draft steers Bills elsewhere started all 16 games in 2013 at LG for the Rams experience, which drafted kid won't have Day1: Thirty-six of his 54 career starts have come at OG with another 18 at OT. This would be his seventh season in NFL. you can wear a Williams jersey and cover 13% of the Bills "Disadvantages": Won't change the draft at all; if their guy is available (in RD3 or RD5 we think), Bills still draft LG graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 74 guard among 81 qualifiers in 2013, and finished 76th in pass blocking (but on a very bad Rams' line) Williams was part of that line that got Bradford killed for the few years. Coach Marrone arms look bigger than his ripped as being pretty bad by the guy covering the Rams for ESPN Not the signing I was hoping for (Jones from Packers at WR)
  14. I didn't read the thread, but Barr is #12 on our Big Board, which we're updating today. Barr's appeal is that, while he's still green, he is versatile as an outside LB in a 3-4 or 4-3 look. That makes me think Pettine will adore him although a team that needs wins now in order to secure their job may find him a 2-3 year project. We have a mock reflecting the Day1 of free agency already (and will be updating late afternoon action as well tonight). The Bills pick in the first round reflects TBD's poll results as well as the Bills sparse signings. -Astro
  15. Ebron in the first or Niklas in the second for me. Niklas stayed in a lot in pass protection and is the best blocker among the TEs, but caught the ball further downfield than any TE in his class. He will end up being the #2 TE over Amaro or AS-J. There are only three RBs I'd pick before RD6, Hyde, Hill, and West at RD4. If I hadn't filled my positional needs at ILB-TE-OG-RT by RD4, I would pass until RD7 or even UDFA and take a flyer on Tyler Gaffney, David Fluellen, Isaiah Crowell, or Lorenzo Taliaferro in that order. Depending on what Schwartz needs for his schemes, I could see DE as an early pick--maybe not RD1-2, but if Kareem Martin drop to our #73 pick, I could see it. Will Clarke RD4 and Brent Urban RD6-7 are two DEs I like later.
  16. I think the only TE choice is Ebron in RD1 or Niklas in RD2. If those don't happen, they're sticking with Gragg-Moeaki-Smith. Murphy keeps saying TE isn't part of the Bills' offensive plan. Hello?
  17. I forgot Britton! Good call! In other news, Branden Albert may be going to the Dolphins as their LT: "Albert instantly would be installed as the left tackle in Miami, succeeding Bryant McKinnie. Who replaced Jonathan Martin. Who replaced Jake Long." source
  18. FART=Free Agent Right Tackle? I do worry about Tiny's knees. They've had to support 340 pounds for a long long time...a First Aid Right Tackle?
  19. YOGRTs--Your OG/RT versatile linemen. Marrone and Whaley have both talked about this kind of player who can step in and play either OG position as well as RT. I think the best examples in Free Agency are Roger Saffold and Geoff Schwartz. The best example of YOGRT in the draft is likely Zack Martin (#48 on our Big Board), although David Yankey (#24 OG, #30 as a RT) also played some YOGRT. Chris Hairston has tweeted that he's 100%, so I don't see the Bills taking Zack Martin or Yankey early in the draft, and Hairston has a chance to be the starter. The Bills YOGRT would be a Day 3 pick. Cyril Richardson RD3 is in free-fall because of his Combine and knees. Bills have expressed interest in John Urschel R6, and UDFA Andrew Norwell has played RT, LT, and OG during his time at Ohio State. How much of a priority is a YOGRT?
  20. I accept the challenge! 1-Taylor Lewan OT Michigan 2-Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi St 3-Jack Mewhort OT Ohio State 4-Ryan Groy OG Wisconsin 5-Brandon Linder OG Miami (FL) 6-Russell Bodine OC North Carolina 7-John Urschel OG Penn State Playoffs!
  21. I, for one, think you should jump! Great Metrics on Roby compared to other CBs shows why you should jump if you play Roby as a CB: http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/46190/349/peshek-cb-metrics-10 I don't want Roby as a CB. I WOULD consider him as a back-end Safety for depth, as I like the way he attacks the catch point. I would not even consider him in RD 1-2, however.
  22. None within Reach parameters set by the computer. Brandin Cooks, Jordan Matthews off the board. Allen Robinson goes off next at #66, 25 picks later. Read this: http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2013/10/28/5022114/eric-ebron-2014-nfl-draft-jaguars It's 300, and PGH's pick 46 is 225. Bills' picks highlighted Depends on how badly PGH wants the best S in the draft.
  23. Detroit will take FS or CB in RD1 at #10. Pittsburgh at #15 wants the same thing. Buffalo trades down to #15 and gets the Steelers' #46, and Steelers take Clinton-Dix. 1 15 Buffalo Eric Ebron TE North Carolina 2 41 Buffalo Shayne Skov ILB Stanford 2 46 Buffalo Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi St 3 73 Buffalo Brandon Coleman WRF Rutgers 4 105 Buffalo Jimmy Garoppolo QB Eastern Illinois 5 137 Buffalo Billy Turner OT North Dakota St 6 169 Buffalo Tim Jackson DT43 North Carolina 7 201 Buffalo Marion Grice RBF Arizona State This report was produced using DraftTek's Draft Simulator: WWW.Drafttek.com.
  24. I like Skov and Borland (and even Bullough) for their value at their respective draft slots more than Mosley at 9. I would love to get a playmaker at 9, not a replacement for Byrd, RT, or OG or Mosley. Mike Evans answered all the questions except one, which he'll answer on his pro day, and that is if he can run a full route tree. I have compared Evans with the top fifteen WRs in this draft, and Evans has caught the highest number and percentage of > 20 yard passes. Watkins padded his stats with screens. Ebron to me would kill two birds with one stone, especially if we see Chandler signed elsewhere. He and Niklas have the skillset for what Hackett wants to do with his TEs. Watch Niklas make a climb in mock drafts. I think he'll catch AS-J and Amaro. We have Ebron at #13 (up 2) on our Big Board and Evans at #18 (up 0). I'm setting a GRAB for Evans for this weekend's Mock Draft. We'll see how it comes out. Thanks to the 206 Bills fans who voted! --Astro
