Downfield blocking for our offense is going to be important. The 5 yard limit on cornerbacks adds blocking to the wish list when searching for a competent wide receiver. Moulds and Evans, and Aiken for that matter, can be seen blocking for each other quite effectively downfield. My guess is we pick up a tough WR adept at blocking, so I did some research into their draft bio's. I starred some.
2nd-3rd Round or Thereabouts:
Fred Gibson - OK blocker
* Reggie Brown - very strong, solid
* Terrence Murphy - strong, sturdy frame...Tough, not a #1 receiver
* Mark Bradley - Explosive, benefited by playing opposite Clayton
Later Picks:
* Vincent Jackson - 6'4", 241 Strong...good hands...Will jump over DBs to make the grab...good punt returner
* Brandon Jones - 6'1", 210 solid build...Has good hands...strong, powerful...very physical...Isn't afraid to block...excellent ST player.
* Craphonso Thorpe - great leaper, can outjump CBs...Tough player who is willing to block. Moving up some value boards.
Last Picks:
* Larry Brackins - Raw (community college)..tremendous leaper...Very strong...amazing natural athlete...decent speed and quickness..physical, willing blocker..Good RAC.
* Roydell Williams - Tulane WR......Tough, very strong...Not afraid to go over the middle for a catch...Has very solid hands.
I don't think we'll be drafting WR in the early rounds, so I was interested in the "Value Receivers" the most. Jackson, Jones, and Williams interest me the most.
Would like your input, both on where you think WR will be drafted, and any info on players.
