I think we need to take a DE. We have only 3 on the roster, and while I like Schobel-Kelsay and even Denney, we need backup from this draft or from June cuts.

OLB Rian Wallace, Temple 3rd I'd really like to replace Posey, I feel he doesn't make many plays and I really like some of the talent coming out. Player that I think could make a great impact is Rian Wallace from Temple, he is a machine and at 6'4" 250 pounds he has the size to play LOLB. A very good pass rusher who may develop into a good every-down LB and push Posey for the starting position on the strong side. CB Corey Webster, LSU. A star as a junior, his stats and production slipped a little this year. Size and ability will probably make him go higher than our first pick, but he might be there at the top half of the 2nd round. CB may not be the biggest need, but if Vincent turn FS full time, our corner back depth for nickel and dime is Thomas and Greer, then nobody....A very good 3rd CB is more important than a back-up S in trying to win now. C/G Ben Wilkerson, LSU Both Wilkerson and [Vince] Carter were Cs through college, but looking at the inside OL listed as of now I would rather have both these guys, than one of them + a G. Shouldn't be impossible to make one or both if needed into Gs, and would give us some quality inside help, and some competition for the starting LG spot. C/G Vince Carter, Oklahoma I like Wilkerson from LSU and Vince Carter of Oklahoma (4.85 40) at C. I'm trying to be realistic as to who else will be available in the 2nd, but so far I think the G from Virginia, Elton Brown and C.J. Brooks from Maryland are possibilities. Pass rusher will have to come from free agency. I don't care if it's a tackle or end, just someone who gets consistent heat on the QB. CB Carlos Rogers, Auburn CB Marlin Jackson, Michigan CB Antonio Perkins, Oklahoma The Bills would do well to snag Perkins in the 2nd round. The kid had a leg injury to deal with this year, but is a very solid CB who could develop into a stud. The Bills need a good 3rd CB now that Vincent is over at FS, and also Perkins would be an excellent insurance policy in case Clements bolts for free agency in 2006. OG Elton Brown, David Baas, Rob Petitti, Marcus Johnson OG Chris Kemoeatu, Utah Chris Kemoeatu of Utah [has] been more impressive than Mayes, plus [he's] big, mean, and nasty, something we need in the interior of our offensive line. OT Adam Terry, Syracuse OT Chris Colmer, NC State I'd love to see the Bills go after an OT since you can never have too much Offensive Line depth. Two guys who I really like are Adam Terry from Syracuse and Chris Colmer from North Carolina State. Terry is an Upstate New York type of guy...was born, raised and played college football here and I'd love to see him suit up for the Bills. As for Colmer, you might remember him since he sat out the 2003 with Parsonage-Turner syndrome which weakened his arm. Its an uber-rare disease but he was cleared to play and apparently has beaten it. Colmer has top 10 talent but will slip into the 2nd round (unless he has a monster combine) because of his disease. I would totally take a shot at him though if we have two 2nd rounders just because his talent level would be leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the 2nd round options. OT Khalif Barnes, Washington This draft would give us truly great depth on the offensive line, while giving the new LT and C time to learn and adjust. WR Chris Henry No wideout in college is a better home-run threat. Averaged 25 yards per on 41 catches and was still learning. Ranked 36th on ESPN's Top 100. K Nugent, Ohio State I seriously think this is our best option, and I guarantee you if we don't take him in the 2nd round, the Jets will take Nugent with their pick after ours and make us pay for years. Nugent is a weapon, and is the best kicking prospect to come out of college in the last decade. Think Jason Elam, Version 2.0. Nugent is one of the most accurate kickers in NCAA history and would already be a top 10 kicker the second he enters the NFL. He knows how to kick in bad weather and is uber-clutch, as he's had many game-winning FG's throughout his career. Plus, the guy can nail 50 yarders with ease and has outstanding character. With Nugent, we win two more games next year then we did this year, just by having such a damn good kicker.

This was an excellent look, especially if you then look at who we could get with our picks in RD#2, 3, and 4. Looking at the quality at Guard-Center, you have to take Baas-Spencer-Wilkerson if they're there in RD#2. Judging from how many we already have on the roster (11), and hopefully our pickup of Shelton and our RD#2 pick, I doubt we go OLine in RD#3. We are thin at DE and could make this or Safety a RD#3 selection (Pollack will be gone then, so it will be the other Canty--Chris (Virginia), Matt Roth (Iowa), Jason Turk (Notre Dame), or possibly the intense Vincent Burns (Kentucky). Impressed with the idea of Goolsby as a #4 or 5 pick at LOLB.

"You'll never know, Trav, How much we loved you, Please don't take our Round Two away..."

Our head coach Mark Mulcahey would never make a mistake like that!

That's why I'm having ham steaks.

There's a place in Penfield (7 minutes from training camp) called Legends Grill, and their feta-stuffed shrimp, wrapped in bacon, on a bed of spinach is my favorite. Not a cheap place, but exquisite food and service, 12 tables and a fireplace.

Draft a guy who is a complement to the ones we already have. Since we have a lightbody already, and we'll be getting rid of TH, we need a banger inside. My best guess is TA McLendon in RD#4. RD#3---JJ Arrington. "As an inside runner, he has great power and is strong in his lower body. He has outstanding balance and is tough to bring down with just arm tackles." RD#4---TA McLendon or (a distant second choice) KayJay Harris if they fall to RD4. Sproles is too much of a "dancer". ... "As a pure running back, McLendon is an outstanding prospect. He has a strong, squatty build and runs low to the ground. He shows excellent run instincts and vision. He finds the hole and hits it quickly, showing an impressive burst. ....is very tough to bring down."

Hey, I'd be doing cartwheels (not a pretty sight, as I'm 230 lbs) if we got Baas-Boley. Usually no OG gets picked in RD1 and teams might have other needs early on that causes Baas to fall. The next tier of Guards is pretty good too.

I had to find an example of a WR that would be there on Day Two who'd be a kick return kind of guy to back up McGee. Charles Frederick, Washington Frederick would be there in RD#6.
-
I DO think we'll take someone in the draft --either a RB, WR or a DB-- that can do kick return duties if McGee gets more work on defense, or if McGee goes down.

What are blurps? Are those the more liquidy burps I have after a night of Gin and Gators?

Your opinion on a strategy to upgrade the Bills OL
Astrobot replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the OT has to be an existing OT or an experienced FA. I'm okay with the OG being a rookie if he wins the competition with our existing OG's. I have to think that Peters would be in the mix for an OG, and in time might make a good pulling guard. -
Wonder if TD would go for two--Spencer in RD#2 and Wilkerson in RD#4, particularly if he gets an extra #3 or 4 pick.

Voluntary Conditioning Program underway
Astrobot replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. We were beaten by a number of teams this past season because their QB and WR were on the same page on the "out" routes to the sidelines--beautifully executed timing routes. I hope Losman and Evans start work on it this week. -

Have we ever had a starting QB and a starting WR in Buffalo at the same time? Seems like they could work on some timing routes. -
...Because that tactice has worked so well so far!

Happy Birthday Mike! CU at Training Camp! Astro -
"Thanks for bringing his name up. I've never heard of him before, don't know who he's played for, what his stats are, or where he went to college. But, this is the offseason. He's a FA Offensive Lineman that's still on the market. TD SIGN THIS GUY OUR OUR SEASON IS RUINED!"

BIlls want Shelton & a pick or swap 2nds
Astrobot replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Scenario 1: Bills and Arizona trade TH for Shelton and second round swap. Bills draft at #44. Most mocks have very few OL at #44, so TD trades down, picking up a 4th Rounder to pick later in RD#2. RD#2 - Alex Smith, TE, Stanford RD#3 - 87.Jason Brown, C, North Carolina RD#4 - Darren Sproles, RB Kansas RD#4 - Chris Kemoeatu, G, Utah RD#5 - Antohny Bryant, DT, Alabama -
I don't care. I'm so disgusted with the whole steroid scandal, especially since it's eating up ESPN coverage of football predraft and March Madness. When you turn on ESPN and it's Barry Bonds, and so you flick over to ESPN2, and it's Barry Bonds, it's time for ESPN3.

That's a thought. Where do you stay in Ocean City? I'm a sandcastle builder. Are there better beaches at Cape May or Ocean City?

Mrs. Astrobot and I are going to Cape May in June and wondered if anyone has stayed at a Bed&Breakfast there. Thanks
