  1. This guy catching for the pitchers in practice is right up there. But take Mike Sweetney for the Knicks. Georgetown player, benchwarmer. Making 2.1 million this year, 2.7 mill the next, and will probably see the front views of opponents once or twice a season for 20 minutes of PT, tops. $105,000 a minute.
  2. Interesting Thoughts. Not only would I like to see how JPL does, I'd like to see how Kelly Holcomb does with a real team. So I guess I'd go for the standard practice of having JP in there a quarter or so, then put KH in. Would we like to see if we have a #3 QB? Probably. I'm leaning toward Woodbury as our #3, as Shane M will be gone after this year. I think we'll see a lot of the RB's Gates, Lee, and Williams in the preseason b/s we're only keeping 2 of those, plus McG and Burns. I don't like Burns but I think we'll keep him unless Lee and, say, Williams light it up in PS.
  3. Us droids love stats. And Us love this thread! It's nice to know the percentages are right for JPL equaling or bettering Drew's 76! --Astrobot
  4. Welcome, #1. As you can see, the Ritalin ran out just after you signed on.
  5. NASCAR is more sport than game, I'll give you that, but it's the cars that are engaging in the sport. The guys (and Danika) are just turning left.
  6. NFL--Vince Lombardi MLB--Jackie Robinson NBA--Jordan NHL--Bobby Orr Tennis--Pete Sampras Golf--Arnold Palmer NASCAR--Not a Sport * * * Track and Field--Jesse Owens Swimming--Mark Spitz
  7. Activity Calculator Here's a good activity calculator. Put in the "athlete's" weight and duration in minutes, and it shows calories burned in those minutes. Tyson 89 seconds=1.5 minutes, weight 250 Boxing in Ring=45 calories
  8. Does anybody actually know how many times this $60K gas guy would have to pump gas for that kind of money?? We just might HAVE a winner there.
  9. Agreed. McCown is probably a joke, too. Must be hard for these writers to think of new stuff to write about. I haven't seen incisive articles in...oh...since late April.
  10. Ooompapamowmow, I thought about the DH first, actually. But a DH's season is longer by at least ten dozen, and his caloric effort (swinging the bat approx. 24 times per game) is higher.
  11. I wonder what position in what sport earns the most money for the least amount of effort. Sort of an ESPY for the Sports Slug. I decided that punters, making, say, $300K, will make $18,750 per game for about 6 plays per game, or about $3,000 a kick. The entire play consumes about 6 seconds, which is about 10 calories consumed. The Colts and the Pats had the punters that did the least work per game this past season. Hunter Smith kicked the ball 54 times all year and Josh Miller kicked it 56 times all year . Smith earned $ 536,800 this year, ~$10,000 a kick for 540 calories consumed, $18.50 a calorie. It gets worse. Josh Miller earned $ 1,663,000 this year, ~$29,600 a kick for 560 calories consumed, $53 a calorie. The Real Question is...Do I need a hobby, or can I wait 3 more weeks? 12. General managers will eye the cap (except for the no-cap season approaching which may prove interesting), and will feel that RB's are more interchangeable than some other positions (QB, MLB, CB). RB Coaches would like smart, compliant, hardy, team-first guys, and if they find that kind of player, they will want to keep them locked up. A Head Coach isn't going to put up with two RB's who perceive their abilities (ahem) disproportionately given the team's offensive philosophy. If Coach wants a between-the-tackles pounder as his feature back rather than a blocking back-go out in the flats back, or a bounce-outside waterspider back, that's who stays.
  13. Actually they will look like a nearby team--the RAIDERS.
  14. FFS, one of your best posts ever.
  15. How is extending Clements going to help our RB situation if McGahee gets hurt? I'd trade that 3rd right now for a running back!
  16. I liked this part: Titans General Manager Floyd Reese told The Tennessean on Wednesday that things with the Bills were "heating up," he was busy preparing for a family wedding today. Bills GM Tom Donahoe is reportedly on vacation. TD gets things done while on the beach, and the victim is strapping on his cumberbund!
  17. I'd give TD a B+ for this offseason, and that's only because it's not over, and because I don't know what they know about the O-line, talks with Verba, our TE injury situation, the readiness of the DT's to replace PW, and our status with Clements and Moulds contracts. That B+ could be as high as an A+ by Game 4!
  18. Looks like we'll have Travis Back: Now ranked #64 in the 2006 Draft: OT Travis Leffew Louisville 6-4 297 5.10 Climbing the board: OT Albert Toeaina Tennessee 6-6 350 4.35
  19. Wow, 10-15 minutes. Just think what could happen if they worked 20 minutes.
  20. Would you want Moulds to be the eventual receivers coach? I see Moulds playing at $4M next year, with an offer that includes moving into coaching with the Bills when he's ready.
  21. His coach tabbed Parrish "the most exciting player I've ever coached." That's good enough for me.
  22. There's a nice feature in that article that lets you input your preferences, and then tells you where you ought to live. Well, I guess I'm off to Hawaii. Sure hope they have a professional team.
  23. It's Travis Henry's fault.
  24. Good Point. LOL! But actually, Posey's Turkability is more likely than Stamer. Stamer's a wild man on ST. And have you seen his neck? It's Spikes-like! Forgot about Jerman playing 2 positions. That's a point for Jerman. I read about this switch somewhere. Camp can't get here soon enough!
