  1. Not going to be there. Vote: http://www.drafttek.com/
  2. http://www.drafttek.com/ This is more interesting than Kiper's mock to me, because fans are voting, and their scenario has both OTs and both WRs gone at 9. Let's hear from you. --Astro
  3. You're fired.
  4. Latimer won't be first round, Niklas may drop into the late 2nd to mid-3rd, and Williams could go in the 3rd, no higher. There will be no RBs in the first round, and only 3 (Sankey, Hyde, Hill, maybe Mason) will be picked in RD2.
  5. We've published all of our guesses here: red checks are ones we got right. http://www.drafttek.com/2013-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp
  6. That would be quite a start. Using all visitors, I'd continue: RD1-RT Matthews RD2-TE Niklas RD3-WR Latimer RD4-RB Andre Williams RD5-S Ahmad Dixon RD7-OG John Urschel
  7. Now, OGs on the other hand... (Ducks)
  8. You asked for it, Jay! Congrats!
  9. Oh, I guarantee that. I'm looking at a board of 1 -- Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina 6'5" 266 DE43 OLB34 0 BIO -- 2 -- Teddy Bridgewater Louisville 6'2" 214 QB BIO -- 3 -- Jake Matthews Texas A&M 6'5" 308 LOT ROT 0 BIO -- 4 -- Sammy Watkins Clemson 6'1" 211 WRF BIO -- 5 -- Greg Robinson Auburn 6'5" 332 LOT ROT 0 BIO VID 6 -- Khalil Mack Buffalo 6'3" 251 OLB43 OLB34 0 BIO -- 7 -- Johnny Manziel Texas A&M 6'0" 207 QB BIO -- 8 -- C.J. Mosley Alabama 6'2" 234 ILB OLB43 0 BIO -- and think, "Who falls?" or "Who above us goes off the board?" Mack? Manziel? Mosley? Or does a guy not listed get taken, like Bortles? Ebron? Lewan? Aaron Donald? Evans? Kony Ealy? That drops the rest to us.
  10. He's intelligent and athletic. I don't see him in many mocks. Like Leon Sandcastle. I still think Evans drops to us, or Matthews drops, or they trade down. No Lewan, no Barr, no Mosley (although he's still being mocked to us pretty often)
  11. I wanted to try a "WTF" Mock for the Bills, picking some players out in left field at first glance, but giving reasons why that pick just might happen. OK, so I didn't want to make dinner. RD1 9 Aaron Donald, Pittsburgh DT - We have him going at #15 this week in our mock, but when Schwartz came to both Detroit and Tennessee he took a dominating DT early...three times. Plus Kyle isn't getting younger, plus Donald's rush efficiency in pressures/ sacks is double the next-highest guy. RD2 41 Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt WR - Standing at 6'3 205 lbs, Matthews is the SEC All-Time leading receiver in receptions (262) and receiving yards (3759). He's the big physical target that E.J. will look to on critical 3rd downs and red zone situations. RD3 73 Carlos Hyde, Ohio State RB - Guess which RB is going to be a free agent next year. Both of our starters. Hyde blocks well, runs between tackles, and is an Excedrin headache for the tackler. RD4 109 Kareem Martin, N Carolina DE - One of the more versatile DEs in the draft. If he’s in a Wide-9 and you have to take him on 1:1, you’ve already lost. Martin has the frame you can’t teach 6’6” and 265 lb., with impressive length and musculature. Martin’s hands and arms prevent blockers from fully engaging. He’s a bullrusher when you want him to be and he sets the edge well. RD5 149 Joe Don Duncan, Dixie State TE - A TE with WR like stats. --how many TE's catch 71 balls for 1045 yds and 13 TD's? Also, 35 reps in the Bench Press, beating the next highest TE by 7 reps. His specialty is highpointing passes. RD7 224 Laurent Duvernay-Tardif OT - WTF? A med student from Canada, eh? Bills just had him in, and he blew up the Combine numbers.
  12. For a bowling ball, he's easy to trip up, that's the only thing. Could work on it. He's also got a little SpillerWiggle in him--for a guy of his weight, he should just be plowing forward. That's why I like Andre Williams more. But West would be available later. link?
  13. My notes from lots of sources on West: excellent lateral quickness, balance and vision. Has value as a pass catcher too. thicker ball carrier 2,509 yards and scored 42 total touchdowns this season Towson coach Rob Ambrose Broke FCS record and led Tigers to national title game received 3rd round draft grade should vie with North Dakota State offensive tackle Billy Turner and Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to be the first FCS player taken in the 2014 draft. 4,854 yards in his three seasons at Towson, including 84 touchdowns. lacks elite speed, but he has been clocked as fast as 4.5 seconds in the 4 patience and good vision quick feet tough, powerful downhill runner who is right at home working between the tackles. workhorse, averaging 260 carries per season in his college career (21.7 per game) didn’t score high enough on the SATs to qualify for Clemson/Maryland Started for all three seasons at Towson, setting FCS records for rushing yards and touchdowns. Makes nice cuts once he sees the hole open, not fast but has a bit of explosiveness. Doesn’t seek out unnecessary contact but can lower the shoulder for extra yardage. Uses the stiff-arm often and effectively to create separation from would-be tacklers. Exhibits more wiggle than might be expected from a top-heavy runner; nice jump-cuts. Also developed as a receiving option as a junior, dramatically improving catch totals. Was able to stay healthy long enough to touch the ball nearly 450 times as a junior. Some tread wear (26 carriers per game his last year) Will be making a steep jump in level of competition after playing at an FCS program. Build’s pretty uneven, looks big in the upper body but his legs are comparatively thin. Certainly not someone who’s going to be able to run away from NFL defenders easily. Must do a better job of running behind his pads with consistency to maximize his bulk. Too finesse for someone so thick, also not as effective in short-yardage as expected. Doesn’t run with great balance, can be tripped by arm tackles too often for a big guy. Wasn’t retained too often in pass protection; probably a two-down back in the pros.
  14. I've added 3 more players, Matthews, Duvernay-Tardif, and Terrence West to the original post. -Astro
  15. I'd throw the Jags into the mix as they are trying to shop that #3 pick.
  16. He's a 7-UDFA OG. This tells you that Bills are finalizing their first run at their board and are even looking at 7-UDFA's. It should also say that we're likely to draft another OG earlier, because 7-UDFA is late for them to address it, and Chris Williams may compete, but OG is in their first 4 rounds to me.
  17. +1 The signing of a DE today makes this even more of a slam-dunk in RD2. I reduced our positional need for a DE to P3, and Bills move closer to drafting OL, Playmaker, Playmaker with the first 3 picks.
  18. Best names in the upcoming draft (who are not Top 100), surely to be taken earlier by Bills than they should: Lache Seastrunk - I will personally get his jersey if we land him. Exciting RB to watch. Rob Blanchflower Prince Shembo Xavier Grimble Boseko Lokombo - Redshirt senior who replaced Kiko Alonso, producing an Alonso-Lokombo Combo
  19. I would be so disappointed if that was the Bills' first pick. Ealy is not an option at 9. Further down, in tandem with a PLAYMAKER for the offense or protection so EJ can use his existing playmakers, then I won't jump off the ledge.
  20. Hyde's the real deal. As RB Analyst at DraftTek I watch for several extra things on each prospect: How is his vision? Where are his eyes before the snap, at the snap, at the exchange, in the hole? Does he dance in the backfield? Or does he shy away from contact? How's their zero to sixty? Do they use patience (a flaw of Spiller's BTW), then explosion? Is their quickness one of their best assets? Speed is fine but darting quicks, jump-cuts, jukes etc. rule. Are they a willing and aware pass blocker? Can they cross sides to block? Where/how do they hit the rusher? Can he block downfield after a fake handoff, or does he just stop and look where the ball is? Are his pads square? Are they under their pads? How's balance? Can he squeak through small creases? Can he make defenders miss? Can he break tackles, especially arm tackles? Is what I'm seeing the work of the RB or the OL? Are the defenders hesitating? Is the RB making this happen? How's 2nd gear: Is there increased separation between RB and defender when there RB gets an opening? How is ball security? How is he holding and transferring the ball? What happens right before contact? Does he lower his pads/helmet to punish the defender, or shy away from contact? Does he minimize his surface area to mitigate the impact on him? How's the wear on his tires? e.g., Terrence West carried the ball 413 times, Devonta Freeman 144 times. They have similar receiving abilities, but I'd go with Freeman. Grice, Storm Johnson, and Wilder also have low tread wear. Is he in there on 3rd down, or do they take him out? Can he block? Chip? swing out and catch the ball? Turn upfield quick upon catch? Do they run a decent angle route vs a linebacker? What else do they do? Are they a return man? Can they pass? Are they on special teams? Hands crew for onside kicks? I'm in the Sankey-Hyde camp. None of the others should be taken in RD2. Jeremy Hill, Mason, AWilliams, and Seastrunk will go in the Top 100 picks.
  21. I disagree about RT in RD2. Hairston's healthy and he was a very good RT before his injury. DE makes some sense as there are only 2 on roster. If we take FS I will kill myself; we need 2 playmakers from the first 3 picks or we're going nowhere. Exactly. In 2015 and you don't have Spiller or Jackson on this team you'll be glad you drafted Hyde and Seastrunk, or Sankey and Hill, or whatever combination, in what was supposed to be a "bad draft for RBs" or "the league is a passing league". In late November or December, especially.
  22. Are you talking about 2012 Barr or 2013 Barr? Loved what I saw from Barr on a great line in 2012, but Ealy swallowed him whole in 2013. As new to the position as Barr was, and given the raw skillset Barr has, I thought we would see a little more than we did in 2013. Remember Ansah, though. Josh Norris and Dane Brugler still have Barr going in the first round. I think he'll end up going late in the first or by mid-2nd, when risk-reward starts playing a factor, and Barr will be selected by #46. Barr will go as early as the Cowboys at #16 or else freefall to #40 (Vikings), #41 (Bills) #42 (Titans), #45 (Lions), or #46 (Steelers).
  23. I'm making my picks a month away. The closer we get to the fire, the more the smokescreens cloud one's vision! For each round, I've added a value pick (BPA left at that pick), one that makes too much sense, one pick made looking carefully at the roster, and a just say NO pick. 1 9 Buffalo Eric Ebron TE North Carolina – Top need is tall red-zone playmaker. Check. value: Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M – If a QB like Manziel or Bortles slides, consider. sense: C.J. Mosley ILB Alabama – Long-term solution but he’s more Alonso than Spikes sense: Anthony Barr DE43 UCLA –Bills won’t use RD1 on D, but Schwartz wants Wide-9DEs roster: Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix FS – Waste of a top 10 pick, but you lost a Pro Bowler at S say-no:Taylor Lewan LOT Michigan – sliding Cordy to RT/ LG not justified, Lewan a RD3 RT 2 41 Buffalo David Yankey OG Stanford 2nd need is LG. Check. value: Yankey. sense: Zack Martin OG Notre – If Yankey wasn’t there at 41, Martin can play OG/RT roster: Shayne Skov ILB Stanford – Skov is more like Spikes than Alonso, pairs perfectly say-no: Morgan Moses LOT Virginia – More likely LT/RG than RT/LG 3 73 Buffalo Carlos Hyde RBF Ohio State value: Richardson WRF Colorado / Moncrief WRF - Both falling to 73 is amazing sense: Hyde. FJax’s contract is up in 2015, and he’d be the thunder to Spiller’s lightning roster: Brandon Thomas OG Clemson – If you go elsewhere in RD2 then OG here is best bet say-no: Yawin Smallwood ILB Connecticut – a reach here, 2nd LB not as vital in this defense 4 109 Buffalo Michael Sam DE43 Missouri – Falls due to coming out as gay but a fiery team guy value: Anthony Johnson DT43 LSU – Fewer teams need DT43 this year, so he drops a round sense: Zach Mettenberger QB LSU – Same build as EJ, less mobile, mechanics > than ‘12 roster: Joel Bitonio ROT Nevada – A great choice if RT isn’t filled earlier (or by Hairston) say-no: De'Anthony Thomas RBC – Has ST/ WRS/ ATH potential but has no true position 5 149 Buffalo Michael Schofield ROT Michigan –RT compet. fopr Hairston or 2nd DE43. value: Lache Seastrunk RBF Baylor – Still need 2015 replacement for Spiller even if you take Hyde sense: Ross Cockrell CB Duke – Bills have been bringing in d-backfield, Cockrell included roster: Cody Latimer WRF Indiana – Even though 12 WRs are on roster, depth left says take 1 say-no: Tyler Larsen OC Utah State – Eric Wood has no backup or heir, but use OG on roster 7 224 Buffalo Cassius Marsh DE43 UCLA – Only 2 DE43’s on roster, Sam and Marsh are depth value: Colt Lyerla TE Oregon – risk-reward is huge here, but by far the greatest value at 224 sense: Devonta Freeman RBC Florida State – best blitz pickup in the draft, decent receiver roster: Nickoe Whitley FS Mississippi –would likely be there in UDFA say-no: Marquis Spruill OLB43 Syracuse – Marrone knows him, backup to Rivers, but a big reach
  24. Let's say CLE takes Watkins at 4, and Carr (or Bridgewater) fall to #9--not an unplanned scenario for the Bills IMHO. Bills do your trade, According to this trade chart, highlighting CLE's picks, CLE gets our 9 [1350 pts] and we get CLE's RD1#26 [700 pts] RD2#35 [550] RD4#106 [ 82]. The points work out, by the way, very nicely. Here's the Mock of this. CLE is ecstatic and Bills are happy. 1 4 Cleveland Sammy Watkins WRF Clemson 1 9 Cleveland Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville ------------ 1 26 Buffalo Zack Martin OG/OT Notre Dame............(in for visit) 1 35 Buffalo Scott Crichton DE43 Oregon State .......(in for visit) 2 41 Buffalo Troy Niklas TE Notre Dame...................(in for visit) 3 73 Buffalo Lache Seastrunk RB Baylor...................(in for visit) 4 106 Buffalo Chris Smith DE43 Arkansas 4 109 Buffalo Jeremy Hill RBF LSU. .........................(in for visit) 5 149 Buffalo Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor......................(in for a visit) 6 185 Buffalo (Traded) 7 224 Buffalo Ross Cockrell CB Duke......................(in for visit) This report was produced with Draft Tek's Draft Simulator: WWW.Drafttek.com.
