Rams Fans think they are getting Ngata
Astrobot replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't realize that connection, Jokeman! Great point. Bill Kollar, our new D-Line coach, coached Pickett, so he'd know what he has in relation to Ngata. Pickett has had 4 healthy years, would be entering his 6th year in the league, has worked as a nose guard but has the weight and speed to be a penetrator as well as a "block-u-pyer". Would make sense. We'll see in March of Kollar's respect for Pickett. -

I'd look pretty good with Walter Jones next to me. Well, at least smaller. -

Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 1
Astrobot replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It won't be the first time that Levy has screwed the 49'ers. Walsh wanted Bill Kenney as his quarterback. Levy traded up to snag him. Walsh had to settle for a guy named Joe Montana in RD#3. -
I haven't seen evidence that Preston can't do the job at OC. Ralph won't be paying $6M per year for a center. Would he?

Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 1
Astrobot replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huff and Ngata would be great enhancements to the Bills' D; lots will depend on FA and combine results--not only these players but other players (such as Jay Cutler's) who might change teams' first picks. This might mean Vince Young not benig picked, or DaBrick falling to us, etc. etc. I can't see giving up on TE Everett before he plays at all in a regular season game, so I doubt Vernon Davis, as good as he is, will be our pick. I like the scenario of us picking up local guy from Syracuse, but wouldn't complain if we took both Huff at this point and Smith later--recall from his book that Levy took 2 DB'ers in his first draft with the Chiefs. -
Here's Who They Took: Houston Texans - Reggie Bush/HB/USC New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart/QB/USC Tennessee Titans - Vince Young/QB/Texas New York Jets - Jay Cutler/QB/Vanderbilt Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk/OLB/Ohio St. Oakland Raiders* - Mario Williams/DE/NC St. San Francisco 49ers* - D’Brickashaw Ferguson/OT/Virginia Bills, you're on the clock. This assumes no big names were brought in at FA time.

Anyone watch Minnesota - of the Big 10?
Astrobot replied to LaDairis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just confirming that he's not on the list of invitees for the combine. If he's a penetrator, he'll find a way to get in through the fence. -

Iron City being pitched as Premium Beer?

We just called it Arn. The Sh-- was silent. -
I'd agree. Trade down especially if DaBrick, Ngata and Mario are gone. Get FA help at OT, get Washington or Pickett, then you can trade down a bit, get DE Tamba Hali--the next Dwight Freeney but better, and get OG Jean-Gilles in RD#2.

Oh, what I'd give for a 300 yard game from JPL or KH...

Losman, behind a less porous line. I'd make the decision early in camp, though, because I'd rather have Losman getting the snaps, working on his confidence, and getting the line used to him.

Top 10 available after the "Big 6" are gone

Actually, we've had several TE's on the sideline. -
I'm betting McNeil won't last to our 2nd. I'm adding your picks to our Value Board:TSW Draft Board Astro

Top 10 available after the "Big 6" are gone
Astrobot replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With our first pick, I'd like to see us take DT, not OT, because I'd rather the OT starters have NFL experience. Therefore I'd be bitter if we took anyone with the word "Winston" in their name with our #8. If Ngata is not there --which could easily happen--it frees up one of several guys that could help us this year. None of these (with the possible exception of DaBrick) will be O-Line help. I'm pretty sure ML and DJ aren't going to start a rookie at OT. Watch for a FA signing --or 2-- on the O-line, at least one of whom would start. -
I'll take: (1) Vince Young QB Texas -- Why is he still on the board? (2) Jonathan Scott OT Texas -- Liked him in Senior Bowl (3) Dominique Byrd, TE USC -- Can't believe he's there... (3) Andrew Whitworth, OT from LSU -- Can't disagree there! (4) Fred Matua OG USC -- 3 years on the USC line (5) Montavious Stanley DT Louisville -- Animal (6) Todd Watkins WR BYU---The Big Receiver we lack (7) Matt Bernstein FB Wisconsin --- Red Zone blocker, 266 lb.

Charlie Coiner to be named TE's coach?
Astrobot replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Charlie Coiner Charlie Coiner is his fifth season as a member of the Bears coaching staff and second as assistant special teams coach. He originally joined the team on February 12, 2001, as the offensive quality control coach following one season as the offensive coordinator at Texas Southern (2000). In his current role, Coiner assists special teams coordinator Dave Toub in preparing the game plan, breaking down film and organizing practice drills. During his first three seasons with the Bears, Coiner assisted the offensive coaching staff with a variety of weekly tasks, including preparation of the game plan, breaking down film, running the scout team and working after practice with quarterback Rex Grossman during his rookie season. Coiner served as the special teams coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU in 1999 and was linebackers coach at Tenn.-Chattanooga in 1998. Prior to his stint at UTC, Coiner was a tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Louisville (1995-97). -
Is Brad Smith a WR or a QB? The Brad Smith I know was Mizzou's QB.

Just for bbh's edification, I _was_ kidding. When you've been here awhile, you'll learn we are a community, and every community has some inside jokes. The Bills will pick the best player available, regardless of race, at #8. We also don't like shouting (CAPS LOCK on).

Very Interesting Scenario. You wonder if that happened whether we would trade up to guarantee us DaBrick, or (if we missed on Ngata and Brick) even trade our #8 for some more picks.
