They did a urine sample, and it was purple pee...

I love it. If we got Ngata, Scott, Allen, and Havner I'd be ecstatic.

7-Round Draft Here's what this guy had us taking: 1-Haloti Ngata DT Oregon 2-Jonathon Scott OT Texas 3-Jason Allen S Tennessee 3-Spencer Havner LB UCLA (he goofed here--would have been ours) 4-Charlie Whitehurst QB Clemson 5-Dee Webb CB Florida 6-Charles Gordon CB Kansas St. 7-Gerald Riggs RB Tennessee I liked these picks, except for the Dee Webb pick. He's a "no-character" guy, and a no-thanks even this late. I'll take our Corners plus Charles Gordon. At RD5 I'd have taken Marvin Phillip OC Cal, Rob Sims OG Ohio St. or Julian Jenkins DE Stanford. Some of you may not have heard about Havner. He was a finalist for the Butkus Award two straight years, had 303 tackles in 3 years as a starter, and ranked second nationally in solo tackles (7.64) and seventh (tied) in total tackles (11.36) per game. He'd be a steal in Round 3B. I also like the late Gerald Riggs pick. He's a lot like McGahee in that he possesses power and speed. Nickname on the team is Seabiscuit because he, like Willis, is coming off an injury. His coach thinks he's better than Robert Edwards or Olandis Gary.

I hear the Chargers like him. At Pick 19.
-
He does have the name problem. Spikes is a better last name, I think. Posey's the worst we got.

Click on Saturday's Cutdown Summary of Video: They were all over Mangold like a cheap suit. Loved the guy. "Best Center in years". He was fast, articulate. Longhair. Wavy-armed walk looks funny. DaBrick won't be a disappointment--too good a work ethic, they said. Mentioned the inconsistency of Top-5 O-Line picks in the last several years--yes, MW was listed. Jason Spitz, OG Louisville has had 3 injuries in the past, but showed excellent ability to get to the 2nd level. He could play G or C, and would be a deal early 2nd day. Davin Joseph ran a 5.06 forty. Probably the #3 inside lineman, they said. Matua was a value late in the 3rd round. Jean-Gilles had a great vertical leap for a fat 355 lb OG. He was also "nimble" on the cone drills. Jonathan Scott (Texas) looked quick. Joe Toledo was stronger than I thought. They praised Colledge's technician ability and his speed (4.99). Michael Montgomery was a DT/DE who might end up playing RT at pro level. He was great in the cones drill, #1 in benchpress in his flight, and scored much faster than last year's average in the shuttle. He'll fall down the boards because of switching positions, but could be a 3rd round project. Charles Spencer #4 inside guy on their list, showed great foot movement in the 1 on 1 drill, and came up #3 on the bench press. They didn't like what they saw on McNeil on tape (too much bend at the waist in his block), but he's athletic. They liked LSU's Whitworth for his longevity (started 52 straight games at LT), but felt he would switch to RT in the pros. A guy I liked for his effort was Michael Toudouze, OT at TCU. Worth a 2nd Day pick, IMHO. The other Day 2 guy was ECU's Guy Whimper, also at 4.99. He's listed at GBN as #12 OT, and Toudouze was #15. Whimper is raw, but big and fast. He'd be a PS guy.

Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 3B
Astrobot replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thinking of voting for Parham, as we want an heir-apparent for Fletcher, entering his 9th year. I think, however, we'd want experienced LB's in the middle (FA, Haggan, Crowell, Stamer, Ezekiel) with Spikes outside with Posey (or Crowell). Then I thought that we'd need DE help, and Tapp would be that man.But I think that merely adding defensive pressure up the middle with Ngata-Adams will make Schobel and Kelsay (and the LB's) better. It's time to add a RB to compete with Shaud. -
All of these picks could be traded. Miami wants in to ensure themselves a QB. They are at 16 right now. If Cutler has a good combine, he won't be there at 16. Cardinals could take him at #10, Lions at #9. They need to trade with someone before that (probably not #8 Bills in the AFC East). That makes the 49'ers at #7 the logical partner, and they need picks more than anyone. The Dolphins take Cutler at #7, and we have a choice of Michael Huff, Mario Williams, JimmyWilliams, or Haloti Ngata (whichever of these the Raiders don't pick). A delightful scenario.

Brodie Croyle – QB - Alabama Measured in at 6'2 1/3, 205. He has met with the Chiefs, Jets, Bills, Broncos and Dolphins. Source This is the only mention of the Bills interviewing anyone on 3 draft sites I checked. Croyle would be a RD#3 pick, the 6th-rated QB, and ranked about #78 in Draft Showcase's Top 100. Astro

Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 3a

A wise choice, Scribo. In the mock that I'm using for this game, Latui was taken with the very next pick after our #3A pick! But another one had him falling all the way to the Chargers, 11 picks after our 3B pick. But take no chances...He's a good value even for a 3A. Astro -
Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 3B

Actually, Tapp is larger than Haralson, 268 lbs. vs. 248. Haralson's forte is speed. He and Manny Lawson (who's smaller yet) lead the rated DE's in 40 time. Haralson would be a great DE/OLB in a 3-4. Source -

Dumervil Height: 6-0 | Weight: 256 | 40-Time: 4.70 Jeff Posey: 4.8 at combine It'd be great to have that "boo-ing" sound whenever Doom made a sack. I miss that. So far it's Eslinger, followed by Tapp. TAPP: Pros:One of the top rated pure pass rushers of the draft, makes up for his lack of size with his athletic ability: 4.68 40 - 415 bench- 660 squat- 340 power clean, uses his ability and size to expose slow footed OTs, leader on the field with a nonstop motor that his teammates feed off of Cons:Has bulked up over the spring but is still undersized for a defensive lineman, At 6'1 268 he is the exact same size as Dwight Freeny but does not appear to have level of abilities just yet DE's Ranked -
If only it turned out this way... Round 1: DT Ngata, the best DT in the draft Round 2: OT Winston Round 3a: OG Lutui Round 3b: ? I've included their rank at their position on OTC Draft Site. OTC Draft

The Pollard choice is interesting, too. In 2 years, Baker-Pollard would be an "equal sequel" to Milloy-Vincent, IMHO. -

Thanks, everybody! I'm moving Latui and Darryl Tapp up on the TSW Draft Board. The link below isn't for 28.8 modems, but has pictures and links on those folks you've been mentioning. TSW Draft Board 2006 Astro -

Chiefs, to replace Will Shields a year or two from now! Roaf's no spring chicken either, and they'll need line help soon.

Astro's 3rd Annual Draft Game, ROUND 2

I don't like Eric Winston either, but would take Winston Justice and would have taken McNeill with this pick. I don't know enough about Tapp, but as Draft Droid I must... Kind of leaning to trade down here, and pick up 4 players--2 from this pick, and the 2 in RD#3. I'm thinking 2 O-Line, a Safety, and a DE. Astro -
It's Official....Bills Release OT Mike Williams!
