2.4 years. Next question.
-
It was a new football term to me. I thought it was going to be dirty. While investigating BGIM's 5th Round pick on his Signature line (hey, I'm a robot--I do this stuff all the time--even while you sleep), it said that Derek Morris OT had 4 "Raleigh Rails" in one game. Source After some train references (all derailments), I found this: "One area where [NC State sophomore guard] Harris has excelled is as a conductor of the "Raleigh Rail." A phrase coined by offensive line coach Mike Barry, the rail is when an offensive lineman drives the defender more than five yards past the line of scrimmage." Source Now you know. Astrobot

8th Overall PROBABLY not a DT or OT
Astrobot replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Levy says: "Schemes don't win football games. Players win football games". Marv is looking for the player who'll help us at #8, or the trade that will help us land him. We're into the countdown now. Start ceasing to believe all you read. Including mine. -
I'm assuming A.J. Hawk is not available.

How many years til the Bills are good
Astrobot replied to BoondckCL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I, too, am optimistic. I'll say 2006-07 as well. I think we'll have a very strong draft class, because the draft is strong in the areas we need help in. It'll be an "even"-tempered club, thanks to Jauron at the helm, and more experienced at game adjustment. The "D" will rebound, and will profit from our draft picks at the DT position, where a newbie can help right away. With some time to jell, the "O"-Line will help our QB go through his progressions, and twin deep threats will make Willis look better. I agree about Special Teams being a game-changing force. -

I dunno where to look this up, but we'll be fielding one of the younger squads this year. -

Holcomb, Moulds, Villarial, Vincent will be gone. They are our only current double-digit veterans. The next tier of veterans? Spikes, Posey, Fletcher, all with 9 years (I guess I never realized that before now). They'll see us get to the playoffs. Them and Shelton. -

Levy's making this a younger club by the minute (Edwards today, Moulds tomorrow). So I say all of them. -
Hawk could very well be our choice if Green Bay takes Ngata. We'd end up taking their projected choice.

Better Value for Moulds: TO or 4th round pick
Astrobot replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
4th Round Offensive Guys With Good Attitudes I'd rather have as a Bill: QB Drew Olson RB Jerious Norwood FB's Matt Berenstein or Lawrence Vickers WR Jovon Bouknight or Greg Lee TE Joe Klopfenstein OT Ryan O'Callaghan or Paul McQuistan OG Fred Matua or Chris Kuper OC Greg Eslinger -
I agree with you. Most QB's required 2-3 years in the driver's seat before they were competent. And JP hasn't had the time, the coaching, the line, or the continuity to receive an accurate assessment of his abilities. Even an assessment by the most practiced of fans.
-
All We Need. Is for Green Bay to say Nada to Ngata, allowing us to pick him up. We don't seem to have a backup plan if Ngata goes earlier than expected, because the other Gap Gummer DT's have issues.
-
Could this be the DT we need?
Astrobot replied to HtownBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McCargo is seen more as the Larry Tripplett type, the quick penetrator rather than the behemoth DT that gums up the gap. While I'd certainly take McCargo in the top of the 3rd, I think we're still looking for The Gap Gummer. -
CDS Underappreciated Team The CDS All-Underappreciated team is put together each summer in order to honor NCAA and/or NAIA football players regardless of division level whose play on the field exceeds the level of recognition the player has received nationally to date, and/or whose pro potential exceeds the common expectations currently abroad in the nation with regard to that player. Notables: WR Huggins: 7th Round, 84 catches for 1,313 yards, 13 TDs, (15.6 ypc) TE Davis: 6th Round, 6'6", to play pitch and catch with in the endzone. OG Kyle Young, 7th Round, 6'4", 320, Fresno State, All-American at Center OG Troy Reddick 7th Round 6'4.5", 329, Auburn, McNeil's teammate

Actually, your "toss-bag" is down undah.
-
Some additional information about Ngata you may not know: (1) His full name: Etuini Haloti Moala Ngata ("NOT-ah"). (2) Defensive line coach Steve Greatwood called him "the most intelligent athlete I've ever coached". (3) Has been clocked at 4.84 in the 40-yard dash. (4) Loves to be in on the kick blocking team. (5) Ngata was a supreme rugby player, and a very fine wrestler in high school. (6) Power Clean: 385, Bench Press: 485, Squat: 585. (7) Quickness has been compared to Randy White and Joe Klecko only much, much bigger, but just as quick.

Compensitory picks decided this week
Astrobot replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BGIM, you've already updated your draft based on the 7th??~!!?!? You're fast! And except for the DT, I like your picks! -
'Twould also net us a late 3rd or early 4th Rounder to trade down. I'd do it.
-
I'll leave the End Zone Crew to do that.
-
Dvoracek may not fit into Marv's character ethic. In fact, I can find fault with virtually every DT rookie. I think it's an argument for a VERY early pick in the draft, AND still a FA (or released) DT coming here.
-
Further evidence we're trading down and picking OLB Ernie Sims.
-
Not only is there a Taitusi Latui, the TSW voted him #2 in Round #2 in my 3rd Annual Draft Game. Draft Game I don't like the majority choice of Winston, but "Deuce" Latui will make a great guard.

Here's a picture of Peko leaping. Looks pretty trim! Peko Leapo

I had to go do some research on that Peko guy. He's a Samoan with free-flowing hair (no word on which shampoo yet). Here's an article that sounds like he's a fast tub: "It's hard to decide what was more impressive. Was it when Domata Peko, Michigan State's 320-pound defensive tackle, managed to scoop up a fumble and race 74 yards down the sideline? Or was it that Peko, a Samoan with the distinctive, free-flowing hair, was able to hurdle the Wolverines' RB Mike Hart to reach the end zone on a play that -- after the extra point -- tied the score at 31. "
