Is it worth it to trade Clements
Astrobot replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most mocks have a lot of CB's drafted early, so to get a good CB this year, you'll need to spend a 1st or at least a 2nd on one. No thanks. -
Don't try to go to The Bills Site right now. They're launching a new website. I don't think it's run from 1 Bills Drive anyways. Anyone know where it's run from?
-
I'm thinking that Huff and Davis won't be there at 8, and our choice is either Ngata, Bunkley, or Justice. Any thoughts? 1. Houston---Reggie Bush 2. New Orleans----D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Mario Williams, Leinart, Ferguson) 3. Tennessee----Matt Leinart (Ferguson, Mario Williams) 4. New York Jets----Mario Williams (Mario Williams, Ferguson) 5. Green Bay----A.J. Hawk (Vernon Davis, Huff) 6. San Francisco----Vernon Davis (Huff) 7. Oakland----Vince Young 8. Buffalo Haloti Ngata-Bunkley (Winston Justice, Huff)

You're right. exactly the same number of mock drafts say Cleveland will pick Ngata and Bunkley. Cleveland may go with Ngata because the name is cheaper to put on a jersey.

Trey Teague Signs With Jets
Astrobot replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like we take a bullrusher at DT. -
By draft day, I wouldn't be surprised to see both at the 11-spot in a dead heat. Young is falling from the 7 pick on those charts, and very well could be there 17 days from now at our 8-spot, in which case you could trade down. Cleveland would like Ngata at 12, so trade with St.Louis for the #11 pick. The trade-down from 8 to 11 nets a 3rd Rounder.

Not true. Ngata's Trendline at Pick 8 Bunkley's Trendline at Pick 13

We could get the Best at 3 Positions
Astrobot replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Packers could; they have similar needs in the same positions. And they draft before we do. Watch their picks carefully; ML will be. -
Okay, I'll play. 8. Buffalo Michael Huff, S Texas 42. Buffalo Darryl Tapp, DE Virginia Tech 70. Buffalo (from TEN) Ryan O'Callaghan, T California 73. Buffalo Claude Wroten, DT LSU 105. Buffalo Fred Matua, G USC OR 8. Buffalo Michael Huff, S Texas 42. Buffalo Darryl Tapp, DE Virginia Tech 70. Buffalo (from TEN) Trade Down for extra 3rd 73. Buffalo Claude Wroten, DT LSU 105. Buffalo Guy Whimper, T East Carolina 107. Buffalo Fred Matua, G USC

Plus, I wouldn't be a good agent if I didn't call Buffalo back after finding out the Lions' offer.

Yeah, but 3-poster watched them both for 4 years and Goldsberry is the better package. -
We need to draft this stud in the 7th round
Astrobot replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you don't like draft crepes or doomsday stories about the Bills, check back around June 2. I love draft crepes. -
Who would you be terribly disappointed to see at 8
Astrobot replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NO: Any DE except for Mario Williams. Just say no to Kamerion Wimbley or Manny Lawson. Any WR in the first round. No Shrimptonio Holmes. A RB under 218 pounds. I will board the LenDale train, however. -
Ngata Visit: The Bills have a pre-draft visit setup with Oregon defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Many people project Ngata going to the Bills at number 8. Recent thoughts however suggest he is not the type of tackle the Bills need in the one gap defense they play. They like smalller, quicker tackles then the 340 pound Ngata. The fact that they are visiting with him shows they are at least keeping their options open. (Billsdaily)

I still think I'll TIVO it and watch the good parts in about 10 minutes!

I like the idea, and it's a feel-good story: PP is hungry, and returns to the place where he had his greatest success. It's like Gibson. He'll have something to prove, and Levy likes that type.

The Peerless and Davis signings make me re-think the draft. While I'd prefer a guy like Baskett, Nance, or Aromashodu in the mid-rounds to give us a young, tall receiver for the Red Zone, these signings indicate it ain't gonna happen. Clements non-signing also changes the context of this draft, now 19 days away. Here is my revised list of 11 priorities: OT, DT, OG, S, CB, FB/RB, DE, MLB, OLB, TE, KR I keep switching the first two, but list OT first because our offense has sucqued longer than our #2-a-year-ago defense, and because DT is deeper in this draft (at least guys we like still are around through the 3rd Round). A key team to watch throughout the draft will be the Packers, because of similar team needs. Drafting before us in each round, they get to play spoiler (like we were to them in taking Losman!). In Round 1, will they take Ngata, AJ Hawk or Mario Williams? In Round 2, will they snatch up a Guard (Jean-Gilles), a Tackle (McNeill), or a DT (Mahelona, Watson, Wright)? Even in Round 3, Green Bay could select Davin Joseph. In Round 1, Winston Justice OT and Bunkley DT are trade-down picks--not too far, but worth a late 3rd or early 4th to us. Haloti Ngata DT and Vernon Davis TE (and you could convince me about Huff at S) are "take 'em and run" great picks. Yeah, TE is down there for me, but you take Davis (or Mario) for the skillset and the mismatches he'd create, knowing that the depth in the draft is there for the next pick. In Round 2, though, I think one of these 4 will be there: Max Jean-Gilles OG, Darryl Tapp DE, Jesse Mahelona DT, and (if you're concerned about your needs), Davin Joseph OG will be there and worth a trade-down. Green Bay is a team to watch, though.

Other pluses for Wright: -He's a mixture of power and quickness (something we're building to every position) -He's interested in proving the scouts wrong -He's more experienced than most of the DT's above him

Is Clements Going To Force A Draft Day Trade ?
Astrobot replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have the solid LB's, and an average D-Line. This is a good reason to think that DT is our first pick, not Huff, and not Jimmy Williams. -
He did. But I moved in.

I just called a press conference to let you know that I don't know if I like the idea. Why did you come here to read my post?

I thought he did really well in American Idol. Oh, that wasn't him? -
Seattle would love to have someone like Ashton Youboty fall to them in RD#1, because Andre Dyson will need replacing, and that should be their #1 priority, especially with all the teams wanting a CB. Youboty won''t be there, however. I dunno if they'd take the next-best CB (Richard Marshall) here or look at DE, or FS. Not Guard. Pittsburgh also wants a Safety (Donte Whitner?) or LB (Bobby Carpenter?) with pick #1. They also realize WR needs to be addressed early (Sinorice Moss?), and all of these would be more important to them before picking Guard.

Offer sheets must be signed by April 21st by RFAs.

We could use Moorehead. -
Condraft has Davin Joseph as the #60 player in the draft. Another site has him going at the end of RD#2 or beginning RD#3. Joseph had the 2nd fastest 40-time of the top 15 Guards (Fred Matua, USC guy with knee-ankle-back issues, is the fastest). Tampa Bay may settle for a Guard at pick #23 (but they really want an OT), and the Packers, Jaguars, Vikings, Saints and Chargers will pick Guard sooner or later in the draft, but I don't see anyone else in our way by our Pick #2.
