  1. Yep, the more I look at this, Houston and Miami are going to be the ones that give us the trouble. Houston because of their diverse needs (all of which dovetail with our plans, especially with WM trade rumors) and Miami because of the DT ILB needs. I hope NE stays put behind us, as well as Denver, because they are both likely to move up.
  2. Remember that on his second day as Detroit Interim Head Coach, Jauron had Dre Bly apologize to the media after he went postal about Mariucci being fired? Bly was an alternate to the Pro Bowl the year before, I believe.
  3. Cato June had 11 tackles against TN in a cover-2 defense. The following week, 15 vs. Washington. Against NE in November he had 9 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 2 INT's. The following week, he led the team with 10 tackles against us. Two weeks later, he again led the Colts with 10 tackles, 9 of which were solo. Against CIN, he had 13 tackles, again leading the Colts against the Bungles. He led the Colts against Miami with 11, forced a fumble, and had an INT. He's entering his fifth year. If he makes it to FA, he'll be Levy's next signing.
  4. Pick—Team----Top Needs In Priority Order------------Pick-----------(Who Fell?) 1 Oakland--------QB, WR-OT----------------------------RUSSELL QB (Johnson WR) 2 Detroit--------- DE OT-OG-OC------------------------THOMAS OT (Or Trades Down) 3 Cleveland------RB DT OT-OG-------------------------PETERSON RB (Branch DT) 4 Tampa Bay-----WR-DT--------------------------------JOHNSON WR (Branch DT) 5 Arizona---------DE OT FS------------------------------ANDERSON DE (Adams DE) 6 Washington----DE ILB DT-----------------------------BRANCH DT (Adams DE) 7 Minnesota------WR WR TE-----------------------------JARRETT WR (Ginn WR) 8 Houston---------RB RB OT DT CB (Wild card)-------LYNCH RB (Okoye /Hall CB) 9 Miami------------QB DT ILB OT OC Wild Card)------QUINN QB (Okoye /Willis ILB) 10 Atlanta---------DE FS OT-----------------------------LANDRY FS (Adams DE) 11 San Fran------DT WR---------------------------------GINN WR (Okoye DT) LEFT FOR BILLS: Okoye DT, Willis ILB, Hall CB, Brown OT, Adams DE, and Tradedown. FACTORS: If Oakland goes with Jamarcus Russell, Okoye falls because Tampa Bay would then take the higher rated Calvin Johnson and put off taking a DT until RD#2. We signed Kelsay because AZ and WASH will take out the top rated DE’s. Washington needs a rush DE more than a cover-2 ILB, so Willis falls. Minnesota’s need for WR’s is deep, so they will take a WR. SF will take the other if they don’t take Okoye. Houston’s need at RB is huge, and they’ll latch onto Lynch. They could go with priority #2 and take OT Brown, Hall at CB, or Okoye. Watch Washington at 6. They could grab Willis, Okoye, or Gaines Adams, but if Branch falls past Cleveland and T-Bay, they’ll take Branch, leaving the others to us.
  5. If I have to take somebody from the Colts, it's LB Cato June. He won them 3 games this year, I swear.
  6. I think this is a good argument for taking a jumbo DT out of free agency. No 2nd Round DT is a one gap guy, and the quality tails off after that.
  7. DraftTek here has unveiled its updated computer mock, and we'd take Patrick Willis ILB in RD#1, followed by Cal's Brandon Mebane at DT in RD#2. Auburn's David Irons is our CB pick in RD#3, and Steve Smith from USC is our WR in RD#4. I like the picks but have a couple of comments. First, Mebane is another McCargo-Williams type. Here's a great article on how he's double-teamed so much that his teammates get all the glory (including CB Daymeon Hughes and their LB's): here I have no quibble with Irons, and love the Steve Smith pick. It is unrealistic to think that we get Smith in RD#4, but the computer knows all. It's good to be back after seeing the grandkids in Austin (temps in the high 70's)... Astro
  8. Shows you what defensive line pressure can do, huh?
  9. McNally is very high on Brad Butler competing with Pennington, or moving into RG--read this: Butler Could Make Impressive Jump also, great comment, Steve O: Levi did quite well drafting linemen. I don't think it'll be Levi at OT, tho'...
  10. I'll throw my bet in here that Carr winds up in Minnesota. Tarvaris Jackson, Brad Johnson, and Brooks Bollinger. 'Nuff said.
  11. I liked the way that Indy's LG Lilja played this season. I'd take him if the Colts can't come up with 2nd Round money ($1.5m)...
  12. 12. Buffalo - L. Brown OT Penn St. - The Bills have had great success with o-lineman early and Brown is a real bruiser that would fit in well in Buffalo. Hello? Mike Williams?
  13. ...And a wonderful way to occupy your time on an airline flight. I'll be buying PFW for my trip to Austin Friday.
  14. I would like to see the percentage on whether the Pro Bowl guy ever makes it to a Pro Bowl with another team, and broken down by age.
  15. Are you sure you want a magazine? Why not a draft site that actually updates its information? Some "Draft Bibles" are out of date the week after they publish it, and they only publish once.
  16. I think Levy and Co. are putting the final touches on their board as we speak. One of the things they must decide is" "At what positions would we be comfortable with a drafted rookie?". I posed this question a while back, and we thought that experience might be less important at DT than, say, CB or MLB. This leads me AWAY from drafting Hall-Revis-Houston in round 1 and toward getting our CB in Free Agency. Some would say we have the experienced CB on the squad (Youboty-McGee-Kiwaukee Thomas), and that CB isn't our #1 need, so you could draft and train a rookie CB. I maintain that's what we've already done with Youboty.
  17. I loved him on America's Funniest Videos. Maybe he wanted to devote all his energy to that.
  18. WRs- Need= Medium High (1st or 2nd Round or FA) - Suggest Meachem via Tradedown for Saints' 2nd in Round 1 OG- Need=High (1st or 2nd Round)- Suggest Blalock or Beekman in Round 2 LB- Need=High (Franchise Fletcher or 1st or 2nd Round or FA) - Suggest Brandon Siler in Round 2 (Saints' Pick) FB- Need=Medium-High (FA or 4th Round)-Suggest Brian Leonard in Round 3 TE's-Need=Medium (Mid Rounder)-Suggest Matt Spaeth, Minnesota, Round 4 RB- Need=Medium-Low (5th Pick or Lower)- Suggest Dwayne Wright From Fresno St. in Round 5 QB- Need=Low (6th or 7th Round or No Pick)- Suggest Jeff Rowe from Nevada in Round 6 DL- Need= Medium High (1st or 2nd Round or FA)- Suggest FA CBs- Need=Medium High (1st or 2nd Round or FA) - Suggest FA

  20. Rumor has it the Sabres will be renamed the Paris Hiltons.
  21. The Bills put their emphasis on defense last time around, picking 5 of 7 on that side of the ball. This time, they use their cap money on defense, securing LB and CB before the draft. Then it gets really offensive: RD#1- TRADE DOWN with New Orleans at 27, who wants a CB at Pick 12, Obtain their 1st RD and their 2nd (Picks 27 and 58). RD#1- TRADE Willis McGahee to Baltimore for their RD#2, pick 61). RD#1- Marshawn Lynch, RB Pick 27 RD#2- Justin Blaylock, OG Pick 43 RD#2- David Irons, CB Pick 58 RD#2- Samson Satele, OC Pick 61 RD#3- Manny Ramirez, OG Pick 74 RD#4- Matt Spaeth, TE Pick 107 RD#6- Dallas Baker, WR 6-3 210 Pick 169 RD#7- Matt Trannon, WR 6-6 235 Pick 203 All of these picks were made by picking players not yet selected at that pick, in DraftTek's new draft.
  22. There are good DT's in RD#1,2, and 3 that have speed and beef, if you're looking. RD#1 Alan Branch 6-6 325 JR Michigan - Either Okoye (the current draft darling) or Branch can fall to us, based on team needs of the first 11 drafting ahead of us. If they don't, it means a cornerback, running back or quarterback has fallen instead. Okoye doesn't have the beef, but he's a youngster who's still growing. He will be just as disruptive as Branch. RD#2 Quinn Pitcock 6-4 300 SR Ohio State RD#3 Louis Leonard 6-5 320 SR Fresno St. I'm beginning to think that (if we aren't sure on Branch or Okoye or are going mainly in the offensive direction this draft) you pick up FA Terdell Sands DT and go with him, McCargo, Tripplett, and Williams. Sands would be mainly used in 3rd and short, 4th and short, and goal to go. Ian Scott isn't any bigger than who we have. We also will move Denney in on occasion.
  23. Leon Hall's stock is dropping by the day. On NFLDraftScout.com, Hall is now listed as the #21 pick, 3rd among CB's. Dave Wannstedt-coached Darrelle Revis from Pitt is coming up the board to the #9 place. Wannstedt is quoted as saying, "Given the feedback he has received, we support Darrelle in his decision to apply for the NFL draft. He is an exceptional football player and an even better young man. "Having coached in the NFL, I know what teams are looking for and Darrelle has both the necessary tangibles and intangibles. Somebody is going to get one heck of a cornerback in this spring's draft." Daymeion Hughes is now #19, although he wasn't in the Senior Bowl due to a pulled hamstring. He was great in the Sr. Bowl practices though. One Scout said, "Hughes turned in one of the great single day performances Monday I've seen over my seven years of covering the Senior Bowl.....He was never challenged deep -- which is a significant caveat, as he is estimated to run in the mid 4.5s -- but he rarely allowed short and medium receptions, consistently showing the instincts, body control, and instantaneous break on the ball that caused his own coaching staff (Tampa Bay) to routinely praise him and for scouts throughout the stands to divert their attention towards him. Hughes was at his best matched one on one with receivers, but also showed sticky hands and good leaping ability in drills earlier in practice."
