  3. You speak Trooth, except that as fans we have to do something between the Super Bowl and draft day. For me, the draft research and the FA intrigue is fabulous mental exercise, cheaper than eBay or Guinness, and a great hobby. I will not sit back.
  4. This is no year to expect RB help in the draft or in FA unless you draft Lynch in RD#1. From ESPN: "Clearly, this is a two-back draft. Peterson will probably go to Cleveland with the third pick and Marshawn Lynch of Cal secured a mid first-round grade with his 4.46 time in the 40. Peterson tied Chris Henry of Arizona with a 4.4 40 and he did it despite finding out his half brother was shot over the weekend. That's simply incredible concentration. What's interesting about the rest of the backs is that there are great, raw, big backs who will be available in the second and third rounds. Henry came out of nowhere to run his 4.4 weighing 230 pounds. Ohio State's Antonio Pittman helped his stock with a 4.4 40. Michael Bush of Louisville still has to run. This isn't the year to get an impact running back -- either in free agency or in the draft, but it's a good year to add depth. The backs in the draft are big and have some speed. The free agent backs are more 1-A type of prospects who may not be featured but can help."
  5. I hope that by draft day, we have a CB from trade or free agency so if this scenario occurs we can go for Best Available. Which is Anderson or Lynch. Timmons fell out of the first round in the combine, IMHO.
  6. Excellent! Right Answer! Here's what happens: BUF Trades Down 4-5 Places STL Alan Branch, DT, Michigan CAR Patrick Willis, LB, Mississippi Panthers need LB help because Dan Morgan can't stay healthy, and Willis will provide immediate help. Wills was the defensive MVP for the South team in the Senior Bowl with 11 tackles. PIT Darrelle Revis, DB, Pittsburgh The Steelers don't have a glaring need, but can't pass on Revis and he could be a steal at #15. GB Marshawn Lynch, RB, California Several teams picking after them hope the Packers pass on Lynch, but Ahman Green is not getting any younger, so Green Bay taking a RB makes the most sense, especially a RB some analysts think is the best RB in the draft. BUF Amobe Okoye DT

  9. ILB Willis in RD#1, CB Daymeion Hughes in RD#2. If we were to draft today, we still have McGahee on our roster.
  10. DraftTek now has it ILB, CB, DT, FB, WR, OLB 1. Willis ILB 2. Hughes CB 3. Pitcock DT 4. Leonard FB These picks rock. 6. Mike Walker Cent.Fla. WR 6'2", 200 I'd rather see Matt Trannon here but agree with WR or OLB at this pick. 7. Dallas Sartz OLB 8th ranked OLB in the draft; he's 6-5, 235, and a USC team captain. I'd go for him in RD#6. If we want a RD#7 OLB, I'd take Quincy Black: Returning starter who took over the safety/linebacker hybrid Lobo position, made famous at UNM by All-American Brian Urlacher in 1998 and '99...usually lines up between linebacker and safety depth and has significant pass coverage responsibilities...at 6-3, 227, he is an intimidating physical presence in the secondary who boasts NFL-caliber athletic ability...was listed by ESPN.com's NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. as one of the nation's top senior OLBs during the summer...2006 team captain...quickly established himself as a big time playmaker against the run and pass last season in his first year as a starter (OLB)...has proven to be a real steal for the Lobos...was a late addition to the team, transferring from Harper College in Palatine, Ill. in the summer of 2004...a second team All-American at defensive end for the Harper Hawks, helping the team win the junior college national title in 2003...holds the LB vertical jump record at UNM with a 42-inch leap...well-spoken and well-read individual who has maintained a tremendous attitude despite enduring much tragedy in his life off the field.
  11. Agree here, and maybe lower than that from a yardage production standpoint. 16th-20th best would be generous. 1 LaDainian Tomlinson SD 1815 2 Larry Johnson KC 1789 3 Frank Gore SF 1695 4 Tiki Barber NYG 1662 5 Steven Jackson StL 1528 6 Willie Parker Pit 1494 7 Rudi Johnson Cin 1309 8 Brian Westbrook Phi 1217 9 Chester Taylor Min 1216 10 Travis Henry Ten 1211 11 Thomas Jones Chi 1210 12 Edgerrin James Ari 1159 13 Ladell Betts Was 1154 14 Fred Taylor Jac 1146 15 Warrick Dunn Atl 1140 16 Jamal Lewis Bal 1132 17 Julius Jones Dal 1084 18 Joseph Addai Ind 1081 19 Ahman Green GB 1059 20 Deuce McAllister NO
  12. For a while I thought this might be Cato June, but he isn't stouter than Fletcher. June is a younger version who had double-digit tackles in more than a half dozen games for the Colts in a "down" year for him in 2006-7. He has the cover-2 speed and the surehanded tackling, but not the bulk, maybe, to supplant LF-B.
  13. I vote that "Polamaluish" be added to the TSW Lexicon. Brilliant! And I'm all for this pick. So is Levy. He wanted Hawk last year, and he's still pissed about it.
  14. Welcome ostlc. Great first post. You may post often! I agree with other posters saying Walker will be better with McNally, Fairchild, the new line, a more modern blocking scheme, an offense based on quickness, etc., and would add that a good run game on 1st and 2nd down can make an o-line prevent sacks. Not true in Raiders country. I love the line, "Bills fan trapped in Raiders home". All I can visualize is a silver-makeupped, black-costumed crone, bars on the windows, black and silver Home Depot walls, and a cardboard statue of Gallery over in the corner.
  15. I like your list. I think we're still going to sign a FA LB (either ILB or OLB), so maybe the OG comes out of Round 2.
  16. First of all, I love DraftTek. I've been keeping the TSW folks informed when you update the site. I'm thinking QB- 9 RB- 5 moves to 3, whispers of Willis McGahee trade and A-Train on the trading block WR- 5 OT - 4 OG - 3 TE - 4 OC - 4 FB - 6 moves to 5 at least (no Daimon Shelton and Levy's commitment to the run, whispers of Willis McGahee trade DT - 2 DE - 9 ILB - 2 stays, as Crowell may move inside OLB - 6 moves to 3 with Spikes trade rumors and move of Crowell leaves Ellison as a starter SS - 9 FS - 9 CB - 3 moves to 2 or 1 with Nate Clements a 49'er PK - 9
  17. There are no good Lamborghini repair shops in Buffalo, and no room for head cases either. Bryant will head for Cincy.
  18. I think you hit the nail on the head. Whittle is our hedge if we don't draft Blaylock/Grubbs in RD2/3 of the draft.
  19. Look at Grubbs or Ramirez in RD#2, or get the bookend OT by drafting Levi Jones in RD#1. We'll see a bit of Marv's pre-draft strategy in the next few days.
  20. 1--------------------------------------------Amobe Okoye DT 2--------------------------------------------Justin Blalock OG 2 from Balt (Willis)----------------------Buster Davis ILB 3---------------------------------------------Tony Hunt RB 4---------------------------------------------Steve Smith WR
  21. Plus Kolby Smith is probably gettable in RD#6 or early 7.
  22. I immediately thought Philly and San Diego for booms, and agree about the Pats. For busts, Oakland over Cleveland. Cleveland is edged out --again, due to bad luck.
  23. I'll bet he ends up in San Francisco, not us. He'll retire a Bill, though, in 2 years. This is a good draft for WR's. Plus I like George Wilson's chances of taking a spot from one of our guys this year.
  24. I can't disagree with Okoye being your #1 preference, as he is the only DT I see in the top 2 rounds that is a disruptive, one-gap player to alternate with Tripplett. I'd have Willis first or second on my list, as LB is so critical to our version of the cover-2, and we haven't moved on re-signing LF-B yet. And I think tradedown would be third, because I think we can get a CB later in the round plus another RD3 pick. I'd prefer OG with my second rounder and not OT in round 1.
