And that would be Gaines Adams. I'm not saying we need to go DE in Round 1. Our pressure needs to be more inside (DT, ILB) anyway.
-
This is a Day 2 position. Cory Redding will probably go in Round 5 (where we don't have a pick), and the Bills may pick up Jason Snelling in the 6th-7th. If they want Redding, they might have to get him in the 4th.
-
I'd rather have an ILB for my second rounder, but other than that, me likey.

" 'The 280- or 290-pound end is disappearing,'acknowledged Buffalo Bills defensive line coach Bill Kollar. 'You look at the ends coming into the league now, and they all kind of look like basketball players, you know? [There's] not a lot of bulk out there.' Consider the most highly regarded ends in the 2007 draft class: The average height and weight of the 12 ends cited most often by league scouts to ESPN.com as worthy of being taken in the first two rounds is 6-4 1/8 and 268.3 pounds, according to measurements recorded at the combine. Seven of the 12 are at least 6-foot-4 and four of those are 6-foot-5 or taller. At the same time, six weigh less than 270 pounds and only two, Jamaal Anderson of Arkansas and Nebraska's Adam Carriker weigh more than 285 pounds. " Link FACTOIDS: ---For the record, DE Schobel is 262, Kelsay is 275, and Denney is 275. ---We haven't drafted a DE in 4 years. ---Schobel is the only drafted Bills player left from the class of 2001. ---Our DE's were all drafted in the 2nd Round (2003: Pick 16 Chris Kelsay, 2002: Pick 29 Ryan Denney, 2001: Pick 15 Aaron Schobel). Marcellus Wiley was also a Round 2 pick (1997). Sean Moran was a 4th Rounder in 1996. The only other DE in the last 11 years was Bryce Fisher as 7th Rounder in 1999. ---Bruce Smith was 265. ---The DE that matches Schobel the closest is either Gaines Adams (who we won't be taking) or Daniel Bazuin of Central Michigan, same height and 4 lbs. heavier. ---The 14th Ranked Bazuin is 2nd fastest of the DE's who have run the 40. He'd be a mid-3rd round pick. ---Gaines Adams is the lightest of the Top 4 DE's at 258, but is the fastest of the Top 13 at 4.67. ---Schobel ran a 4.78 at his combine. ---Of the Top 13, Only Jarvis Moss is lighter (250). ---Schobel's Ourlads Scouting Report wasn't very optimistic about him: "Schobel is a four-year starter who is not real muscular and lacks some power in his overall game. He is a very high energy competitor and is quick at the snap, but is not explosive on contact..." Astro

From that article: "Comes off the edge with explosion as a pass rusher and can blast his way up the middle to track down the ball … Can play any linebacker position, but his hand usage, run pursuit and zone drops are better suited for the middle …"

Ben Patrick would be a RD#3a pick for the Bills, where we oughta be thinking about our prime needs. With Royal not having to block so much, He can bump his guy and receive more.

That was my granddaughter, and it was a Tickle-Me EMO.

Actually, I heard it was "Junior TE Assistant Coach of the Scout Team Waterboy."

Something that is taking shape for the upcoming season

Ball would be an excellent 6th Round pick. He is rated #171 on a draft site I like, and our pick's #169. Ball was 2nd overall in receiving yardage in Division 1AA last year, and passed a guy named Jerry Rice in number of TD's. About the Typing TD: "A high school basketball and high jump champion, Ball grabbed a jump ball in the corner of the end zone for his third touchdown Saturday and the 50th TD catch of his career, tying Rice's all-time Division I-AA mark. With a chance to surpass the future Hall of Famer, Ball watched most of the second half as the Wildcats beat Dartmouth 56-14. "He's as gifted a receiver as anybody in the country. He's acrobatic and he can run with the ball when you give him some room," Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens said." -
I project that Beekman will be there at our pick in Round 4, if Atlanta doesn't take him 2 spots before us in that round. A great value pick at that point.

Wow, good find. He's in the Kolby Smith-DeShawn Wynn area (#15 RB on one board). I'd really like to see the bills pick some "huh?" picks on Day 2--Like Terrence Pennington and Keith Ellison.

Bills really pick #9 in the draft...
Astrobot replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Compelling. Completely agree. Cleveland doesn't take Peterson, let's say. They are weak on O-Line (OT and OG), so they take Joe Thomas. Tampa and Arizona have their RB's and don't shop the pick. The freefall begins for AP. Washington may be looking for an RB, but they have bigger needs on both lines. They could trade their pick, but make the choice of Jamaal Anderson, Branch or Levi Brown. Minnesota would take WR, and not RB. Houston's set at RB, so maybe they go for Brady Quinn or the WR du jour. Miami, Atlanta, and SF all have specific needs more than RB: Miami=WR, OT, OC, maybe CB, and might take a falling QB. Atlanta=DE, FS, OG, OT. I think they get LaRon Landry here, and they're excited. SanFran=WR is biggest need IMO, but DT, DE, OLB all rate above RB. And The Bills have the board's best running back at their pick. -
Who sees Green Bay trading up with us in the draft?
Astrobot replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Detroit, Washington, and Atlanta want an inside linebacker. Detroit picks too early to take LB. Washington has other problems (defensive end, defensive tackle), and Branch, Okoye, Adams, and Anderson are still there. Atlanta needs their free safety and defensive end, and Landry, Adams and/or Anderson are ranked higher than Willis. -
Wonderful choices, and they all have their pluses and minuses. Bush would be a round 1 if not for his injury, but we've been down that road. Leonard is an attraction for his RB-FB multiple role ability. He's a blocker, too. Hunt made the most damage in the receiving department, and I WAS leaning toward a 3rd Round back (more nervous about Run Defense than Run). Both Hunt and Pittman are going to hit the hole faster than Willis McToronto.

My own mock draft- I did this myself, and nobody helped me!!

I'd also be bringing in RB's if I was going to draft a new QB. A running offense would be a good way to cover for a developing pass offense. I have the Raiders taking Joe Staley in the 2nd. -
Here's the Zune Killer: Portable unit, car- and home-player My son did the GPS for the car dock, and the satellite receiver for the player, so you get "your" exact same music when you're out joggin', without having to download or synchronize your player with the computer.

Bills won't draft either Lynch or Peterson

The following teams have a big QB need that is 1 or 2 on a scale of 1-9: Oakland The following teams have a big WR need that is 1 or 2 on a scale of 1-9: Oakland (drafting 1st) Tampa Bay (drafting 4th) Minnesota (could use 2)(drafting 7th) Miami(drafting 9th) San Fran (could use 2)(drafting 11th) Tennessee(drafting 19th) Philly (could use 2)(drafting 26th) San Diego(drafting 30th) Oakland could use either (or both) Calvin and Jamarcus (not to mention an OT or 2). They are Wild Card #1. They know that there is a bigger need for WR than QB, so you'd think they take WR Calvin in RD#1. The run on WR's will help us. Look at Tennessee, Philly and San Diego to jump up, particularly Philly. They will actually help preserve the order, because they are want a high-demand WR in that slot, be it 1st, 4th, etc. -
My son Mike has been working on a "secret" project for a year, and it went online today. Slacker.com has their music player up and running: More info: Personalized Radio My son's parts will be out soon: "A separate Wi-Fi-enabled pocketable gadget that will be able to play the personalized selections will be available in the early summer, with models ranging roughly from $150 to $299, the company said. A car kit that will deliver the music via satellite signals will be available later in the year at a price yet to be disclosed." Astro

The New DraftTek Draft is out with the signing of A-Train and Kiwaukee making a difference in our 1st 3 picks. We go DT, ILB, RB, WR and pick up OLB in the 6th (KaMichael Hall), finishing with Jason Snelling at FB. Note that no CB is picked. What is more unnerving, when it comes time for the Bills to pick, CB is either a REACH (Hall isn't picked until #18 in the 1st, Wade isn't picked until #58, 15 slots after we take Siler) or CB's are picked BEFORE our selection (Daymeion Hughes picked 6 picks before our 2nd Rounder, and Irons-Wilson-Davis picked before our 3rd). I hope that this means either a trade-down, or a CB selection before the draft. If not, we could make a reach for a player without receiving value in return, or an embarrassing CB pick too late to be effective.
