  1. I checked 3 sources and Landri is a 5th Rounder. Again, the Phantom 5th Strikes.
  2. I just read another poster who says that Buffalo has checked Wendling out. I am not comfortable with our stable of safeties, especially with one injury to Dante, Ko, or Jim Leonard. I wouldn't mind being Wireless.
  3. I've been looking at Safety. We drafted our SS #1 last year, Donte Whitner, and he's backed up by undrafted free agent Jim Leonard. We have Ko Simpson as our FS, and he's backed up by...undrafted free agent Jim Leonard. Leonard was originally a FS who did well at Wisconsin. (21 interceptions, All-time Big Ten history in punt return yards, special teams demon). I feel we'll need one more safety, but where to draft one. I'm pretty sure we won't be doing this in round 1 and 2 (Landry, Nelson, Merriwether, Griffin, Weddle), although Whitner was a surprise to me...So I've been dredging around in the mid-rounds. Here's my take. In Round 3 it would be either Sabby Piscitelli at SS, John Wendling (FS/SS), or Josh Gattis at FS. Rouse and Syracuse's Tanard Jackson have character issues. Since Leonard is more of a FS, I'll bet we take a SS--Piscitelli or Wendling. Round 3B is the best spot for a SS. Piscitelli ---physical specimen, tough guy, some cornerback, knack for being around the ball and making a big play, 23 straight starts, most INT's by any active player in the Pac-10, 113 tackles and 17 pass breakups. My choice for 3B SS pick. Wendling---is versed in both positions, fast, Excellent size and tremendous bulk, Physical, aggressive, solid tackler, superb job versus the run, hard worker, compared to Denver safety John Lynch but more athletic than Lynch.
  4. If we are going to draft an ILB, it comes down to Willis (RD#1) or Harris (RD#2). That's it. I'm not even convinced Harris is the right move (despite my Sig Line LOL) because he's probably better suited for a 3-4 ILB position than a 4-3. Siler is mouthy. He's a talker and sometimes rubs people the wrong way. Durant (RD#2) is acceptable; but a bit small (12 lbs less than Willis) and isn't known for run defense. Davis is smaller than London Fletcher, is short, and has had weight problems in the past. I like his passion and production, but I am worried about the drop off from Willis.
  5. They really can't get a MLB in the second round. There is far less value in RD#2 on LB's than any other round. This makes me think that the Bills pick LB in Round 1 or wait until Round 3.
  6. I've been thinking the same thing, and looked at safeties. How about RD#4? Sabby Piscitelli (Oregon, 6-3 224) is a physical, tough player who is climbing the boards.
  7. It started great, and ended great. You get the best LB in the draft, the best receiving RB in Day 1 (IMHO), then Penn State's fastest LB for a solid 1-3a. I feel one of our first 3 picks will be a CB, though, so I'd take Fred Bennett at 3a instead of Shaw. Tarrell Brown has "significant character concerns", so he's not coming to Buffalo. DE isn't the next need so in RD#4, so take Ball here, as he will be gone later. We also won't be taking the FB because of Levy's comments today. Like Pudewell, but they say Matt Trannon is a great TE/WR pick, so how about him instead?
  8. Agree about Branch. There are only about 3 NT's in the draft, and the other two possess nowhere near Branch's skillset. The other two are Day 2 picks: Paul Soliai (RD#3B or 4) 6’4” 344 lbs., Started all 24 games. Among DT’s, 3rd in 20-yard dash. Louis Leonard 6’4”, 320 Fresno St. (RD#4 or Phantom-5) A true run stopper – Consistently gets a good push. Shows a good swim move. Uses hand fighting well to get free of OL's and stop the ballcarrier.
  9. 2003, where are you pulling the names for the choices in each Round?

  11. If I had to guess, it'll be Round 6--Isiah Stanback Washington ---Michael Vick with Dreds. Round 6--Jeff Rowe Nevada ---Rowe again started every game in 2005 (11), when he completed 62-percent of his attempts for 2,925 yards, 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Rowe is a developmental prospect with ideal size. He is a confident leader and an accurate short-to-intermediate passer. Round 7--Toby Korrodi, Cent. Missouri State---Great zip on his passes (5 mph faster than Stanback and Troy Smith), 29 TD's 5 INT's this season, 5.3 speed.
  12. Implied--no, directly said-- Wilson must be getting team ready to sell. Hairdo said that we'd eschew Marshawn Lynch for Patrick Willis in Round 1 and grab a Thurman Thomas type--Pittman-- in RD#2.
  13. Stanback, as it seems, will probably be a 4-5th Rounder, not a 7th Rounder. Palko is 5th-6th Round. Zabransky is now projected to be Round 5, and Kolb 4th Round. I think Chris Leak is a 5th-6th Rounder. To find a QB in Round 7, you'd most likely have to pick between one of these, and decide if they'd rate higher than Ochs-Woodbury: Jeff Rowe, Nevada: "Started all 12 games in 2004 and threw for 2,633 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with a 58-percent completion percentage. Rowe again started every game in 2005 (11), when he completed 62-percent of his attempts for 2,925 yards, 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Rowe is a developmental prospect with ideal size. He is a confident leader and an accurate short-to-intermediate passer." Toby Korrodi, Cent. Missouri State: Great zip on his passes (5 mph faster than Stanback and Troy Smith), 29 TD's 5 INT's this season, 5.3 speed. Zac Taylor, Nebraska. Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Lacks zip on his passes, but 9th in NCAA in pass efficiency, is a quick study. Good leadership skills. Might be better fit in a West Coast offense. Matt Guitierrez 6-4 230 Idaho St. - Starter for the 2004 season opener against Miami (OH), but suffered a shoulder injury, and did not throw a pass that season ... finished his career in game vs. Michigan 27-for-41, completing 65.9 percent of his passes, for 286 yards and a touchdown ... his career quarterback rating is 132.5 on sparse work. Developmental prospect.
  14. Gotta wonder if the QB you're describing is Kevin Kolb from Houston. I know New England is looking at him Source as well as Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders would pick before us in the 7th Round.
  15. Yes. I like Tyler Palko (RD#6), Jeff Rowe (RD#6), and Jared Zabransky (RD#7). I don't think we'd be picking a QB earlier. We have no RD#5 pick, and it'll take 5 picks to fill the other needs.
  16. I totally agree with you. I think we might take a Day 1 RB and a Day 2 RB. Pittman and Leonard are probably the RD#2 choices, and they seem more palatable than the RD#3 (Lo-Book, Hunt, Irons, Bush). Bush is the wild card due to three past injury issues, and Hunt's stock has fallen. Jackie Battle may go as high as RD#3, but I suspect he's early round 4. If I had to guess on the Day 1 guy, it'd be Pittman, as he offers a good change-up from A-Train. Pittman tied Adrian Peterson and Chris Henry for fastest official 40 time, so he has the speed. He's still raw, and would need seasoning. He's a safer bet than Hunt-Irons-Bush. I have a feeling we'll be seeing Leonard in the AFC East if we don't take him (Jets-Patriots both interested). On Day 2, my best guess for the Bills would be Kenneth Darby in Round 6. He ran behind one one of the worst OL's in the country and averaged 4.7 ypc, caught 70 balls, and had zero fumbles.
  17. Many of those running back needs were offensive line-related. No push. We were awful on third down, fourth down, goal line, and red zone. Snelling in the 6th or Cory Anderson in the 4th will take care of some of those needs. The other factors will be Dockery, using the same offense 2 years in a row, additional redzone WR (providing a bigger threat out wide), and a QB who now has a little more seasoning. I'd add TE in here but I'm not seeing changes there.
  18. Hargrove saw the fall of Alan Branch in the draft rankings, and thought he had better nail a space down for training camp!
  19. Leonard is also a very good blocker. Also a very good leaper over would-be tacklers.
  20. I agree, for another reason. It would take up 2 draft picks to get Leonard and, say, Pittman. We need those picks for other positions.
  21. Levy makes me sure that we come out of this draft with exactly what we need. We won't see it that way after Round 1, after Day 1, or after the draft, but during the season we'll once again say, "NICE WORK, MARV!"
