  1. Carlson may last until 4th round, but until not our pick.
  2. I DID mean Felton the AK Guard. Made me wonder if a team ever wrote down the wrong "Smith" or something... If I had a choice of TE, I guess I'd want one that is balanced enough at blocking AND receiving to give the defense a split-second problem at the snap. Bennett's the best blocker in Rounds 1-3, and they all catch really well. Cottam has the highest receiving ypc but would be available in RD#4, but Carlson is the better blocker in RD#4. It's a quandary. Bennett and Craig Stevens (7th Rounder) have the best balance in the late rounds, but I think drafting a TE will happen before then, and we probably won't draft two TE's. I love Cody Wallace. He's aggressive, big, tough, and has 3 years at Center. Interesting stat: He had 100 pancake blocks in H.S. AND played both ways. This year he had 131 knockdowns and 13 touchdown-resulting blocks. The knock on Wallace was that he couldn't handle Sedrick Ellis 1 on 1. My advice? Make sure Ellis is on our team!
  3. The Bills net two comp picks they weren't expecting the NFL to dole out. The first comp pick is #132 in Round 4, and the other is #251 in the 7th Round. This gives the Bills 10 draft picks without trade-downs. What does it mean for the Bills? Some of the players that are on the cusp between Round 4 and Round 5, and should now be in play for the Bills include Owen Schmitt FB, Pedro Sosa and Kirk Barton OT, Robert Felton FB, Brian Johnston DE, Andre Fluellen DT, Bryan Kehl OLB, Patick Lee and Tyvon Branch CB, Dexter Jackson WR, and Jamar Adams SS. That's one way the new picks affect our draft: We have the opportunity in late Round 4 to take Best Player Still Available (one of these I just listed). Here's a mock: RD#1, Pick 11 --Malcolm Kelly WR RD#2, Pick 42 --Patrick Sims DT RD#3, Pick 73 -- Martellus Bennett TE RD#4, Pick 111 -- Brian Johnston DE RD#4, Pick 132 --Tyvon Branch CB (compensatory pick nets the draft's fastest CB) RD#5, Pick 142 -- Jamar Adams SS RD#6, Pick 170 -- Cody Wallace OC RD#7, Pick 202 -- Dennis Dixon QB RD#7, Pick 210 -- Joel Collins, FB RD#7, Pick 251 -- Mark Bradford WR (compensatory pick nets Trent's WR with 41" vertical)
  4. I hope you submit this one. They will like it. Sounds like you'd be right up there. Runner-up gets fries.
  5. What this tells me is that the Bills do a decent job in the later rounds, and I expect we'll have more Mario Haggans than CJ Ah You's in the coming drafts.
  6. NOW yer talkin'!!! Poz-Connor-Crowell, with Mitchell-DiGiorgio-Ellison backing them up--that's depth.
  7. The other knock is that he's not the downfield blocker that other guys are around Round 4-5 (Reynaud, Hubbard, Steve Johnson). He becomes a good bet for the 2nd WR in the 5th, I'll give you that, but it depends on what the incidents were, and nobody's talking.
  8. I think the ratings are spot on. When people make value boards and want to be accurate they must only have 32 players for each round (or this year, 31 in the first round). I love the Laws, Carlson, Moffitt picks. Flowers has character issues, is small, tends to gamble too much, and has 4.6 speed. Give me Molden or Branch in the 4th. That's the earliest I want a CB for this team. Lavelle Hawkins is the slowest WR that could be drafted in the 4th. I do think Zuttah makes it to #111. A bit early for an OT, but if we have 2 picks in the 4th he's great value there.
  9. OK, here's an interesting question: would you take Ikegwuonu on a flyer in the 7th Round? He has a ACL and will be out for 2008.
  10. It's 1250 points on the point value chart to get up to #11, and their #22 and #28 is 1440 points. We'd need to give up 190 points, which is our 3rd Rounder. How Bout: #22-Malcolm Kelly WR #28-James Hardy WR #42- Fred Davis TE #73- Geno Hayes OLB #111- Owen Schmitt FB #138 Brian Johnston DE #170 Chris McDuffie OG #202 Derek Lokey DT #210 Art Carmody K Louisville - all-time NCAA leader in points
  11. While it doesn't help us to get Malcolm Kelly, this trade down allows us to pick up a 2nd and extra 4th rounder. That still gets us a good WR but also gets us a top notch CB.
  12. San Francisco Trades Down for DE, Bills get RD1 #29, RD2 #40, and RD4 #104. RD#1, Pick 29 -- Sweed/Hardy WR. But Limas Sweed will be likely gone and Hardy likely there. RD#2, Pick 40 -- Andre Caldwell WR. Florida wideout backs up Evans, adds insurance if Evans bolts. 4.37 is 2nd fastest WR RD#2, Pick 42 -- Pat Sims DT. Agree on this guy to complete the 4-man rotation. RD#3, Pick 73 -- Martellus Bennett TE. One of the best combined blocker/receiver TE's. RD#4, Pick 104 -- Tyvon Branch CB- Fastest CB at 4.31 -- you have DRC without the hype. RD#4, Pick 111 -- Brian Johnston DE. He's 280 pounds and quick. Huge upside. DE rotation is complete. RD#5, Pick 142 -- Jamar Adams SS. Michigan safety has character and hitter in one. RD#6, Pick 170 -- Cody Wallace OC - A&M The draft's hardest hitting Center. RD#7, Pick 202 -- Dennis Dixon QB - Oregon quarterback injured his ACL. You keep JP and let Dixon heal a year. RD#7, Pick 210 -- Jalen Parmele RB - The best route runner at the Senior Bowl. UDFA: Craig Stevens TE after Bennett, the best blocking/receiver combination Chris Johnson RB - ECU 197 4.24 NFL's fastest draftee. Mark Bradford WR - Stanford receiver ,6'1",211,4.6, 41vert
  13. Regarding the "Selection with no Trade"----That's who would be picked if no Trades went down. Since there were two trades (Buff-SF and Atl-Dall), it changed the selections a bit, and both Merling and Harvey would have fallen to our #11. Since DraftTek has Merling rated higher, he'd represent the least reach and most value given our Player Needs, and would have been our simulated pick. The "Value/Reach" is how far away the player that was selected differed from the DraftTek list of Top 300 players (which is modified daily from several top sources). If we take Kelly (who is player 21 on their list) at #11, it's a Reach of -10. I'd like to see DraftTek have the Player List change by munching mock drafts, and have the movement of players up or down accordingly.
  14. GREAT 1-5 Draft IMHO. Stevens in the 5th (played with Lynch) was a great blocker for him. One draft guru called Stevens the best block/receiver combo TE in the draft.
  15. Not enough room on the header for "with the Titans?"
  16. Agreed on both counts. An offensive-minded draft, with opportunities for audibles, plus more weapons out in patterns more often. Plus Lynch throwing from the handoff once a game!
  17. That site has the worst layout of all the draft sites I have seen, and I keep track of 24 of them. Are you the father of the 13 year old that created this nightmare?
  18. I have those three players drafted at RD1 #24 (Thomas), RD1 #7 (McKelvin), and RD3 #94 (Carlson). None would be a "stay put at #11" scenario. Also there is no RD2 pick in here yet to my knowledge. I think we're moving around on draft day.
  19. See DraftTek's Custom Simulation for the partner du jour. I had them run this simulation because I don't think we stay put. http://www.drafttek.com/CustomRound12008.html
  20. See DraftTek. Both are there at #11, and the 49'ers pick Merling over Harvey!
  21. Yeah, I have Jason Jones more of a 3-4 DE, a tweener who'd likely not be picked by the Bills. I have Johnson as the best later round DE who'll go around #132, but if we pick up an Ending- 4th Round compensatory pick this week, he'd be a good bet there. Chase Ortiz of TCU is my best bet 7th-UDFA pick. Great character and great quickness. His knock is that he's slim, but that's before he meets chicken wings.
  22. Draft Tek Bills TradeDown with San Francisco 49'ers San Francisco wants a DE in the worst way, so much that they are willing to give us their RD1 #29, RD2 #40, and RD4 #104 to move up to #11. The Bills now have 7 picks of the Top 150. RD#1, Pick 29 -- Limas Sweed RD#2, Pick 40 RD#2, Pick 42 RD#3, Pick 73 RD#4, Pick 104 RD#4, Pick 111 RD#5, Pick 142 Check out the rest of the picks and see what you think. Astro
  23. With the 11th pick, the Bills select to trade down and still get the top rated Tight End AND top rated wide receiver.
  24. That would be fun. But what happens in Wilson, stays in Wilson. Besides, I can't remember. The part of the cerebrum devoted to Bills memories is a bit ..uh... beerful. Anybody have a really clear story?
