  1. Yep, Kiper still has Kelly at #23. Bennett's going in the 2nd Round--to us.
  2. On D I'll say Poz; On O I'll say Lynch. Both profit from the new signees.
  3. We're talking about putting Malcolm Kelly at #50 on our Big Board at DraftTek.
  4. A late round WR that can jump is Mark Bradford, from Stanford. He's 6'1", 211, but jumped a freaky 41" at the combine. I'd like the Bills to draft 2 WR's--one in Round 1-3 and Bradford. I actually like the UDFA's still on the roster, as well.
  5. I was going to say the same thing. The good start with no serious injuries will be vital to a young team's confidence and a newbie OC's risk-taking.
  6. "We've done our studies and history has said that over time," said Modrak. "All of us have broken ranks on those things. Part of it is picking 11th, a point where there's enough guys coming off the board that it's not slam dunk wherever you're going. There is consideration what you can pick up next time around and not be isolated, and ask, 'What's better for us now and what's better for us in a little while?'" This, plus Modrak's comments about the CB's can get very average very quickly leads me to think we're going CB first and WR soon after--either pulling a Poz (moving up in RD#2 to get Hardy) or pulling a McCargo (sacrificing later picks).
  7. Thomas went at #15. And yes, I realize that if I hadn't traded down with the Vikes, I would have been able to take Thomas at #11. And I think Modrak's thinking the same thing. But I got an extra 3rd Rounder.

  9. Back to the subject at hand, our pick in Round 1. I have not received any offers to trade down further, and will select Limas Sweed WR with our RD#1 pick. We have one RD#2 and two #3 picks supposedly all tomorrow. My Plan remains intact on my sig line below. Astro
  10. Rivers was taken 10th by the Aints. http://www.drafttek.com/2008Corr1.html
  11. I agree. I will say that Jordy Nelson isn't even the best receiver in Round 3, let alone Round 2. He is the tallest. That seems to matter to many of you.
  12. No takers on my trade down. I will go with Limas Sweed at 9:00 EST if I don't get a bite from the DraftTek Correspondents.
  13. I've already traded down with the Vikes for an extra pick in RD3, #73. DR-C was picked at #16. Pittsburgh should consider moving up to #17 where I am and having a choice of CB's. Same with Washington with DE, or San Diego with RB. I've sent feelers out.
  14. I'm torn between two choices. Help me out. Astro
  15. I am trying this strategy right now on the Correspondent's Mock Draft. I traded down with the Vikes for their #73, and am at #17. Now I am trying to convince Pittsburgh that they can't get D-R-C or Merling at #23, and should trade up to get him will cost them #88. I'll have 3 RD3 picks if I pull this off.
  16. I would love his job, but not his hair product budget. Me, I use cheap soap.
  17. We are obviously folks who are content with (or are patient with) improvement, because we are still here after 7 seasons. All I have to do is watch that YouTube video of all the good plays from last season, and I become both hopeful and --dare I say--impatient. I won't accept mediocrity in ANY form this season. That includes drafting impact players, coaching to win, offensive imagination, putting players in plays that maximize specific talents, defensive relentlessness, and risk-taking.
  18. The w is silent. W-R-I-T-E-R. As in W-R-A-D-I-O for a W-R-E-A-S-O-N.
  19. Exactly. As Willy Wonka put it, "We have so little to do, and so much time!" Like the early part of your mock. I just don't understand VBD.
  20. I have Connor rated at #19 in the first. That'd be a reach. Think they'll trade down for ILB or grab someone like Ellis, Rivers, or McKelvin?
  21. This is my annual Double Trade-Down Thread. In the first trade down, we Trade Down with #17 Vikes for a 3rd (#73). They are able to select Derrick Harvey. Then we Trade Down from #17 to #21 with the Skins for their 3rd (#84), so the Redskins can have their pick of CB over Tampa Bay. There are no good DE's left, necessitating a move up for CB. We take 1 #21----DeSean Jackson WR Cal (or Hardy or Kelly; all 3 will still be there) 2 #42----Fred Davis TE 3 #72----Antwaun Molden - CB - E Ky (may still go Charles Godfrey here, altho Molden is scary fast) 3 #73----Mike McGlynn RG - Pgh 3 #84----Red Bryant DT - TX 4 #111---Philip Wheeler ILB - GT 4 #132---Owen Schmitt FB- WVU 5 #138---Ezra Butler OLB-Nevada 6 #170---Orlando Skandrick CB - Boise 7 #202---Rudolph Hardie-DE - Howard 7 #210---Fernando Velasco OC - Georgia 7 #251---Marcus Henry, WR- KS, 6'4, 207, tall hands guy - G
  22. Great Comment! That in fact might be what happens in our DraftTek Correspondent's mock. http://www.drafttek.com/2008Corr1.html If I am targeting ONE player at #17 after trading down with the Vikings, I may get stung on that one. Denver just might take Devin Thomas with the 15th pick. I know that Detroit, Carolina, and Chicago are really intent on a OT, so Denver (who wants OT, WR, DT) and Arizona (who likes RB) are my obstacles to getting Thomas. However, if I am content with one of 2 or 3 WR's, I'll be happy. Especially when I'm drafting twice in Round 3.
  23. Great post, Dan. You don't always take the popular point of view, and I respect that. I for one want the most dangerous, high-impact WR we can draft opposite Lee Evans, and I want the most dangerous, high-impact TE that we can draft to further confound the defenses we'll face. The safest choice -- probably Limas Sweed -- or the great potential choice --Devin Thomas-- or the "don't look at combine numbers, or injuries" choice--Malcolm Kelly-- might not be the right choice. A tall end zone threat in Hardy might be the highest reward. Same with Fred Davis, as he has some character issues, as well. But Davis might be the most dangerous.
