  1. Amen. Especially if you are a new GM. If the inmates were running the asylum, we'd go broke.
  2. Great post. And some very high praise coming from those who know--fellow linemen. I think this will be one of the most telling battles at camp. Lots rides on what gets done here. Brandon on one side with his contract cred on one side, and Jason Peters / fans / playoff hopes on the other.
  3. The Pats* have 21, in contrast: http://www.nfl.com/teams/roster;jsessionid...mp;d-447263-n=1
  4. Uh...No. (1) Shaun Alexander gone (2) Steve Hutchinson not there (3) Three OL starters currently sidelined recovering from surgery (LT Walter Jones, OC Spencer and RG Rob Sims). (4) Branch 5 months into what is typically a 9-month rehabilitation (5) Bobby Engram skipped minicamps and June camp for a contract extension. He caught a franchise-record 94 passes last year. (6) Nate Burleson is okay when he runs the right route. (7) Obomanu, Taylor, Kent and Payne have combined for 17 NFL catches. (8) Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett RB's (9) Bruce DeHaven has no Josh Brown, a shaky vet Olindo Mare, and rookie Brandon kicking, and Coutu. (10) Plackemeier may not be ready for our game at punter, last season's special teams captain and leading tackler (11) Koutouvides left for Denver; who'll be KR and PR? (12) Seahawks were horrid on the road (Lost 6) (13) Seahwaks allowed 345.2 yards per game on the road last year
  5. You may have to cut Jefferson or a TE. That's why TE will be the most interesting position to watch in preseason.
  6. Just saying that I am potentially interested in seasons tix this year. I guess the Colts are going with Jim Sorgi as a backup this year...
  7. But in a George Clooney monkey sort of way.
  8. Here is how we will be similar to/ and different from WCO: (1) WCO is "Use the pass to set up the run". We will use the 2-back, 3-receiver set and spread the defense out to get the matchups we want. I think we'll be more unpredictable than last year in that we'll throw on any down or distance during the game, using Lynch as well as Royal and the WR's. (2) WCO passing game attacks the defense in the short-to-medium range. Last year, the Bills had more long passes completed than most teams, so look for some more of that. We'll maximize individual talents here: Evans' downfield abiliity, Reed's YAC ability, Parrish's quickness, and Hardy's ability to use his body and height. (3) WCO uses all of the players on the field (TE, WR, RB) able to catch the football and make plays. This will be true with our offense. Last year, Lynch was horribly under-used in receiving, as was the TE position on check-down passes. (4) WCO depends on smart play. Timing is critical. Watch for more timing plays from the Bills along the sideline, particularly to the WR's. (5) Triangle passing and Pre-Snap Reads: Finally, Trent is going to have much more say about which area to attack and will audible a great deal to get out of a given play that doesn't take advantage or mismatches for the offense to capitalize on. The offense can also be run out of any formation, which will give opponents headaches as well. (6) WCO has to be able to run the football. I think this will mean more zone blocking for the OL, and using Lynch as the centerpiece of the offense. Watch for Jackson to come in on occasion and do the same thing. (7) WCO necessitates that the QB be smart and quick with his reads. Trent has the touch and can develop the accuracy (into the 65% range), and this offense can compensate for his lack of mobility (8) WCO depends on WR's (and RB, TE's ) to make plays after the catch. The YAC yardage of Reed and Evans (and hopefully Hardy, Johnson and Parrish) is almost there already, and having more weapons will only help this year. Trent will make more check-down throws to Royal (and perhaps Schouman or Fine) this year.
  9. They are #1 in average yards per return. SourceHere
  10. Donte has a ways to go, even on his own team. He ranked third on the Bills last seasons in tackles (Crowell 126, DiGiorgio 113, Whitner 89). Donte was 62nd among NFL defensive players in tackles, 63rd in assists (Kawicka Mitchell was 53rd) . His 4 tackles for loss wasn't top 4 (Kelsay 6.5, McCargo 6.5, DiGiorgio 6, Williams 4.5, Schobel 4). Sacks? Zero. INTs? He had 1. (McGee 4, Jim Leonhard 2, Greer, 2, Wilson 2). So did Kelsay, Tripplett, DiGiorgio, Youboty, Ellison, andKiwaukee Thomas. Maybe teams are running and throwing away from him.
  11. To clarify Lindell's "record": 1. Lindell set a team record with 18 consecutive made field goals 10/21 – 12/9 2. Lindell holds Bills record with 84.17 career FG percentage (117-139) 3. Lindell has never missed an extra point attempt in his career making 248 of 248 attempts; Only player in NFL history to start career with a streak that long breaking a record set from 1959-65 (Tommy Davis, 234) 4. Lindell ranks 2nd to Steve Christie with 152 consecutive extra points (Steve Christie (172) 5. Lindell is 3rd best in the NFL since 2005 with 76.5 % of FG attempts beyond 40 yards 6. Lindell has seen action in every game over the past 5 seasons – one of 3 current Bills to accomplish that feat (Moorman and Schobel) 7. Lindell passed O.J. Simpson in the Dallas game in scoring and is now 5th on Bills' all-time scoring list (and 70th place in the NFL) with 773 points
  12. 70% of Bills Daily fans don't want Favre. You're a minority, Sisyphus. Roll that ball up the mtn.
  13. I really worry about where we are as a forum when concern about incurring this wrath will prevent someone from posting a thought. There. I've said it.
  14. James Lofton came to our school to give a "stay in school, don't do drugs" speech, and afterward he was giving autographs. I thought maybe he was getting bored, so I had a fellow teacher take a picture of him with me as I gave him MY autograph. He laughed and thought it was creative. Darryl Talley came the next year and the kids were asking, "This weekend is the bye week. What plans do you have?" expecting something special. Darryl said something to the effect, "I'm going to clean the basement and fix some drywall down there." I'll never forget that, because it humanized those gladiators for me.
  15. Your brother only throw short passes at his girlfiend, too?
  16. We keep 4 through training camp. OFFENSE(26) QB (2): Edwards, Losman RB(4): Lynch, Jackson, Omon, Wright FB(1): Barnes, (Wright) WR(6): Evans, Hardy, Parrish, Reed, SJohnson, Jenkins -- Jenkins is ST Gunner, broke some Moulds records in college TE(3): Royal, Anderson-Schouman, Fine OG(4): Dockery, Butler, Whittle, Preston OT(4): Peters, Walker, Chambers, Murphy C(2): Fowler, (Whittle), Gaddis DEFENSE(25) DT(4): Stroud, McCargo, Williams, Johnson DE(5): Schobel, Kelsay, Denney, Ellis, (Johnson), Neill -- I think Jefferson is victim of numbers and Ellis impresses OLB(4): Crowell, Mitchell, Ellison, Bowen --- Bowen will impress and make the active roster, Ellison will do ST as well ILB(2): Posluszny, DiGiorgio CB(5): McGee, McKelvin, Greer, James, Youboty SS(3): Whitner, Scott, Wendling FS(2): Simpson, Wilson KICKING:(2) PK/FG: Lindell P: Moorman LS: (Neill) PR: (Parrish), (McKelvin) KR: (McGee), (McKelvin) PRACTICE SQUAD (8) OG/OC- Felton OT-Bell WR- Jones---Senior 47 recep, 793 yards, 3TD, 24-year old, 4.32 40, would be fastest Bill. He trumps Scott Mayle's spot. DE-Mace CB- Corner CB-Cox DT- McCray LB- Banks---ST ace, has played OLB, and was doing some MLB in OTA's, Cross was college coach, knows Bowen
  17. Another amazing thing is that the current punter, kicker, punt returner, and kickoff returner are all the Bills' all-time best statistically. (Source: Athlon) And we're not even counting McKelvin in this yet.
  18. Gotta Agree. We're not above the Texans or Panthers yet until we actually play a game.
  19. All Right, I had to Google it, you weren't kidding! Was sure I'd see Peter Pan. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=55812
  20. Some more: Mason Unck, Browns LB Hamza Abdullah Broncos Safety Elvis Dumervil Broncos DE Nnambi Asomugha Raiders CB Cory Lekkerkerker Chargers OT Colby Bockwoldt Titans LB Boone Stutz Falcons Safety Taye Biddle Panthers WR Jamaica Rector Cowboys WR Itula Mili Seahawks TE and the suggestive Rams QB-WR combo, Bulger and Looker.
  21. I'm now looking at JAX. Marcedes Lewis, TE had knee surgery this offseason but may have his best year in 2008. Lewis snared 37 passes (391 yards, 2 TD). Lewis is coming off knee surgery, and may not be ready for Game 2. George Wrighster might not be ready for camp because of knee surgery. Greg Estandia is coming off shoulder surgery but should be ready for camp. Big Whoop. Offensive line doesn't look as stable as it was a year ago--They released guard Chris Naeole, Tony Pashos is sub average. The blocking won’t be as good as in the past. They have the receivers and a decent QB, but they won't have time-- Stroud will be super motivated against his former team, and I say the defensive line and blitzing LB’s will have a field day, especially with Garrard having 3 injured TE’s. Close game.
  22. Disagree about Seattle. The Seahawks are 1-4 in their five most recent games on the East Coast. Shaun Alexander is gone; Steve Hutchinson is not there. In fact, three OL starters sidelined while recovering from surgery (LT Walter Jones, OC Spencer and RG Rob Sims). Branch is five months into what is typically a nine-month rehabilitation, so won’t be there for the Bills game. Bobby Engram skipped minicamps and June camp for a contract extension. He caught a franchise-record 94 passes last year. Nate Burleson is okay when he runs the right route. Obomanu, Taylor, Kent and Payne have combined for a whopping 17 NFL catches. Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett are not gonna get them NFC West title again. Special teams coach Bruce DeHaven has no Josh Brown, has a shaky vet Olindo Mare, and rookie Brandon kicking, and Coutuu. Plackemeier may not be ready for our game at punter, last season's special teams captain and leading tackler Koutouvides left for Denver, and they have no confidence in Burleson as a returner. Seahawks were horrid on the road last year: Lost 6, and they allowed 345.2 yards per game. Win.
