  1. Agree, John. How about Birk on a 2-year contract and Eric Wood from Louisville?
  2. Maybe you're describing what a TE is supposed to do (go out and find a seam) if the O-Line can hold up, rather than a WR--I think of Reed as the guy who catches anything, and I like Steve Johnson. I'd also take a WR later in the draft, like in the 5th (Austin Collie or Kenny McKinley), or 6th (Quan Cosby or Darius Passmore).
  3. When you talk about precise route running, you are describing Jeremy Maclin and crabtree. Forget about Crabtree, but here's a draft that would take Maclin and get our needs addressed pretty well: Trade with Houston (#15) who wants a better DE choice. They give us the RD1#15 and RD3#77. RD1#15-Jeremy Maclin, WR RD2#42-Robert Ayers, DE Tennessee RD3#75-Eric Wood, OC Louisville RD3#77-James Casey, TE Rice Trust me, Good TE's are going to drop in this draft and will be available in Round 3. I couldn't pass on Maclin if I knew I could get Ayers, Wood, and Casey later on.
  4. I think Mack is going to St. Louis at pick #35 at the top of Round 2. If the Bills love Mack over, say Eric Wood, they'll do what they did to get McCargo or Poz.
  5. The latest word from the front office agrees with you.
  6. How about I go with DE as 1, TE-OLB as 2, DT-OC as 3, FS as 4 and OG as 5? Astro
  7. Most draft sites updated in the last 10 days have us taking DE or TE. I did an Astro-Munch© of 200 sites, and came up with these who had updated: Sports2Debate.com TE- Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma St. FootballJabber Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas Squidoo Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri* NFL Draft Experts Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas NFL Draft Preview (Zack) Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn St Niners Nation Brandon Pettigrew, TE Sports Agent Blog Brandon Pettigrew, TE Phin Fever Brandon Pettigrew, TE Inside the Eagles Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn St Sports Fantasy Guide Brandon Pettigrew, TE Football Dialogue BJ Raji, DT, Boston College The Ebony Bird Brandon Pettigrew, TE NFL Draft Preview (Ray) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas NE Patriots Draft Rey Maualuga, LB, USC DraftSeason.com Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas Walter Football (Walt) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas MyNFLDraft.com Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas The Huddle Report Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas War Room Report (Rob) Brandon Pettigrew, TE NFL Mock Draft Aces Rey Maualuga, LB, USC Broncos Freaks Jason Smith - OT - Baylor NFL Draft 101 Brandon Pettigrew, TE NFL Mocks (Adam) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas Draft Season (Lup) Brandon Pettigrew, TE DraftTek (Consensus) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas Sports Jabber Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas Junk Yard Jake Michael Oher, OT Draft Academy (Akh) Mark Sanchez, QB ProSports Draft Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri* Pats Draft Insider Everette Brown, DE, Fla.State Football Expert (Mike) Brian Cushing, OLB, USC Sunday Kickoff Everette Brown, DE, Fla.State I need to turn in my monthly Positional Needs for the Bills at http://www.drafttek.com/teamneeds2009.html and currently Draft Tek usually selects OLB Cushing or Brian Orakpo DE with the first pick. I want your input. Right now we have DE as our top need, OC as our 2nd highest need, and OLB-TE as our third highest need. DT is fourth, and OG-FB-WR are all ranked 5th (like late draft). Should we move DT up to 3rd at least?

  9. Hey, Dan. Yeah, I'd give my left one to be in that War Room, even just to wipe the sweat from the brow of the GM. My wish list? Here's my Dream scenario: Sign a FA Tight End (Owen Daniels, LJ Smith, or Pope, in that order)... Sign Birk at OC from Free Agency... Re-sign OLB Crowell to OLB if he passes the physical...I expect Alvin Bowen back as well... Trade our RD1#11 to San Diego for their #16 and their RD3#80... Draft WR Jeremy Maclin RD1#16 (You want playmaker? There!) Trade Parrish to Dallas for RD3#69 Package the #69 and #75 for Philly's #53... Draft DE Robert Ayers DE in RD2#42 (physically intimidating defender, ferocious hitter, 6'-3, 270-pounds, positive leader) Draft OG Herman Johnson in RD2#53...(massive with very good footwork) Draft DT Ron Brace Boston College in RD3#75...(Phat Pat with wheels.) Draft WR Louis Murphy Florida in RD3#80...(Evans-Maclin-Reed-Murphy-Hardy-Johnson) Draft S Nic Harris in RD4#110... Draft TE Bear Pascoe Fresno St. in RD5#139... Draft QB John Parker Wilson Alabama in RD6#170... Draft FB Travis McCall RD7#202.
  10. I have been looking at mocks for a while, looking at team needs in Round 1 up to our pick. I have come to the conclusion that the demand for OT is going to shape this draft and the picks that fall to us. 1. Detroit Lions | Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia OT's actually are avoided for the first 2 picks. Lions need a ready-for-prime time QB. 2. St. Louis Rams | Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech Think about Avery and Crabtree like you did Holt and Bruce. 3. Kansas City Chiefs | Andre Smith, OT, Alabama **** OT #1**** Brandon Albert and Andre Smith is the beginning of a very good line. Thigpen isn't the problem. 4. Seattle Seahawks | Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia**** OT #2**** Monroe goes unless Crabtree falls. 5. Cleveland Browns | Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest McGinest is about done, and Curry can line up as DE/OLB. 6. Cincinnati Bengals | Jason Smith, OT, Baylor**** OT #3**** They have to protect Palmer better. I don't think they reach for a RB this early. 7. Oakland Raiders | Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn St. Maybin is probably this year's best rusher. They could take the 4th OT here, sending Maybin to the Packers, 49'ers, Bills. 8. Jacksonville Jaguars | Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri Del Rio wants Maualuga or Maclin, but losing Houshmanzadeh (to the Bills) makes it Maclin! 9. Green Bay Packers | Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn St. The shift to 3-4 makes this Maybin over the more 4-3 Orakpo and D-Tackle BJ Raji-- pending the Raiders OT vs. DE pick. 10. San Francisco 49ers | Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St. Singletary wants a defensive player, either DE, OLB, or CB. Some say QB Sanchez goes here. 49'ers take the top corner. 11. Buffalo Bills | See how nice all those OT decision make it for us? Left on the board: ---Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC ---Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss ---Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas ---B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College ---Everette Brown, DE, Florida St. And with the #11 pick, the Bills take... I'd say given those choices, even with Maualuga on the board, you go with Raji. Raji-Stroud helps your pathetic pass rush, and he'd probably be the Broncos' pick at #12. I'd also do this because there won't be any worthy DT's at our pick at the top of Round 2, and there would be DE's (Ayers, Conner Barwin), OLB's (English), and OC's (Mack, Unger) in Round 2. A twosome like Raji-Stroud can make overpaid DE's look better. Astro
  11. I sent a thank you note to Bob Matthews for this article. It's been awhile since he said something positive about the Bills. The fact that Bills fans (7th in the NFL in avg. home attendance) have supported the team through these lean years might have motivated him to change his tune: "Dear Bob, Thanks for your morning D&C article about the positives of the Bills. The fact that Bills fans (7th in the NFL in avg. home attendance) have supported the team through these lean years (as I have since the '60's) is a good enough reason for local sportswriters to keep a balance between positives and negatives when reviewing New York's only team. I respect your opinion more today because of this morning's article. Thanks!"
  12. Arizona Cincinnati Indianapolis Kansas City Minnesota NY Jets Seattle St. Louis Tennessee
  13. 1. Brian Cushing OLB 2. Paul Kruger DE 3. Eric Wood OC 4. Jarett Dillard WR 5. Bear Pascoe TE 6. Tony Fiammetta FB 7. Seth Olsen OG Do we still think that OLB and DE, in that order, are the top priorities? I would add that we ought to get a TE in FA, not the draft, because we can do better. Anyone who has seen Bear Pascoe play, though, knows he's a gamer. Astro
  14. My favorites: (5) Moose Head guy working under back end (4) Polamalu take-off of the Mean Joe Greene commercial (3) Coke Ladybug animation (2) "How about eliminating Bud Light from every meeting?"--thrown out window (1) Doritos--strips girl, liberates ATM, turns cop to monkey, is out of Doritos, hit by bus
  15. Isn't that what a message board is? Go Away.
  16. Hi Wallers, I am the lower school videographer, among other things. I need to be able to post video (sometimes as big as 350mB) and have it passworded. YouTube isn't, and has a puny maximum size limit. Blogger has a slightly larger size limit, but isn't password-able (AFAIK). Any suggestions? Astro
  17. Agree. I think KC takes a hard look at him at #3...offensive tackle, pass rusher or LB will help them the most. The OT's look to dominate the first 7-8 picks, but with the upheaval at KC it's not glamorous to take a lineman. Maybe the Bills' experience with Mike Williams moves them to take Curry.
  18. The same scenario could happen with another team such as Minnesota. Let's not throw the idea out just because he selected the Lions. I too think a trade down is better for the Bills especially if there isn't an impact player that falls to us.
  19. I like it. I was trying to figure out how to drop down but still get a difference-maker at DE. There it is.
  20. Sanders was pretty good with his 7 years as DLine coach of the Florida Gators. You may remember three of his pupils, Jevon Kearse, Kevin Carter and Huey Richardson. "While Sanders was with Florida, the Gators led the Southeastern Conference in sacks four straight seasons (1996-99). With the Gators for 11 years (1990-2000), Sanders coached multiple defensive positions, helping the club capture five SEC championships and the 1995 national title. Prior to his time at Florida, Sanders spent five years at Duke. In his last season with the Blue Devils, 1989, the squad went 8-4 and won the school's first Atlantic Coast Conference Championship since 1965. " http://www.packers.com/team/coaches/sanders_bob/
  21. DraftTek just released its 8th Consensus Draft, where the correspondents from each team send in positional needs. It's showing: 1 Detroit Andre Smith OT Alabama -2 Reach 2 St Louis Michael Crabtree WRF Texas Tech +1 Value 3 Kansas City Aaron Curry ILB Wake Forest +1 Value 4 Seattle Michael Oher OT Mississippi -1 Reach 5 Cleveland Everette Brown OLB34 Florida State -4 Reach 6 Cincinnati Eugene Monroe OT Virginia -2 Reach 7 Oakland Jason Smith OT Baylor -4 Reach 8 Jacksonville Jeremy Maclin WRF Missouri -5 Reach 9 Green Bay BJ Raji DT43 Boston College -6 Reach 10 San Francisco Brian Orakpo OLB34 Texas +0 Value Source : http://www.drafttek.com/round12009.asp Most of the players you like are gone by our pick. Johnson DE is at 24 on our Big Board, and Pettigrew TE is now at 27, indicating that (barring taking Maualuga ILB in this scenario) a trade down is more likely than before. Given these 4 choices, what sounds best? All presuppose getting a Free Agent TE: 1. Take Maualuga ILB with no trade, slip Poz outside; get a Free Agent TE, and take DE Connor Barwin in Round 2. 2. Do the Minnesota trade at #22 so they can take QB; get a Free Agent TE, get DE Maybin and a 2nd; take OLB Clay Matthews at #42 and at #54 take WR Brian Robiskie. 3. Do a Detroit trade at #20 so they can take Malcolm Jenkins CB at #11; get OLB Cushing at #20 and the first pick in RD3#65 and RD5; take OC Luigs or Wood at #65 and Safety Nic Harris at #75. 4. Do a Washington trade at #13 so they can leapfrog Denver. Denver gets Maulaluga; we get a RD3#80. We take OLB Brian Cushing at #13, Cincinnati's DE Conner Barwin at #42, Eric Wood OC at #75, and Florida's WR Louis Murphy at #80.
  22. Good Point. Maybin should be ranked higher. We have a guy who tracks 3 experts' big board. I'll ask him.
